Very Negative Experiences with Totem Travel, Kirkl
I had the most sterile, exclusive greetings and initial experiences with both the owner of Totem Travel and the travel agent(s) she employs. They seem very protective of their knowledge of travel destinations, remind one right up front that although they have to make a living sharing the information they gleen from their world travels, it doesn't take the place of one's own research via other means. They seem rather 'bothered' that someone would use them as a resource in planning their vacation. It's probably just indicative of the high-brow sort of arrogance that often comes with Bellevue/Kirkland in general and nothing specific to this business. I was definitively reminded about their monetary motivations/requirements right up front. Elitist in their approach, my experience with them over the phone both gave me the impression that I both wasn't welcomed into their Preferred Customers Club and felt immediately robed of the allure of enjoying my hard-earned vacation days. I'm left to summize then that Totem positions itself as an agency for the wealthy, frequent traveler not for those of us 'unknowlegables' that could most benefit from their expertise.
