Wahoo! A Decatur Grill

I finally got around to visiting Wahoo Grill today for lunch. We were seated in the pretty, airy back area which I found very pleasant. The menu seemed a little ordinary to warrant the upscale prices, but the burger I ordered, which came with a smattering of overcooked fries, was very good. The service, however, was not good at all. Most of the wait staff appeared to be more interested in chatting with each other than attending to the diners. When we finally told one of them we were ready to order, she said she would go get our server. When our server arrived, she made it a point to mention that we had apparently confused the other server with her. I don't generally go to a restaurant to be embarrassed by the staff, but whatever. The general inattentiveness continued for the rest of the meal. I would expect any somewhat upscale restaurant to train their wait staff much better than this. Considering the hype, I expected more.

Pam the owner accommodated about 30 of us from The Atlanta Running Meetup a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday morning for brunch. I made reservations with her about a week before, and we couldn't have asked for better service. The food was fantastic, and the staff were professional and courteous. At one point Pam came over to our tables and asked if the temperature in the room was comfortable for us. Pam takes a great deal of pride in what she does, and it certainly shows. I highly recommend it.

Cool place to try in Decatur: This is one of my favorite restaurants in Decatur. It has an upscale menu at reasonable prices. I've been twice for lunch and once for dinner. Because the restaurant is small, the dinner crowd makes it quite noisy and crowded as in any great restaurant, but it was still a lovely experience. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather, because I really want to check out the patio out back. It looks like it would be wonderful for intimate, romantic dinners and probably not as noisy. The food is great. I've head the mahi mah twice and really enjoyed it. I've also had the shirmp and grits, which I enjoyed and tasted the seared Tuna (which was excellent). That will be my next entree to try. The service has always been excellent. So, if you are looking for a small out of the way place that serves very good food and has a really nice atmosphere, check out the Wahoo Grill.

I've been twice now. Both times were so so. I'm not very picky, but the food so far has been consistantly bland. My chicken was bland and it was a dish I cook much better at home (I wasn't expecting something I cook at home.) For the price, I thought it would be tasty, served hot, and at least plated nicely. The whole plate was blah and served lukewarm. My husband ordered the special pasta. It was more bland than my dish. Nothing to write home about. The $10 simple ceasar salad, not including meat, was the size of a side salad. It was a bit tiny.The calamari was the same stuff you get at any typical restaurant and the chocolate cake tasted grocery store bought. The service was very good. I do recommend you ask to sit in the main dining room. We got there early, on both visits, and were sat in the back, which seems to be where they stick all the little kiddies. Being a table of all older adults, I would have thought we would be put in the empty front vs surrounding us with 3 tables of very small screaming children on the echoing patio.

I recommended this restaurant to my husband on our 32nd anniversary. Though the food was good, service was friendly, and the atmosphere nice; it was not the best evening for us. The food arrived over 1 and half hours late and when it arrived, the trout was missing and the side i ordered was on my husband's plate. The bread pudding was good too. Maybe it was a bad night. Not Wahoo for us yetwe may give it another try....
