GERALDS UNPROFESSIONALISM
Let me get straight to the point. I have used this company twice before & both times they were more than 2 hours late. The quality of service is great from the actual movers once they get there & you get past the lunatic Gerald. I was scheduled to use them this upcoming Saturday; however I needed a guaranteed start time from them because they are always late & I had something to do. When Gerald called to confirm, I wanted to know if he could attempt to be professional just this once & be there @ 9am. Instead of being professional;as usual he attempted to educate me on how all moving companies work. As if he has knowledge of this, furthermore insulting my intelligence by once again overestimating how long it takes to move less than 20 boxes, a sofa & a bed. During our tetete’ he became agitated and hung up in my face when I suggested that I had found someone else that guaranteed a 9 am start time. I don’t have allot of stuff & I know exactly how long it will take to move less than a mile up the road, not 3 to 4 hours as he aggressively insists. I would use them again & I would recommend this company IF THEY FIRE GERALD! His constant attempts to overinflate the moving costs along with his excessive complaining about everything under the sun related to moving, along with his aggressive, rude attitude has turned me off to using this company as long as he works there. Feel free to respond Gerald;I am sure it is in your crazy nature to do so.Better yet respond & call if needed

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!
I had a 10 am appt for the movers to arrive. I received a call Friday night saying 11. I was ok with that. Around 11, I received a call saying it would be more like 1pm. I was still ok. They did not arrive until 2:55pm. I was ready to get started at this point. I told the owner Gerald over the phone that we didn't have that much stuff and it would take less than 5 hours. He insisted that we prepay for 5 hours, promising that we would be refunded the difference. The EXACT time of the move was 4 hours and 17 minutes. He owes me $75 back. I tried to tell him this over the phone and he cut me off and hung up on me. He has stopped answering our phone calls and his vm is full. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

We asked this customer if they wanted to start earlier with a crew to prep the furniture and it was their decision to start later. There was absolutely no damage on this move and we sent a 5 man crew instead of a 4 man crew. In regards to the issue of payment, I was on the phone with the crew at 4 hours and 31 minutes into the move. The crew was finishing at that time, but had to get the equipment on the truck and put the refrigerator doors back on. We initially estimated that this would be a 5-6 hour move, but we were able to finish in a little less than 5 hours. We bill for partial hours and increments, as was explained to this customer. Her husband, Corey Battle, stated that our men worked their butts off and did an excellent job. He was actually the person we dealt with during the move. The crew asked if anything else was needed because approximately 20 minutes was left in the 5th hour. The crew was told that they could go and were tipped. The "crew" was paid for the 5 hours that we billed for. This wasn't a situation where the company robbed anyone. The workers got paid for the amount of billing that was charged. The complaint regarding this move did not arise until AFTER Mrs. Battle called days after the move. We were then informed that the move had taken almost all of the money out of her checking account. Initially, the card that we were given was "declined" for the transaction and the card that was then given was apparently the debit card. While it is very unfortunate that the moving expenses took most of her expenses, we did nothing wrong. We were then asked to "refund" the charge and charge it to another card. All 5 members of the moving crew gave the exact same start and finish times, which we verified and can prove by phone records. And most importantly, no one from this office stopped taking Mrs. battle's calls. To the contrary, we have been in contact with Mr. Battle in regards to the matter. And while we are addressing the issue, we have NEVER overcharged ANY customer. In fact, we have had numerous customers who did not have enough money to pay for their moves and in stead of calling the authorities and having them arrested for "theft of services" which is legally what we can do, we worked a portion of time for FREE. Just this past Monday, we worked for a woman who had broken her leg and lost her house, for 8 hours while only receiving 4 hours pay! When customers ONLY complain about the cost and not the quality of service, it's usually the same old song...their needs are bigger than their budget. We provided quality service at a discount and that's all we can do.

Poor Customer Service and Late
I would not reccomend this company. I've dealt with several moving companies in the past. I wish I had checked the reviews first. Although the guys was late, they were professional. The truck they brought was to small, items was broken, door damaged, furniture broken. The movers can be trained. However; Gerald the owner: "OMG", will spend an entire day arguing with the customer. I would recommend that you not use this company.

We are not sure who you are because we have not had any such incidents or claims made. If you were an actual customer, you should have informed our office of damages as soon as they occurred. We provide onsite furniture and property repairs for damages. "Venting" on a public site on the internet without filing a claim does not get your damages repaired. That's why we are not sure that you were one of our customers. You do not provide any date of service or name, just vague allegations regarding unspecified damages. Regarding the comment that you made about truck size, we offer 16 and 26 foot trucks. The rates that we charge are determined by the truck and crew size. We do not send out 26 foot trucks unless we are charging the appropriate rate for that truck and the stated inventory requires it. If you order two men and a 16 foot truck, that's what we charge you for and that's what we send. However, we do get some customers who do not provide a complete list of what is being moved and/or underestimate the size of their jobs. Our website shows the size of the trucks offered and tells you the capacity of each size. It's very clear and not subject to multiple interpretation. Regarding the comment that I will argue with a customer, yes I will because the moving industry is "regulated" by state and federal governments and some customers do not understand that they do not have any say so about how some matters are handled. It is similar to a sporting eventing with two teams and the government is the referee. The rules are set and you do not get any special treatment because you are the customer. Your rights and the company's right are written into law and not open for negotiation. So if a customer thinks that the customer is always right, they are wrong. We don't set the rules for the moving industry and we understand that some rules are not favorable to all customer situations, but, that does not give a customer the right to have it their way. So, yes, if I am right, and it is based on the rules, not my opinion, I will not and cannot back down and let a customer have it their way. On occasion, we get competitors who post "bad reviews" in an effort to tarnish our reputation. Our growth has been tremendous in the last few years. If we did not provide excellent service, we would not have the City of Atlanta, The Federal Bureau of ATF, Macy's, Wells Fargo, Scottrade, Infinity Cars of Memphis, and numerous other corporate customers calling us. And we have the check stubs and invoices to prove it. If you were in fact a customer of ours, please call us at 678-920-4828 and let's discuss what happened on your move and why. But, as previously stated, we have not had any such claims made by anyone. If you are simply a competitor trying to tarnish our reputation, you are wasting your time. We are constantly busy and by no means struggling to get business.

I haven't bothered...
I decided to look at the reviews on the off chance I feel the need to blow a wad on having someone move for me. I see a response to EVERY review why not mine.
I used Around the Town once, had 2 men for 2 hours @ $75. Never mind I was on the 4th floor with no elevator. They charged $75 straight up, with a reciept. No BS. I tipped them well. (Yes you should tip people in any service industry).
I found this more like it found me on a moving price comparison site. Once Gerald got my #, he called 4 times within 2 hours! I didn't answer the phone since I was at work. Of course he returned my call promptly when I finally answered and stated I could speak later.
My initial assumption is that this business is hurting to have so much time on their hands and call that excessively then I saw all the review responses. ::sigh:: Not very professional at all.
IF I find the need, I think I'll get back with Around the Town....

We are not even sure that this qualifies as a review, but we will entertain the possibility. This lady went to the Billy. com moving quote site and input her information to receive quotes via phone calls and email from the movers in the Billy movers network. She did not list a time to call. What she didn't realize is that Billy and all moving quote sites "sell" that information to moving companies and tell them all to hurry and call the customer to verify that it is a "real" customer and to ensure that the first moving company that reaches the customer gets the job. If the customer is not looking for moving services or is not reachable, it's a "bad lead" for which we have to request a refund. We didn't create the business model where brokers sell customer information to moving services and tell them to race and call until you book the job, and we don't really approve of it. However, when you have over 900 moving services in the Georgia, many of whom are unlicensed and uninsured and charging "half" of what the licensed companies charge, moving quote sites provide a much needed source of customers who are supposed to be looking for moving services. Moving quote sites can exploit the situation to their advantage and charge for any potential real customer leads because they know the value of real paying customers to any business. We did what we were instructed to do by the moving quote site, so Total Moving Services and several other moving companies paid $6 to receive her information, only for her to be rude and tell us that she didn't need movers, she only wanted to rent a moving truck. She should not have put information into the system if she didn't want calls and emails and if she wasn't really seeking moving services. You should never input your personal information into a quote site, or any site for that matter, if you are not looking for services and don't want calls, because that information is going to be sold. As for us "hurting" as she so eloquently stated, to the contrary, we are booked for the next 10 days and we wanted to see if this was a real customer that we could schedule later or refer to a reputable company. It's never good to assume anything. Additionally, we did apologize for any inconvenience that our calls may have caused because she was at work. However, she requested the quote WHILE SHE WAS AT WORK and we called withing 5 minutes of getting the request. Since she wasn't looking for movers, she never should have initiated the process, especially while she was at work and couldn't get calls. But the longer you live and stay in business, the more you realize just how strange some people are.

They Did An Awesome Job!
This was my second time using Total Moving. They moved us into storage until our place was ready and we decided that it was best to stick with one company until the moving was done. They did an excellent job without damages. I couldn't be happier with the service.
