Tom's Master Mechanics has been family owned and operated and serving the cars of the San Diego area since 1981. Went to two other shops with my car and when I got to Tom's, he told me not to throw good money after bad; he shared when the complete repair should be made. The others wanted to charge me now... ($400+), but Tom said it would be a while before the job would need to be done, and then the complete job would cost about $300. The other services that needed to be done, his shop performed and they were completed in a personal and professional manner. Outstanding service, high quality and GREAT value. The short time I spoke with Tom I recognized he is a man with a purpose more grand than that of just your good everyday auto mechanic. Before today I didn't know Tom - he really made a difference in my day. He's a great person to know and a person I want to support and give my money to.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

My Grandmother in law gave me her 1984 Honda Accord in great shape. Had it for 3 weeks and everything in the car works and drives smooth. Passed Smog 3 days prior to going here (Recommended by my boss and based on reviews .) Estimate for Belts checked replaced, and oil change, and transmission fluid change... the estimate on the phone was somewhat reasonable. After the courtesy inspection, it turned out to be way over my budget of around 500. That was the turning point for me and politely advised not to preform any services as I will be taking my car somewhere else. The oil change was already preformed but oh well 45$ not the end of the world. Went picked up my car, thanked Tom for his time and drove away. The next morning driving to work and to drop my car at the next garage "Miramar 76 service center" in the same auto center. A big cloud of white smoke was coming out of under my hood. thick white smoke everywhere. "Is this a coincidence?" One of the techs ask me to open the hood and the Radiator cap was left off and never put back on. "Go get the person that did the oil change" asks the tech and so I did. The mechanic from Tom's apologized and filled back the radiator with coolant. I only drove 20 miles so no damages were done. If you Google this incident, you can lose the entire engine because of it. UPDATE - Tom called me today (10 days later)and was concerned about what happened to me. You can tell he really cares about his customers and I appreciated that. Thanks Tom!

The quality of the repairs were great--my brakes are running better than ever. I think the prices were reasonable and fair. I was super impressed with the ease at scheduling my services via internet and the reminders for service I received. Tom personally responded to my emails within minutes with questions about pricing and services. I really was impressed by the attentiveness to my car and the service time was FASTTTTT. I felt Tom was honest and didn't try to push unnecessary services on me. Overall, a great experience and I will be returning. Thanks Tom's MM!
For anyone looking for the best car mechanic that won't "take you for a ride" I highly recommend Tom's Master Mechanics in Miramar. He is the most honest car repair-shop owner I have ever met! www.tomsmm.com. Not only did he provide excellent, timely service, they offer free email reminders for routine service, online access to your vehicle repair history and that "hometown feel" that is just plain-old missing from most dealerships and repair shops nowadays. He honestly cares about you and your satisfaction. He has my 100% customer vote of confidence!
Tom's is the best place to take your car, period! He's fast, friendly, reliable, and especially honest. He never recommends services I don't need, and he has all the latest equipment to diagnose exactly what's wrong without making guesses and causing endless and expensive repair woes. I never have to worry about my car acting up on one of my frequent road trips because Tom always keeps it in top condition. Tom makes waiting nice by providing free coffee and free wi-fi. They'll even give you a ride to work if you need one. He's not the cheapest in town, but he's definitely the best!

I've been taking my cars to Tom's since 1985 or so. I've also taken every used car I've purchased there for an eval, and he's saved me from at least one lemon. The service has always been excellent. Thorough and complete. They never just guess about what's wrong and make me come back later to get it fixed again (like some of the dealers!). It's always Just Done Right.

I have always hesitated in getting my car serviced outside a dealership.I was referred to Tom's and am so glad I took my friends suggestion.What honest and experienced people.Five Star plus! Highly recommend them.

Tom's Master Mechanics have been servicing our vehicle of over 10 years. Outstanding knowledge of both domestic and foreign cars Tom's team has never come cross a problem they could not handle or unable to refer us to a specialist who could complete the work. Tom is always willing to get you into his schedule. I have been using Tom's for more than 10 years and will keep coming back.
I just recently had my car repaired at Tom's Master Mechanics, and the experience was definitely a memorable one. Not only is the shop centrally located in San Diego off the 805 freeway and Miramar Road, but their service exceeds any automotive shop that I can remember. I had taken my vehicle to several shops in the past, but never felt comfortable or trusted the value of their service and ethics. But, after my experience at Tom's I think I found a mechanic for life. They work on almost all vehicles. But, they made me think that Asian vehicles were their specialty after the way my car performed after the service. Now, I'm going to be honest; you potentially could find their services cheaper at some other shop, but that is what it will be "some other shop." You are not going to find the quality of work anywhere else. And, they stand behind it with a two-year, or 24k warranty on all services rendered. With the economy the way it is, I for one would rather pay a few dollars more for repairs and have peace of mind than live in constant fear that my automotive repair shop isn't looking out for my well-being.
Friendly and attentive, the service technician that helped me knew what he was doing. The job was done quickly and well. However, it was strongly recommended that I get a fuel system induction/cleaning. Before I decided, I learned that this is considered an unnecessary procedure for a car like mine.
