Great doctors, questionable staff
I have been seeing Dr. Arey for several years and I've been very happy with my treatment. The only issue I've run into is the front office staff. A few years ago there were a few times where I thought the staff was kind of rude, but it was confined to one person and she wasn't there the next time I was in. Most recently, there was a minor problem with billing (I was being charged more than I was told I would be for two boxes of contacts) and when I called to find out why I spoke to Karen. She was very rude and acted as though the issue was my fault (even though it was clearly an error on their behalf). I was explaining what I thought had happened to her when she interrupted me to tell me I should probably talk to the person who took my order. I said I didn't think that was necessary and would appreciate it if she didn't interrupt me. She said I interrupted her first, and at this point I was getting frustrated. I asked if she understood I was the customer. At that point she said they would write off the $6 difference. While I was asking her to send out a revised receipt for insurance purposes, she hung up on me. I called back and spoke with her again. She claimed she thought I said goodbye, but we both knew that wasn't the case.

As I said, I've always have excellent care here but the front office staff could use some customer service training.

Couldn't be happier
This is the first time I have ever taken the time to write a review; however, after reading a couple of the other reviews I felt compelled to write one myself. My husband and I have used Windward Eye Care for about 7 years. I typically see Dr. Ayers and my husband sees Dr. Alexander. Over the years we have always been completely satisfied with the service we have received from both the doctors and staff. My husband and I wear contact lenses and wear our glasses mostly just for a short period of time each night. We have always purchased our contact lenses through Windward and have purchased our glasses at a discount retailer due to the fact that insurance will not pay for both and we didn't feel we needed a very high quality frame since we wear them so little. Neither of us have ever received any negative attitude when asking for a copy of our prescription. The staff has always been polite and accomodating to our request. Last year my 8 year old child also needed glasses. Dr. Ayers was very good with my son and the staff helped him to embrace wearing glasses by reassuring him how much better he would be able to see. They helped make the experience very positive when it could have been a negative one for my reluctant son. Later we needed a very quick turn around on sports glasses for my son and the staff once again was polite and accomodating when we requested a copy of my son's prescription. We couldn't be happier with the service we have received.

Go Elsewhere for an eye exam
It has been a while since my experience but it popped in my mind again and I decided to come here to write a review.

I felt the Dr (Arey) was rushing me during my exam. Also, there was another patient he was helping at the same time running back and forth between me and them. This was offensive to me. I am paying for a quality exam, the least I could get is a good 10-15 minutes of undivided attention.

After I left and received my contacts the prescription was incorrect. He lowered the power by over 1.25. Driving I could not see road signs till I was very close. I went back for a recheck and I felt that I got attitude.

Bottom line, my point is go eleswhere and save money you will get just as good of an exam from Wal*Mart or another chain.

I thought I would get a better quality exam going to a private eye care facility, I was sure wrong about that.

I appreciate all communication (even negative). I apologize if I was rushed on the day you saw me. That is not the impression I would like my patients to have. Everybody has days where schedules don't go exactly as we like, including me. I would invite you to contact me as I am open to constructive criticism and I do care. Usually we try to schedule for effeciency and quality time with each patient, but on some days there are eye emergencies or urgent issues that pop up in the schedule that need prompt attention. I apologize again for sharing some of your time with whoever it was that I was helping at the moment. In order to properly explain the contact lens issue, I would need to know who you are to review the situation. I would be more than happy to explain the power change if I can review your chart. In regards to the attitude, I humbly apologize if I gave that impression. Thanks for your input and I will try to keep your comments in mind as I go forward. I hope to receive a call from you soon. If I am with patients, please leave a message with my staff and I will return the call as soon as I can. Ph#678-393-2025 Sincerely, Dr. Tommy Arey

Outstanding Customer/Patient Service
I have been impressed by the high level of professionalism and customer service from everyone at Winward Eye Care over the last four years. My wife and I completely trust Dr. Arey with our vision needs. Given that we use both glasses and contacts, we have a lot of experience with the office and its capabilities. I genuinely appreciate the service we've received, for routine and emergency needs. The office staff has been quite helpful in scheduling visits and ordering contacts for us. Would I recommend them to a friend or neighbor? Without reservation, YES!

Great hospitality, great service, great product
At first when I walked in, I felt like it was a very warm atmosphere with alot of charm. Everything from the front desk to doctors was everything I had hoped. The front desk was very helpful with getting my insurance information. The atmosphere is cool too with an incredible fish tank. Even the puffer fish seems friendly at this office. The music is a wide variety. I didn't feel pressured to get glasses like at other places. They were more than happy to educate me on the benefits of certain upgrades on lens options, but I never felt pressured, just educated. You got me for good.
