We took our dog due to kennel cough since by history she wasn't able to breath well last year with the same problem. She is very susceptible since she gets preventative treatment. The doctor was OK... although said she would write Rxs and gave us costly medications instead and never came back to exam room. We chose to ask for the Rx for the antibiotic since you could get it free at Publix which if we know, I am sure they also know. We could have gotten cough med. much cheaper with a Rx also but the receptionist was very rude. We really should have waited to see our own vet since nothing was done until the next morning anyway. Expected to get a shot of antibiotic and for cough to help our dog's symptoms until the next morning. Last year was a much better experience for the same problem.

They need to be investagated Horrible!!!, 7/01/2012

Our cat ate some string and was trying to throw it up. The D/G Emergency Vet said there was nothing they could do and offered no other suggestions except to put our cat down. We did not want that and... decided to wait it out until our regular vet could see us the next morning. So the only thing they offered was some sort of medicine to "calm" our cat and a $1800 bill. When we asked why the high bill they said that this was standard. Our cat is fine thanks to our regular vet. DG Vet management need to reevaluate their emergency staff. I am completly discussed on how this was handled.

Sympathetic and Caring End of Life Pet Treatment

From the moment I called, the voice on the phone was kind, calm and reassuring. We had an old cat and knew the day was coming when the terrible decision had to be made. Once it was clear the cat was in discomfort and the end inevitable, it was after-hours for our regular vet but we were referred to here and I'm so glad. Everyone was comforting, professional and sympathetic. They reassured us and let us stay with her as long as we wanted to say good-bye. The vet explained what to expect so there were no surprises and our beloved pet was allowed to slip from the world with the ease and the peace of wild things.

Caring and Concerned

Took my 9mth Maltese puppy after I noticed a red and swollen eye. They saw me immediately, although the price was a little high, I thought they did a great job. Even tried to work with what I could afford to pay. They really do care and want to help.

Wonderful

We just took our dog here this past weekend after he ate rat poison. They were so friendly, quick but thorough and truly wonderful. We have never taken our dog to the ER, so we were skeptical of the quality of service, and the prices. We expected to pay a lot, but their prices seemed very reasonable for the situation. We are so glad to have this Pet ER so close by with such wonderful staff!

superb!!

I took my dog there tonight after he started limping. They were wonderful from the reception staff to the vet tech to the vet. Very kind, knowledgable. Facility very clean. I would go there again in a heartbeat if my animal needed ER care.

Life Savers

You don't want to visit this vet, but if you have to, your animal is in good hands. They are open when regular vets are closed and have resources for testing on the premises. Will fax results to your own vet. We were convinced our dog would not survive, yet they correctly diagnosed her and began treatment...she made it!

Awesome!

We have been here three times for our dog. Once for a large cut on the paw, once for a snake bite, and once for a bee sting on the butt (OK we were a little bit paranoid after the snake bite, it was a month later and it began swelling much in the same way as the snake bite...) I have to say I love the vets here--very attentive and knowledgeable. The prices are steep as you would expect for an emergency room, but you can feel confident they will do the best job for your pet in its hour of need. They gave hourly reports on our dog as she was recovering from surgery and even faxed the info over to our normal vet without us asking... Great quality and care...we even asked the vet we saw there if she practiced elsewhere, but unfortunate for us she is strictly an emergency room doc.

HEARTLESS

I went to this emergency veterinary clinic w/my 16 year old dog this weekend. He was very sick and if he could be cured without heroic measures, I wanted to do everything I could. If he was going to die, however, I wanted to make him comfortable and for him to die at home. We did tests, and he had pancreatitis. The treatment is primarily supportive with fluids. Of course, the vet wanted me to have him stay, but we eventually agreed that they would send me home with fluids and we would see what happened (I had adequate pain meds from another problem long ago). When I returned home from work the next day, the dog was doing bettter, so I returned to DGAE to purchase more fluids. Unfortunately, in their kind wisdom, the vets on call at this wonderful establishment refused to sell me the fluids, stating that I had to bring my dog back in for them to assess, since apparently they did not seem to trust the assessment of their own colleague from the day before. They didn't even have the courtesy to speak to me themselves. They left it to their young front desk clerk. My dog died that night -- he certainly might have died anyway -- however, I was not able to obtain the fluids that might have saved his life. Hasn't the veterinary field heard of palliative care? I am finishing my medical training currently, and I know my colleagues would never force a patient to die in the hospital or refuse palliative care (fluids and pain meds). These people are heartless.

Sad place to be

When you have to go here it is a good place to be with your animal. The doctors do care about the animals. Your animal will be taken care of not matter what.

Compassionate & Kind

I took one of my cats in because he was unresponsive and could not control himself. These people were so nice to me. Being an emergency room for animals is a hard job. They were so nice and explained what they could to me. They gave me options and prices so that I could know what to expect. I thank them for saving my little guy's life.

Wonderful

I wish they weren't just for emergencies, because I'd make them my regular vet service. They helped me via telephone years ago when I lived in North Georgia and there was no local emergency service. Last year when I had moved back to Atlanta, I needed them after hours and they were great.
