A real Japanese restaurant in Atlanta, 12/21/2009

Waraku is a real treasure for my wife and me. We used to live in Japan and we feel like we’re back in Japan every time we go to Waraku. We prefer to sit at the sushi bar and order multiple appetizers... (Izakaya style) rather than order entrees. Waraku has the BEST appetizers of any Japanese restaurant we’ve tried in the Atlanta area. The volcano roll is our favorite. The wait staff and sushi chef are always polite, although the waitresses can get overwhelmed on busy nights and mess up your order. We’ve tried other Japanese restaurants/sushi bars in the Atlanta area; some of which cater to Japanese businessmen and yuppie types. We’ve tried the Americanized teppanyaki “Steak and Sushi” places. We prefer Waraku because it’s a wonderful and genuine Japanese family restaurant where we can feel the heart of Japan and eat wonderfully delicious appetizers.

New Favorite

We've been searching for a new sushi place for awhile and found Waraku by chance. The sushi was delicious and reasonably priced. The attention by the staff was also great. It's a smaller place with calm/quiet setting. I find the true test of sushi is not only how it tastes, but how you feel a few hours later (yes, odd as that sounds, I've had yummy sushi that left me feeling really awful a few hours later). I felt great after Waraku - yyaay!!
