Description

The next sentence that you read is all that you need to know about The Louver Shop. The Louver Shop may have actually begun almost 50 years ago, when my father, Jim Guess, then a junior sales manager with J.C. Penney’s in Nashville, volunteered to install a set of blinds for a Penney’s customer. He made an extra $15 that week! As a way to make ends meet for his family in the early 1970s, my Dad began selling and installing draperies (that my Mom made), selling and installing shades & blinds.. (that an out-of-work friend cut-down), and selling and installing shutters (that my Dad trimmed & finished on Saturdays & Sundays) out of the garage at our home in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He soon found that his shutter sales warranted a separate company and The Louver Shop was born. The Louver Shop soon developed a reputation as being the company to go to for quality and value in shutters much to the delight of our customers and much to the dismay of our competition who had for years been selling “what the market would bear” instead of a fair price based on the cost of labor and goods. Our growth philosophy was to sell quality, value, and volume. Our growth was realized because we gave opportunities to those persons that we knew who asked for the chance to better themselves and their families through The Louver Shop: family, friends, and those who worked their way up within our company. The story of The Louver Shop is a story founded by America. The Louver Shop grew because it is a service company that became a manufacturer. The Louver Shop grew because it provides opportunities for those people who want to work to better themselves and their communities. For my Dad, the man who started The Louver Shop over 30 years ago, the means was, and still is, as important as the ends.
