The only place I would go
I looked at many Atlanta dojos and this was the only one I found with the right combination: great instructors who know what they're doing and why/how it works, they are able to explain and pass on the knowledge effectively, the other students are there to help and train with you, etc. I will simply say that I've trained for many years at other dojos when I was growing up in NC, and this is the only place I would train in Atlanta for Karate and Jujitsu. I am already getting my 3 year old and 9 month old ready to train here when they get a little older!

I Love This Place!
Shihan Mike and the other black belts run great classes. I am thankful for the real training I get in my classes. Everyone is friendly and spirited. At times I arrive early for class and observe Shihan working with his younger students. He works them hard and expects alot from them. Good luck in your choice of schools. I hope you can stop by and try some classes. I am sure you will understand why I like The Martial Arts Center, See you soon.

Life Changing Instruction
I've been training at TMAC now for 5+ years. My physical, spiritual, and mental growth have been outstanding. This is a traditional dojo, teaching a combination of traditional Okinawan Karate and Japanese Ju Jitsu. If you're interested in learning self- defense, self-respect, and discipline through:
sparring, grappling, joint-locking, throwing, and traditional forms, then this is the place for you.

Very Good Dojo
I have trained in traditional Japanese Karate for more than 20 years. Through these years, I have had the privilege to train with some very well respected instructors, many internationally renowned. I take my martial arts very seriously and would not be part of a dojo that does not uphold the high standards and traditions I have come to expect. I am in my second year of training here and have been very pleased with the school. The serious yet engaging learning atmosphere that the lead instructor Shihan Hernandez has created, allows both beginners and advanced students the opportunity to further their knowledge and skills in many aspects of martial arts. I am very pleased to be part of this school and would highly recommend it.

Casual Martial Arts Exposure
Have observed "black belts" here with improper form and technique, but if you want a low pressure watered down martial arts experience this place is great. If you seek game-changing, to the next level and beyond personal growth or are a high achiever, there are better places. Staff is not receptive to suggestions for improvement - they'll get agitated and defensive.

The Martial Arts Center replied on 09-25-2011
It is greatly distressing to find this review. In addition to an adherence to the strict standards and protocols of traditional Okinawan Karate Do, a primary focus of The Martial Arts Center has always been good community citizenship and superior customer service. A fact that is supported by the 5 star ratings from other reviewers here and elsewhere. It is unfortunate that this reviewer chose to express their discontent here. We invite them to contact us directly so that we might have the opportunity to appropriately address and resolve their concerns. It is our hope that through open communication they will come to understand and support what we are doing here at The Martial Arts Center.
