Goddard Newtown StayAway
We moved into the area and had little time to find a daycare. Newtown Goddard seemed a good option and had decent reviews. My daughter came from a wonderful Little Friends School in Hamilton and she thrived there. Being a shy girl, she opened up and was finally willing to communicate, play and interact. The moment we put her into Goddard school she turned into a stressed out preschooler. We had doubts about the school, but were uncertain. We liked the director but teachers were unfriendly to say the least. They will never greet you or your child when you bring her in. They are just hanging around. They do not have a good grasp on kids, nor they make a connection with them. They are present but minding their own business. They are unable to calm and comfort a child They do what looks good on paper - letters, numbers, But in reality it is done without heart, just on paper. Soon after my kid started crying at nights, you can see she is looking for attention. Finally one morning she went hysterical holding to me and begging not to leave her there. Needless to say I had never seen her like that before. The bottom line - STAY AWAY BY ALL MEANS. I was expecting at least some effort considering the huge price tag - almost double of what we were paying in NJ for school two times better. I think the good reviews come from people who either drop kids of there for couple of hours a day and that wouldn't matter as much, or from those who had never seen what a daycare can be like...

The results speak for themselves
My kids routinely come home with projects in hand and smiles on their faces. It is a great facility with a gifted, caring staff and an atmosphere that submerses the children in all aspects of learning. They even start learning sign language when they are still infants. Kids are encouraged to explore and engage others in group activities and play. The entire staff is very approachable and accommodating, and readily available to answer questions and address specific needs and concerns. In all the years I have taken my kids there, I've never had to give a second thought as to their well being - they love it there and the staff loves them right back. The first time I heard my kids explain something they learned or demonstrated applied knowledge without being asked or prompted was a great feeling - and it made a believer out me. It has been worth every penny, I would do it all over again.

Very disturbing management practices
Research this school very carefully. The co-owner of the school was convicted of arson at the school with very disturbing circumstances, and the owner and management didn't tell parents about this incident for 7 months. Ensure you read coverage of this incident before placing your child in this school's care.

Good place to socialize kids
We moved here and had to find a school right away that could help us while we were sorting things out. THe kids really like it and they welcome kids with learning differences. They made all the efforts to accomodate us, and it is safe and clean. They are not huge academic pushers, but they do work on social skills and that was great for our kids. They have :specials"" like computer class and a ""clown"" who comes to the school. THey have theme parties and show and tell days. They are not an ""ACADEMIC"" type of school like the Montessori type. but if you are ooking for a place where kids need to be kids-this is ideal. The camp is fine but our kids played on hard top and got contant scrapes/bruises etc. I would only recomment the school not the camp.
