I really wanted to like this restaurant. I figured anyone who would put so much into what the place looks like would surely make sure that it had the food to match. Boy was I wrong. The food was probably the worst that I have ever had in a restaurant. The reuben my mother ordered had a slice of dried, meat on it. My 1/2 cuban was the tiniest half sandwich I had ever seen. It had a sliver of what tasted like microwaved pork. It took everything in me to choke it down. My children had chicken fingers that were obviously from the freezer. The "fried green tomatoes" were paper thin slivers of something (couldn't tell if it was even tomato it was so thin) heavily battered and deep fried served with marinara? The worst offense was the potato soup. It tasted like pureed potatoes in milk/water. No salt, no seasoning, no bacon, no veggies. I think we would have had a better meal at the hospital cafeteria across the street.

The variety is good and the meals are prepared well. The service is also attentive. It's a quiet restaurant that can be a great place to enjoy an anniversary or a more casual meal. The location in a somewhat dumpy, older strip mall isn't appealing, but if you can get past that lack of "curb appeal," you'll enjoy a very nice dinner out.
I didn't find their menu to be kid friendly but the food tastes great. The food portions were adequate, unlike some restaurants that serve too much. I probably won't take my children there again but would definitely recommend it to other adults.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Fayetteville. It was nice to have a place close to home where we could go for a nice meal. The service has been lacking lately and I am not sure if I will return. The food has gone down in quality recently.

Worst service ever! From the moment we walked in, to our waitress the service was horrible! What appeared to be the manager of the store was up front with the hostess and even though we had reservations for 7pm told us we would have to wait for a table. To top it off he politely seated 4 couples who walked in right after us and also stated they had 7pm reservations. After my husband spoke w/ the hostess regarding this she seated us. Then the waitress! Wow! She was definetely not happy to be there and it showed!!! She practically threw our food at us on the table-the plates actually wobbled a little after she threw them our way like a frisby. The only thing that was even decent was the quality of the food-I will say kudos to the chef but that's it. Definetely will never visit Village Cafe again, not on Valentine's Day or any other day!
