We had a great time sailing with Dave and Patti at Windsong! They definitely made us feel safe and we can't wait to go out on their boat again soon!
We booked a couples dine and cruise charter with Windsong sailing And had the best time ! Dave was very specific in his directions on what to bring and how to get there and even went out of his way to reschedule around weather for us so we could see the best sunset! And we did!!

What a pleasure we had making Johnny's sailing birthday dream come true! You both had such a wonderful time. Your thirst for adventure and knowledge made the experience all the more exciting for others aboard as well. Time spent on the water is a special time for us and we were honored to share that time with you both. We look forward to having you aboard in the future as you continue to pursue your dreams.
My husband has an itch to buy a boat! So, we are going to do this properly and first learn how to sail. I bought my husband a 5 hour course with 1 sailing outing for his birthday, but after speaking with Capt Dave and setting up his instruction I decided to join in as well. Not only that, but I went ahead and bought an extra sailing outing so we were out on the water on Mother's Day for a back to back lesson and it was fabulous!! Very well instructed. We learned a lot of basics such as maneuvering, how to call out crew instructions, jibing, tacking, wind directions, "tell tales and what are they", rescues, etc... of course I am still NOVICE. No way after that am I ready to sail, but the love of learning how is now part of us. What's cool about Windsong is the instruction is at your own pace and you'll be "part of the crew" from the very beginning. I checked into many sailing schools and the others didn't leave a good impression on me after speaking with them. This is the right one for serious sailors. We are both beginning this journey together and are now enrolled in courses throughout the year. A big thanks to both Capt Dave and Patti, as well as the "patient" crew with us that day. Everybody helped us out and everybody showed great care to us and patience while we learned. Fit right in! Even got to watch a "solo sail" from a crew member. Can't wait to get back out on the water!

Thank you for your kind words and valuable review. It's difficult for prospects to select a school that meets their needs and values. Heart felt feedback is important to guide folks to a school they trust and feel comfortable at. You both have the right attitude toward this sport and it is our honor and pleasure to help you pursue your dream. We will move you from "Nervous" to "Novice" quickly while you enjoy your participation in our programs. Just bring your spirit for adventure and we'll do all the rest!
Gave my lovely wife Kim a Windsong Sailing Academy Christmas gift certificate for a Just For Fun, private sailing outing - to sail into the New Year on 1/1/16. Though not intended as a lesson, since we wanted to learn more about sailing Captain Dave and First mate Patti put us to work on basic tasks such as managing sails, steering, tacking and jibing. He explained things in simple, easy-to-understand terms and with a humorous spin that made the trip a whole lot of fun. Our boat a 28' Hunter (Jamaica Lieu) was absolutely beautiful and in immaculate condition - a reflection of Captain Dave's professionalism and the caliber of the Windsong Sailing Academy. We loved our New Year's Day outing, and we are looking forward to enrolling into the series of sailing instructional courses offered by Windsong Sailing Academy, and to getting back out onto the water soon. I actually took a basic sailing theory course today which gives insights that you cannot learn by just being on the boat. Whether a novice like us, or a seasoned sailor - I don't think there could be a better place to go.

There is an old saying that whatever you do on the first day of each year sets the stage for what you'll become during that coming year. What better precedent to set than learning to sail on January 1st! We love working with couples because learning to sail adds a new dimension to relationships and rekindles one's passion for doing meaningful things together. Keep the flame alive and soon you'll be successful at more than you believe possible!
A wonderful and affordable way to "test the waters" or consider our passion for sailing as a hobby or a life style. While enthralled with online cruising videos and sailing books, nothing beats the hands on learning. Captain Dave is most gracious, professional and entertaining in his teaching style. He is the captain we would like to learn all the "right" ways because his teachings are conservative. Safety and comfortable sailing is his aim. After one session with him, we were able to see other sailing videos which did not "teach" Captain Dave's way. We are thankful his lesson is seared in our brains. Now granted, "4 different captains sitting at a bar may have 12 different opinions" he says. But Captain dave always gives the reason behind everything he teaches. From boarding, working as a team and boat maintenance. The pristine condition of his 25 year old Hunter 28 is testimony of his good stewardship of his sailboat. While we are deciding what we will procure in the future for our sailboat (not an endeavor to be rushed into) we counted the costs and decided that it is prudent and cost effective to be a student under Captain Dave until we know and find what we are looking for. Hopefully we shall learn all the pertinent knowledge this man has even though it may take our lifetime. In summary, an outing with Windsong Academy is a real treat for one and for all. An experience shared offers fond memories.

It's always a pleasure to work with students that have a serious goal in mind. Like anything else in life, one only gets a value commensurate to the level of commitment invested. Things of value often are not acquired quickly but you're on the right track and have the right mindset!
My wife and I just completed a sunset cruise with Capt. Dave and Patti. I have been sailing for many years but have never had such a pleasant experience. If you are interested in Sailing this is where you want to go. Ron & Deb Ferrigno

Thanks for all your kind words. It was a wonderful evening on the water and your participation made it all the more special. We're looking forward to making your sailing dreams come true and seeing you both again soon. Capt. Dave.
We knew nothing about sailing but our dream is to be on a boat in the Caribbean in a few years. We had already taken one boating trip to the BVI on a motor boat island hopping at our leisure, numerous cruises, a private charter and was addicted! We wanted to quit spending a fortune on gas and find out how to sail and see if we liked it. Captain Dave made it a great experience from the classroom to the on water outings! We are now 6 months into the program, are certified for basic keelboat, coastal cruising and for bareboat chartering. Lots of work, lots of dedication and lots of patience from Captain Dave! If you want to really learn how to sail, go here! We wanted to ensure we knew how to sail and would be safe with our family on the water, not just pass the tests and get to charter a boat. It's been worth every penny and Captain Dave deserves and enormous "thank you" for helping us move towards our goal of being true sailors. We are just getting started and have a long way to go and will be continuing to further our sailing knowledge with Windsong and Captain Dave! This is how much l have enjoyed it- I have never written a review positive or negative review for any other company but Windsong Sailing Academy!!!

It is with absolute pleasure that I thank you for opportunity to play a role in making this dream come true for you two. Now that you are new boat owners, moved to the coast and are about to set out upon the voyage that all dreams are made of, you've also made one of our dreams come true too. When our students become successful, so do we. We feel blessed when customers are realistic and committed to do whatever it takes to succeed because you are living proof there are no short cuts or quick fixes to competency. We are so proud of you two! Go forth and discover the world as it was intended to be.
Windsong is a professional organization that accommodates the needs of each student. The classroom audit provision is an example. Captain Dave maintains individual charts of each student's progress and tailors sailing outing goals accordingly. Recently, I was the only student scheduled on a Sunday afternoon and instead of canceling the outing because of lack of participation, Captain Dave and Operations Coordinator Ms. Price took me out for 2 hrs of personal training. That afternoon really impacted my progress. Captain Dave teaches with a touch of humor and he is very patient.

I plan to purchase a liveaboard boat and sail in the east coast and Caribbean region with my family (including 2 young kids). It's critical that I become a knowledgeable sailor, operate the vessel safely, and know how to handle potential distress situations. After extensive research I found Windsong and became a student. It's an amazing learning experience. I gain knowledge, expertise, and skill with every session. Capt. Dave has been sailing and racing sailboats most his life, having access to such experience is the right way to learn. Other schools will prepare you for the exam and make sure you pass as quickly and as cheaply as possible. They compete at selling the cheapest sailing certifications possible. Getting a sailing certification, like a driver license, means that you gained the lowest level of expertise allowing you to sail. For sailing you really want to have the highest level of expertise. This is the Windsong promise. Delivered! Capt. Dave turns people into expert sailors. His unique advanced teaching techniques, course plans developed based on real life experience, available topics and class offering makes Windsong the best sailing school in the US. I cannot encourage you enough to come for a 2 hour sailing session and experience firsthand the school, the teacher, and the equipment. Don't sail anywhere else, before evaluating Windsong. I guarantee that you will stay and accomplish your sailing dream safely.

This school serves most age groups, particularly individuals seeking to become competent, safety-conscious sailors capable of handling most sailing conditions. Whatever your goals, mental attitude is important here, not gender or physical stature. Team spirit is fundamental. Be positive and willing to learn even if you have prior experience (as I did). You will make mistakes (everybody does). Not to worry. Captain Dave has a calm and encouraging style in the classroom and on the outings. His professionalism, teaching skills, and sailing knowledge are exceptional, and very much appreciated by this middle-aged student. We all learn to encourage each other while working as a team, training as crew and helmsman. You can be assured Captain Dave maintains his boat(s) immaculately. If you decide to join us, I'm sure it won't be long before the rest of us are learning something from you too! This student looks forward to that. Hope to see you on the water at Windsong!

My wife and I went to Windsong before we did our big vacation trip to the BVI. Capt Dave did a great job of teaching us the practical and the theory behind how to sail. It made our vacation a big success. We would definitely recommend them to anyone who truly wants to know how to sail.

I gifted my young-adult grandsons with a course in theory and on-board sailing. They came back from their training seriously interested in pursuing this sport and with the confidence that they could do it. Thanks Captain Dave!

Windsong Sailing Academy is a first rate sailing school which allows you plenty of hands on time actually sailing. Captain Dave, the owner, is a very experienced sailor who knows how to teach and how to extract the best from his students. This is accomplished in a supportive, non stressful environment. I recommend this school to anyone of any age wanting to learn how to sail.

When I started to look for sailing instruction in Georgia, it was easy to see that Windsong stood out from the other schools just by seeing the incredible amount of information they provided on their website! When I first called with tentative questions, they patiently and thoroughly answered them and made me feel comfortable enough to try them out. I was amazed by the first course I tried (basic sailing theory) with the comprehensive instruction and lifetime course auditing privileges! I wanted to be trained well enough to be considered a safe sailor for my family, and I knew I had achieved that with Windsong the day a fellow student told me "I'm glad you're sailing with us today, I feel safe when you're on board." Instructors are consistent, encouraging, and thorough, and every sailing outing is a successful learning experience, not to mention two hours of bliss, no matter the weather! No where else can you learn celestial navigation, outside of the Merchant Marine! Windsong offers a tremendous number of sailing outings to fit every schedule, there is just no other school like Windsong, they are the best without question!

When I began to look for a sailing class in 1999, I happened upon a flyer advertising sailing classes at the Tucker Rec Center in Tucker, GA. The school was Windsong Sailing Academy. I enrolled, and found that there was a class component, and an on-the-water component. The class component was three sessions of two hours each, and covered everything from all the parts of a sailboat to why sailboats sail. The instructor was dynamic, witty, and thorough in his presentation of course content. A BIG bonus of taking classes with this school is that you can come back for a refresher, no matter how long ago you took the class--and you can do this as many times as you want. The on-the-water classes are as thorough, and are designed to instill, in the student, the confidence to captain, and command a boat and crew of four to five persons. On the water, safety is ALWAYS the top priority, and class is conducted in such a way as to instill that concern for the safety of boat and crew. I give to Windsong Sailing Academy, and its captain instructors, all the credit for setting me on the right path to further my sailing skills, and to expereience the grand enjoyment of this vibrant sport.
