Any veterinarian can spay/neuter your pets and give them their shots. Dr. Mills is who I want my pet to see when he needs more. He helped us make hard decisions through for years of illness with my... dog, Buddy, and he was there when I had to let Buddy go. Now I won't take my other dog anywhere else :) Make sure you are with a veterinarian who can take care of your pets when they really need it. I can't recommend Dr. Mills more.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mills. I have a male daschund that has always been horrified of the vet, even for getting his nails trimmed. Everywhere we've been, he had to be muzzled,... he would pee and poop all over the table and scream!! I even tried doing them myself with help, he didn't like that either. Finally, we met Dr. Mills!! The very first time we went to him, he got in the floor with him and talked and rubbed him. He then put him on the table to cut his nails. The dog never made a sound!! I couldn't believe it. We've probably been ten times since then and he never makes a sound!!!VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

The Vet was good, and the staff pleasant enough. The first visit was taking my pet for a check-up. Our dog also had bad breath, and gave us some toothpaste and floss for him. Of course, that's our job to do! We'd try this vet again and see how it goes.

Doctor Mills is a great vet. I would recommend him without reservation. I have used him for 7 years as he has cared for our 2 labs. In addition to routine visits, we have boarded there and feel fortunate to have such a kind and familiar staff caring for our pets. Dr. Mills is Compassionate, patient, and gentle beyond measure. His typical MO is to sit on the floor with my dogs for their exam - and he makes their experience as stress free as possible. It is quite evident that he loves his job and is loved by his patients. His staff is wonderful. Although we have routine annual exams, there are more than a few 'impromptu appointments' where they squeeze us in. Although it taxes their busy schedule, It is never presented as an inconvenience.

I have been going to Dr. Mills for years. He is very knowledgable and spends quite a bit of time with each pet. I started going to him because his prices were so reasonable. He was way less expensive than the other vets I've tried and he is completely honest, always willing to try to save the customer money. Dr. Mills founded the Dawson County Humane Society and I have heard him say that he would only charge a customer 1/2 of his rate, because the customer found and kept a stray. He is a great humanitarian. And I agree his staff can be abrassive at times...but he is definately worth it. When he examines my border collie he gets right down on the floor with her and lets her hug on him and love him while he is doing the exam. He usually spends 20 to 30 minutes with each patient and is completely thorough. His office has even told me where to get the cheapest heartworm medicine on line. So I really don't get the over charging thing. He is definately worth any agravation you might feel from his staff.

I just came across these reviews and I am amazed on how many selfish people they are. 1st off - I wouln't judge a Vet on his "office staff". I would judge on how the VET treats my ANIMAL! If the office staff is rude to you - get over it! You are not there for YOURSELF you are there for the wellbeing of your ANIMAL - and I guarantee you Dr. Mills is there for the same reason! He takes the Animals BEST NEEDS into consideration. Think of your animal as your child - if you are going to a QUALITY Pediatrician - but the office staff is not as QUALITY - do you stop going to that Pediatrician? NO! You do what is best for your Child! Certinally I can see the point with someone thinking their office staff is RUDE b/c at times they are but they are entitled to a BAD DAY just like the rest of us are! I have delt with Thompson Creek Animal Hospital on MANY different things and on a couple of occations had to "hash it out with the office help" and OVER ALL - It is QUALITY HEALTHCARE for your ANIMAL!!

Dr. Mills has been our vet for years. We have never had a bad experience. He takes his time and is very knowledgable. I strongly disagree with the suggestion that they over charges for services. I have found their rates to be very reasonable. Spaying & neutering is higher than some "quick fix" places; however; it's a personal decision on the quality of care one chooses to pay for their pet. Expecting the doctor to provide free exams, etc. is a bit ridiculous. If nothing else, Dr. Mills' involvement with the Dawson County Humane Society is a testament to his character.

After reading the reviews about this Vet I do not think that we would go because how Dr.'s children getting involved. Even though everyone has a right to his or her opinion, it seems a little unprofessional for the staff to inform a former customer to "Get A Life." The office's reputation and the encouragement of customer's to support the business by leaving comment's on this website should suffice and extend to the good quality of the services provided.

We have been taking our dogs (and soon our new kitten) to Thompson's Creek Animal Hospital for 5 years now, and we just love it there. The staff is always very friendly and professional and they truly care about the animals. Also, the facility is always very clean and organized. We have a dog who is especially nervous when going to the vet, and Dr. Mills is able to calm her and even give her shots *without her even realizing he's doing it*! He is kind and patient - never in a hurry. Even when I have to bring the children with me and our dog becomes protective of them, Dr. Mills is able to settle her and take care of her no matter if it takes an hour. We love that all the checkups our dogs have had with Dr. Mills took place right there in the room with us. At other vets they take them in the back to give shots, etc., but doctor Mills has nothing to hide. If you are looking for a vet in the Dawsonville/Gainesville area, please visit Thompson Creek Animal Hospital - you will love it there! Melynda Wilson :-)

Apparently I am not the only potential customer who the staff was rude to. There are other ppl who can relate to this issue. From working with the public in customer service, one thing to keep in mind is to never ever condescend someone. Basically a few reviews here have proven that the staff needs an overall or training how to treat others.
