Whitner, Daniel J Jr DDS

I had to have a root canal on a tooth that had an exposed/infected pulp. Dr. Whitner was so compassionate. He and his assistant Phyliss went above and beyond to ensure that my pain and discomfort were minimal. He's a very kind and gentle dentist who takes his time to make sure that things are done properly and that the patient is comfortable.

I have worked in dental offices for nearly 20 years in Atl area, including working for endodontic (root canal specialists). I have worked in dental offices that refer quite frequently to Dr. Whitner who accepts many insurances unlike most root canal specialists. Of the hundreds of patients we referred to Dr. Whitner, none every complained and many were quite happy. Dr. Whitner's root canals appeared to be done quite well. Also, while I do not claim to be an expert on the topic, I believe that dry sockets come from extractions and not root canals. With root canals, post-operative pain is extremely common and can usually be relieved with Advil.

In 2003, Dr. Whitner performed a root canal on me that ended up going wrong. I, never even having a cavity b/f, had no idea what to expect. I ended up with a severe dry socket infection. I was extremely painful that day and first thing the next morning, I called to ask for advice/pain relief. The receptionist/office manager would not answer the phone. I left a message and she never called me. When she did call me back, I was in agonizing pain and she told me that she had a stressful day, that I should have a little more understanding, and that if I was in that much pain, I could have called 911. Dr. Whitner was very apologetic finally when he called me back 4 hours after the receptionist was so rude to me and finally told me to go back to my dentist. Obviously has no spine when it comes to dealing with employees. I'm terrified of dentists now b/c of this and couple it with his cohort, Dr. John Graham, DDS in Marietta. I would recommend going elsewhere if your wallet can allow it.
