Daniel D. Von Hoff, MD, is currently a professor of medicine, molecular and cellular biology and pathology, and director of the Arizona Cancer Center at the University of Arizona, in Tucson. He is also the codirector of clinical research for US Oncology.
Dr. Von Hoffs focus is the development of new anticancer agents; both in the clinic and in the laboratory. He strives to come up with new treatments in the battle against cancer.
His laboratory focus and contributions are in the.. areas of in vitro drug sensitivity testing to individualize patient treatment; gene amplification, particularly of extrachromosomal DNA; and targeting telomere maintenance mechanisms. Dr. Von Hoff and his laboratory are also concentrating on discovering new targets in pancreatic cancer.
Dr. Von Hoff is past-president of the American Association for Cancer Research, a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a member - and past board member of - the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Additionally, he is the founder and Editor Emeritus of Investigational New DrugsThe Journal of New Anticancer Agents, an associate editor of Clinical Cancer Research; and co-editor of ONE (ONcology Economics). Dr. Von Hoff is also on the editorial boards of Anticancer Drugs and the International Journal of Oncology, and is credited with publishing over 470 papers, 120 book chapters, and 800 abstracts in his career.
