I recently had to leave my 13-year-old dog at Winding Creek Kennels while I was out of town. He is not just a dog--he is a member of my family! I was concerned because he is taking several different medications and needs some special care. When I arrived, I was checked in by a very friendly and efficient young lady in the front office (the owner was present as well). She took careful notes about his meds and asked questions to be sure she had everything correct. The kennel was immaculate, and it was obvious that not only do they take good care of their "guests" but they treat the owners with respect as well. My experience at Winding Creek was 100% positive, and I wouldn't hesitate to leave my dog there again should the need arise.

It's not that we don't trust our neighbors, but for our total peace of mind, especially when we're gone for a week, we take our cats to WCK. We've been using them for 10+ years now and can't say enough good things about them. They have always been professional, attentive and caring. Great facility, too. It's more than obvious that they love their own animals, and they extend the same level of care to their clients' pets. Grateful we found them!

WCK is the greatest! They genuinely love and enjoy animals and my dogs know it. They're very knowledgeable about dogs and cats and their unique needs. These people grieve along with their clients whenever a family pet passes. They provide great care at a very reasonable rate. They're the best, in my opinion!

We've been going to Winding Creek Kennels (WCK) for 17 years, and I wouldn't consider leaving our dog with anyone else. Ed and Joan and their team are amazing. Many of their staff have been with them as long as we have been going there. They are all experts, animal lovers, and complete professionals. Our dogs love going to WCK. Our previous dog, Willie, would whine with excitement when he saw us packing up his "suitcase." When we got to WCK, he would jump out of the car, rush to the door, and then drag the WCK staff member back to the kennel area without a backward glance at us. As Willie aged, Ed and Joan, the owners of WCK, often were able to give us great tips on dealing with his health problems. When he started losing his sight and didn't want to eat out of bowls anymore, they gladly switched to feeding him off of a plate. Once, when we were overseas, they noticed a lump on his gum. We already had had it checked but had forgotten to tell them. They drove Willie into Athens to his own vet to have it checked, and then called us in Germany to let us know. As Willie became increasingly picky with age and infirmity, Joan would boil a chicken for him to encourage him to eat. They play music in the kennel at night & a staff member walks the kennels during storms to soothe anxious dogs. Our current dog loves WCK, too. We have complete peace of mind leaving him there because we know that Ed & Joan care for our dogs as they do their own.

Our fur children love WCK - they might even like it better than home. They come back from their vacation - and it is a vacation for them, in great shape and worn out from play. Since we also also tired after a trip, this works out great.

When they make the next Homeward Bound movie, they should film the last, happy scene at Winding Creek Kennels. This place is doggy and kitty heaven. We took 3 dogs there over Mem. Day weekend and were very impressed. Prices were in line with other kennels, but facilities and staff are far above anything else out there. Dog runs are clean and well ventilated. This is a really top notch facility and crew.

I normally board my Shepherd at the vet. On my last visit to the vet for his routine vaccinations, I asked to see where they keep pets when being boarded. At first, they did not even want to show me, but when I got insistent, they took me back.. a very small area all inside. I tried Winding Creek for the first time over the holidays...wow... huge runs, a large staff. That's all they do, care for pets. I will never leave my Shepherd at the vet for boarding again ! Winding Creek was fantastic, my Shepherd was a very happy camper...

My Rotty/Akita mix can be a bit intimidating. He is 110 pounds and acts like he is going to attack any stranger he meets and is also very aggressive with other dogs. I have had to search far and wide for a good boaeding facility that will take Max as I can just not have him couped up in some crate. I drive out to Winding Creek Kennels from Atlanta as they are very comfortable with large breeds and have no problem approaching him and handling him. On my first visit I came in with Max wearing a muzzle the owner came out to the lobby, sat on a chair asked me to stand next to him, and within seconds he was petting Max. He then asked for the muzzle to be removed.....no problem at all. Max did wonderful and the staff had no problem taking him back to his run. Now each time I drive out to Winding Creek Kennels, as soon as we exit Hwy 316 Max gets very excited as he knows where he is going and really loves it at Winding Creek Kennels.

I have been boarding my Lab there for several years. I almost feel hurt picking him up, because he really doesn't want to go home. He has a blast at Winding Creek!! They have huge runs and a very professional staff. Honestly, if I can't get my Lab into Winding Creek..I would cancel my trip. Word of advice, book early during summer and holidays..they frequently book up.

I love boarding my 2 dogs here. They are always happy when they get to the kennel, so I know they are well loved. I have used the pet taxi on more than one occasion, and when picked up or dropped off they get some love from the staff. I am so happy I found Winding Creek Kennels. Everyone is so pleasant, and the facility is well taken care of.

My shepherd stayed at winding creek for the holidays last year and I was very satisfied with the care she received and the curteous customer service I received. We are heading back there for the holidays. I highly recommend Winding Creek.

The people at Winding Creek are fantastic. Very friendly, professional, and meticulous. They quickly offered me a tour on my first visit, and they were able to answer all of my questions. The facility is immaculate and well-maintained. I cannot speak to the size of the cat quarters, but the dog kennel spaces are huge. You are welcome to bring your pet's own food and toys. I like it that they offer nature walks (they're located in a somewhat rural area, which is great) and play times. Their prices are comparable to or better than other high-quality kennels. We've had some bad boarding / doggie daycare experiences in the Athens area in recent years, and we were very happy to find an excellent facility. The employees at Winding Creek love animals and, just as importantly, really know animals and respect pet owners. When I told them about the behavioral quirks of one of our three dogs, they really listened to me. Unlike the employees of the place to which we used to take our dogs, the people at Winding Creek know that it is very likely that you know more about your dog's personality and needs than anyone else. Our dogs are treated so well at WCK, and so are we humans!

As someone who has spent the last 20 + years heavily involved in animal rescue, the care and treatment of pets is extremely important to me. I probably worry more than the average person about my pets while I am gone; they are my "fur kids" and I can't leave them with just anyone. Winding Creek Kennels has been a lifesaver! When I first starting bringing my pets to WCK, I worried constantly about how they were doing, whether they missed me, etc. Now, 17 years later, I can safely say, my dogs love it there! Since day one, they have always come home happy, stress free dogs! Another thing I really love about Winding Creek is that all their staff truly love the animals. It isn't "just a job" to them. One of the ladies in the office even fosters a dog for the local humane society. I know for a fact that almost everyone on staff has a rescued pet, including the owners who have 3! The owners have even gone out of their way to donate a run to their local humane society. I guess what I really want to stress, is that these people really care about what they do. They have always treated my pets like they were their own. They are passionate about caring for animals. They are there because they want to be and love what they do, not because it is an "ends to a means" and a way to make money. It just makes me feel that much better about leaving my pets, knowing they are with people who truly care about them.

I have been bringing my 3 cats to Winding Creek now for 4 years. They always get plenty of love and attention and never mind being left there. I actually think they enjoy all the activity going on and the attention given. Would never take them elsewhere because the staff here is so loving.

I have been bringing my two German Shepherds to Winding Creek for years now. They LOVE it there! The facility is in the country, on a farm, the dogs watch the other animals, go on nature walks, have playtime, are fed the best food, listen to pet Cd's, and look adorable when I pick them up, all washed with bandannas around their necks appropriate to seasons and holidays too. The owners are great and caring. I also love that they live on the premises so they are available if needed, unlike other facilities that lock up the pets at night when the staff goes home and noone is there. I will not board them anywhere else. I had tried other places and they were sad and lonely. Here they always see people and other animals. They are even planning to build a pool for dogs. It is truly a resort and a safe and loving place to bring your fur kids! Worth the half hour drive there, worth ANY drive there. One person drives from Virginia just to board his dog there and then flies out on business from Atlanta.
