While I live too far from Vernon Woods Animal Hospital, Dr. Prescott did an outstanding job caring for my three cats at another location. She is an excellent and compassionate vet who truly cared about my cats. I had one cat with a range of high maintenance health issues, and another with behavior issues. Dr. Prescott went the extra mile to research the very latest studies to ensure that my cats were receiving the most effective available care. She was thorough, clear and appointments and conversations never felt rushed. I highly recommend her!

My 14 yr old Sheltie needed dental work; Dr. Empel (Andrew) did a fantastic job (my poor little guy's teeth were a mess)! I have also boarded my dog a couple of times and the staff is wonderful. If you need a vet in Sandy Springs look no further!

My Poor little Mo Mo was hit by a car and Dr. Empel met me at the clinic. The staff waited after hours and treated my fire-rescue great Dane Greyhound who needed an expensive surgery that I was not prepared for financially. Dr Empel offered treatment options and worked on him that night. As of last week, My Mo Mo is jumping and running!

I took my dog Willy to Dr. Wood for 10 years until he died unexpectedly at age 15. I found her to be an excellent vet and extremely caring. When things were serious she called me at home to advise and comfort me. There are some things you can't put a price on and Dr. Wood is one of them.

I dropped off my dog for grooming and for the shots that were required for grooming. When I picked her up the bill was outrageous! More than half what I anticipated. They did some tests that I did not even ask for. When I told them I was not paying for those tests, they became very rude. A doctor should not argue with a customer the way he did. I will never ever go back.

Place has been around for over 30 years, but these Vets are the best. They care, prices are reasonable for area, and are great Vets as well. The staff is great as well. I usually use Dr. Andy Empel, but have never had a bad experience.

I would not leave my dog or cat here. I have been there once before on an emergency visit and will not go back. While there, I took a tour... The entire facility smells like urine-unsanitary! Check out the boarding crates, they are all the same size regardless of your pet's size. It's more like the feel of a humane society rather than a vet clinic. No personalized care for your pet. Would never leave my pets there.

I have been taking my mini daschound there for about a year now and I don't find them very personalble. I think they are too large to give/respond as I would like them to. Mine, too, got sick while she was boarded over a weekend and was dehydrated. She lost about 4-5 lbs. I am currently looking for another vet.

I have been taking my pets to VWAH for close to 20 years now and even though they are a looooong drive for me to get to, I continue with them because of the caring attitude and excellent service my pets and I have always received. Dr. Mills is my favorite, but I haven't found a lemon in the bunch. At one time I had a VERY ill pet that required a LOT of visits, tests, and treatments with them and I ran up a huge bill. They allowed me to pay it off over time even though that is not their policy. They are very understanding.

i had been a customer for several years when i boarded my 6 year old lab there over a long weekend. when i picked him up, he was exhausted looking, had cuts on his paws, legs and some sort of skin irritation. i waited two weeks to see if it would go away, but it worsened even after medicated shampoo. when i called the clinic and requested they examine him - at no charge - they refused. so i voted with my feet. there are any number of vets out there which are fairer, better practitioners and cheaper.

Have been using this vet since October 2004 when I first adopted my puppy and have had very good service. They make my dog feel comfortable and cared for. Dr. Nix is my dog's favorite doctor. She knows his breed well (Welsh Terrier) and has helped solve his itchy skin problem. She really cares about him and his good health. Yes, they're a bit expensive, but worth it to me due to Dr. Nix and their Sandy Springs location.

I have been a client of Vernon Woods for close to 30 years. Dr. Mills has always treated our pets as his own. Dr. Emple has also had a wonderful "bedside manner." I had to have my 17 year old cat put to rest in March, and the entire staff treated me like family (AND like THEY were losing a family member!). I've never compared prices because I don't care due to the care from the staff. That is something that is invaluable!

I had been a client of Vernon Woods for over 30 years, I have become very disappointed over the last several years. Unfortunately, I have found that over the years the prices continue to increase and the quality of care has decreased. Although many of the vets are very kind, I find that they are not up to date in comparison to many of the other veterinarians in town. I have found many cases in which an "answer" has been given without fully knowing if it is the correct one. I would much rather have someone say I don't know and refer me to a specialist, than have my pet on unecessary (sometimes harmful)medication. After years of paying too much and getting mediocre care, I switched to a veterinarian that has state of the art equipment and yet still costs less.

After being a client of this animal hospital for over twenty years, our family will not return. Over the course of two years, our pet was treated for hairballs and asthma, instead of heart disease. He was even given medicine for asthma. Another hospital properly diagnosed him, but it was too late for our pet. When we questioned this, the vets made it seem as if we didn't diagnose the problem. Who's the vet?
