Inexperienced Repair Tech!!!, 6/16/2010

I took an acoustic guitar in for a bridge pin replacement...I left with the same guitar with NO strings or bridge pins (The repair tech was kind enough to give me three loose ones...). Now, I work as... a professional musician and music educator in a major city and brought my guitar to them while visiting family thinking I was doing a good thing by giving business to a local shop. I let the repair tech give me his spiel about how this happened which basically amounted to him blaming the shape of my bridge pins...totally BS! I am appaulled a)how the repair tech handled this(He never apologized for breaking three bridge pins or even admitted to it) b)his lack of concern for either my satisfaction...or even actually acquiring the parts needed to FIX what he did. He actually suggested I visit musiciansfriend.com and order the parts myself! I also purchased an oboe reed from them...total crap! I would not under any circumstances as a music educator recommend this shop to a student or ANYONE for that matter!!!! Stay away and after all...as he was nice enough to point out...you can order most stuff online. I think this store is, unfortunately, a prime example of a retail outlet that doesn't know anything about what they are selling or at least the hired help doesn't...in a field such as music it is imperative that you a)sell quality products b)are able to FIX and repair instruments...
