Waldorf education is the best kept secret in San Diego, so while it is still accessible, RUN - don't walk to this school and check it out for yourself! Their philosophy is educating the WHOLE child: head, heart and hands. If you meet their students you will see that's so true. They are confident, can look you in the eye and give a firm handshake (which they learn each morning when greeting their class teacher), are accomplished knitters, painters, gardeners, dancers and singers. They also learn from a curriculum rich in academics including: Thermodynamics, History of Modern Revolution, Physics, Organic Chemistry, Botany, Mechanics, Euclidian Geometry, and much more. Waldorf is what every parent dreams of for their child!

Waldorf education is the fastest growing school movement in the world with over 94% of Waldorf high school grads going to a 4 yr college or university - and over 50% of those students going on to a Masters Degree or Ph.D! The hallmark of the Waldorf approach is a slower, gentler start in the play-based Nursery and Kindergarten classes. There is lots of outdoor and indoor play, songs, games, circle time, seasonal crafts, knitting, sewing and more. The children engage in gardening and have organic food every day. The elementary curriculum is hands-on, experiential, and totally engaging! Math, farming, science, art, movement, music, foreign language, history, gardening, drama - all brought in a fun, exciting and age-appropriate way completely different than most schools. Check out the bio's of their high school faculty - NASA scientists and engineers, stained glass and fine artists, mathematicians, etc! The students are working on college-prep coursework while also engaging in all the arts: dance, sports, modeling, painting, mosaic, basketweaving, music and band, foreign language, and much more. The emphasis is on social and community service to give teens a sense of belonging, community and being of service to others. This is an entirely different approach that results in amazing, confident, young adults who have a strong moral compass, timeless values and can think for themselves! Join one of their tours to see for yourself.
