Ok -- glad I wasn't paying, 12/17/2008

I found Thrive a bit overpriced for what we got. Luckily, it was a business lunch, so I wasn't paying. :) Another reviewer mentioned great scallops -- I would've loved to try them, and in fact... ordered them with several other folks. The waiter came back to say their truck hadn't come in yet and there were only two orders left. Bummer. I got the sea bass (even pricier than the scallops at $24, I think). I asked them to skip the asparagus/mushroom garnish underneath, substituting a baked potato. This left the plate looking a bit naked and wasn't the best combo. The fish was a nice size and very good at first, though maybe due to the pairing, I found myself glad to be finished with it at the end. I couldn't find a "side salad," optionn so went without. Someone ordered the five-onion soup (it's served IN a hollowed-out onion), and it was so-so. No bread or other snackables, that I recall. Other folks seemed satisfied, if not blown away.

ugh, 11/13/2008

Server was odd and didn't bring us what we ordered (Said we should eat something else). Food was expensive and mediocre tasting. Manager seemed to not care at all when we brought up our concerns... with the service. Don't waste your time or money here. Plenty of other great places to eat downtown.

Good place for decent price downtown

Sushi is very good, most of the main menu is good. The crowd can be hit or miss depending on what is going on downtown. Worth a try.

Loved it Twice

I went there before the Barry Manilow concert a month or so ago with some girlfriends and really enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food. So much so that I took my husband back for our wedding anniversary - we spent the weekend downtown and really enjoyed Thrive for a second time. Thrive must have improved on some of the reviews here since October - the service the first time was "okay" - the second, it was great, they acknowledged our anniversary by a dessert on the house. There is culture in Thrive - you won't find that all the people look the same here - it's a great place to lounge, eat, take friends, stop for a drink or just take out. I personally loved the Tuna - it was $24 but totally worth it. You should experience it - it's good!

Service and management were horrible

New Year's Eve - the waiter never asked if I wanted another drink during the hour there. Half the food items were not there and they brought whatever they saw fit without asking us. The manager started coming up with excuses saying it was because it was late in the evening. I told him if I owned the place and he said that to a customer I would fire him on the spot. The only saving grace was that they comp'd us. If they didn't I would have walked out without paying anyway. If you like this place you must be an "early diner."

Thrive on service

My wife and I recently visited Thrive for a quick bite before catching a flick. After we were seated, we were greeted by the “dead.” The wait staff has no personality whatsoever.... so we decided to leave…. if your trying to be upscale do so

Pricey but decent

I went to this restuarant for friend's birthday. It has a nice ambiance and the food was decent. I thought it was a little pricey. The valet was horrible. I had to wait in a long line and they were unable to find some people's keys. A couple of customers actually went into the key box found their keys and went to their car.

Expensive and not good

The food is extremely overpriced... sushi is okay, but I'm absolutely sure they make it in advance.. not fresh and tastes refrigerated. Our server kept eating sushi 10 feet away from us. The only positive... there's nothing else downtown.

Great downtown addition

Downtown needed something like Thrive. I hope they last. It's open, airy, sleek, comfortable. I've been there mostly for drinks, and it's a great spot for having one after work or if you're going to an event downtown. The food was good the one or two times I ate there.

Awesome lava roll!

I work across the street from here. I can't really comment on the service or atmosphere; I just pick up a lava roll two to three times a week for lunch. That lava roll is so worth it! The lava roll here and the curry roll at Taka are the best rolls you can gegt in this city! highly recommended!

Rude Rude Rude!

They were 30 minutes late seating us from our reservation and had the audacity to tell us it "wasn't their fault" and that our table was being held up because the two people were done eating, had paid their check, but were still enjoying themselves. They wouldn't politely ask the couple to move their conversation to the bar so that the next reservation could be seated. Then, they continued to be rude to our party of 8. We spoke with the mgr who looked like he was about 22. Before long, we walked out and took our business elsewhere. Thrive will do anything but!

Nice Atmosphere

I thought the vibe was great. Very fun and trendy, but not so loud that you get lost in it. The onion soup was amazing. Not the best food in the world, but definitely better than most.

Nice decor, horrible food!

My first time here and the only good things were my 2 glasses of wine & my waiter was okay. Had to send my food back TWICE!!!! & THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO BRING ME BURNT SALMON the 2nd time. I was fed up @that point & i didn't try anything else. After i complained the entree was taken off of my bill. Won't try this place again.
