I contacted Joe and his team to fix a serious drainage issue in my front yard. He was very responsive to my initial request, developed a great and reasonably priced plan to solve the issue, and even acted as my advocate to accelerate the HOA approval process. As soon as I got the green light from the HOA, Joe's team began work the next day. They worked quickly, with incredible attention to detail and an eye for aesthetics, and removed 2 trees and their roots, graded my entire front yard, and installed sod, bushes and mulch all within a few days. The outcome certainly exceeded my expectations, and I'm so happy that I finally have a beautiful front yard. I will definitely use them again when I'm ready to tackle my backyard. Thanks, Joe!!

We needed help with erosion issues as our home is on a slope. Our yard was in really bad shape before Joe and his team fixed that. They created a new river bed, and planted various plants down the slope to help with erosion. He also pruned and mulched the entire yard. Joe was wonderful to work with. He came in and evaluated the yard, came up with a proposal that worked for us, and started the work immediately. Whitwell landscapers are perfectionists in everything they do. Our yard never looked the way it looks now. We are very pleased with the work done and will definitely be hiring them to do more work for us in the future.

I had a drainage problem on one side of my house. Water was going under the foundation of my ranch home causing my wood floors to crown. Joe landscaped the side of my house to allow rain water to drain to the creek in the back of my house. Excellent work! Would use Joe Whitwell again! He knew exactly what I wanted! We will be able to mow the area and did not need all those expensive french drains!! Thank you!!
Whitwell Landscaping - Joe Whitwell Redesigned the earth on the side of my house so rain water would drain to the creek in back of the house. After the job was complete they seeded/strawed the area.

The landscaping and drainage in my 13 year old yard was a wreck after the trees put in by the builder had become too large. Joe redesigned the yard, took out one tree, installed appropriate sod/bedding/plants, put in an awesome drainage system with river rock, and fixed everything. We could not be happier.

Whitwell put in a circular patio w/fire pit. Joe developed a design to meet our needs that was a cost effective solution. His crews showed up on time each day and worked the project to completion. The end result exceeded out expectations, I would not hesitate to refer Whitwell Landscape to a friend. Lynn Robison

Whitwell Landscaping exceeded my expectations! I called Joe Whitwell earlier this fall to get a quote to landscape my back yard. After meeting with Joe, he had me meet with his landscape designer, Bill, to develop a plan. I had a list of shrubs and trees that I wanted to plant but didn't know how to lay it out. Bill developed a beautiful design and after a little longer than expected wait (due to a couple of weeks of rainy weather) Joe & his team installed the trees, shrubs and perennials over several days. They did an amazing job & were well worth the wait! I am a gardener and I'm particular about how things looked. Joe was awesome about that too - always making sure I liked where everything was going. He also has an eye for detail which I appreciated. Don't hesitate to call Whitwell Landscaping. You'll be happy you did! PS - I'd like to add before & after photos but do not have access to upload them for this review on Kudzu. I'll check back later to see if that changes.

We moved into a new townhome in April 2014 with a small backyard. Though the builder tried over and over to correct it, the backyard remained a muddy, unusable mess (as were all of our neighbors). Whitwell was cocky about their ability to correct drainage issues and I really liked that. Once we came up on their schedule (took a while because they are busy), they moved pretty quickly. (It's worth waiting for them). We now have a beautiful backyard with hardscaping and plants. The guys he had do the patio and gas-fed fire pit are true craftsmen. And, he actually has a higher expectation level than I did, because when I thought something was completed and looked great, twice, he had his team redo certain things to get up to his standards. They are not inexpensive, but the quality to cost ratio is better than any other bid that we had gotten. Highly recommended. (And, not only are our drainage issues corrected, fixing ours seems to have corrected at least the next two lots drainage issues)

Whitwell Landscaping did a great job in cleaning/clearing out a large heavily wooded area in our yard. He and his team cleared all the small trees, vines and brush out, and chipped all the debris. Afterwards the area looks great and we have a beautiful view of it from our house. His price was very reasonable (as compared with some other landscapers). His team showed up on time as agreed and completed the work on schedule. One of my neighbors has already asked for his contact info. I intend to get some more one by him in the future.

Joe and team just did a landscape makeover for me and from design through installation the experience was 5 star. Fast, affordable, courreous, and the results I wanted. Recommended by me!

Based on Kudzu reviews I called Joe, and a couple of other landscapers, last September to give me an estimate on a small patch of our front yard for landscaping work. While Joe wasn't the lowest quote, what sold me on him was his professionalism, knowledge, and ideas. He suggested a design for the work as well as what plants to use. He and the crew arrived on time, and were in and out in under 3 hours. The landscaped area looked very nice but I held off on this review to see how things survived after the winter freeze. This spring very single plant came alive and bloomed - blue aster, gold mound spirea, and chanson azalea. We didn't lose anything, and the bloodgood maple looked particularly impressive. I will definitely use Joe again.

We live in an area with a lot of elevation change. As a result, we have always struggled with water runoff; having washed our original landscape completely off a couple of times. Our builder failed repeatedly to fix the problem. I hired a landscaper who, on the first day, bogged his rented backhoe down in the mud and blew his budget. I brought Joe out and he immediately came up with solutions after evaluating from all angles. I conveyed my vision to him about mitigating the run off problems while turning a mud collection area into an area with a century old fire kettle and a place our family can enjoy. I gave Joe my budget and he came back with a scope of work that was in my budget, not 25% more like others I've dealt with. Now I will say this, don't expect Joe and his team to start work the next day. He is EXTREMELY busy, and IMO, that is good. It means people like his work, and he controls every job, not just assigning it to a crew. Joe was out everyday on my job, running the bobcat, tiller, digging, shoveling, and raking. He will work, and does not sit behind a desk. As a result, he maintains a close watch on exactly every element of the job and will jump on his crew if it isn't right. Joe did a great job of 'rerouting' the water by installing 3 dry river beds, raising my backyard by 3' and other work seen in the pics. I highly recommend Whitwell Landscaping, and I am sure to contract them over the winter for more work. 5 STARS

We hired Joe and team to fix drainage problems in the back yard, level yard and recommend and lay a shade tolerant sod. For the first time in 10 years our yard looks great!!! Job was done in 2 days, sod laid in May, now it's July and we have the greenest grass in the neighborhood! Friendly, professional, easy to work with !
