We had a mechanic from this company try to diagnose problems with our Perkins diesel. He assured us he was knowledgeable about Perkins diesels. It took him 5 months of throwing parts at the thing for it to show only a slight improvement. This mechanic does not know how to set the timing on the injection pump although he will tell you he does. He ended up removing the injection pump 3 times before finally agreeing to seek the help of an expert. He was supposed to be the expert, telling us about all his diesel related experience, which must be highly exaggerated. We then had a Perkins diesel expert come and look at the engine and he diagnosed the problem in 30 minutes. At least the owner was sympathetic and only charged us for the labor to remove the pump one time. But, how much is 5 months of my wasted time worth? I should be sending them a bill. If you like your boat I would recommend keeping the mechanics that work at this establishment a safe distance away. I wouldn't let them change my oil.
