Not bad, but some problems encountered, 1/28/2011

First time using them: No complaints. Very quick and efficient move (from the seventh floor of an apartment to the sixth), and very reasonable price. Second time using them: Also solid, reasonably... priced, but some problems this time. They packed the truck great! But then, their truck broke down. Of course, this was not their fault, but this caused them to arrive nine hours later than they had promised, at around 1:00 AM - not the ideal time to unload. They apologized for this (and in fairness, they were very fast at unpacking with double the man-power due to the late hour), but still charged me the full quoted price. Later, they said they would reimburse me $50 for the hassle. It wasn't much, but I appreciated the token gesture. But they never followed through. Now, after three months of my calling and emailing them 11 times, I'm giving up on the $50, and I'm writing this review instead. If they ever send me the $50 they promised, I'll consider upgrading this review from two stars to three, but until then, my review stands. The bottom line: If everything goes smoothly, these guys are a pleasure to work with, but if there are ever any problems, don't expect them to make great efforts to compensate you for the trouble.

Stole my keyboard and TV, 7/09/2010

This was the second time I used Via Moving. The first time it went well, although a broken item...but, that happens. I called on them again, the packing went quite well, but the movers that showed... up the next day were asking repeatedly if I really wanted certain items in the smaller place I was moving to. They kept me away from the truck and wouldnt let me in the back to check if it all the "empty" boxes were empty. "Oh - here is your old TV, here you go, sorry...nothing else here... The next day I realized my keyboard was still on that truck and he had been lying . Via management didnt do anything, or call me back for days. The keyboard is gone, and unless you take the extra 2 hours to paste numbers on EVERY single item, you can forget about getting any money back for damage or theft. Dont use this crew unless you are prepared to stay with them THE ENTIRE move - outside and inside...impossible.
