I have lived at Winnwood for 5 years and I like my apartment, the people and the environment. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. If I ever need help there is always someone here. I hope I never leave Winnwood! Emma... 89 years young

I worked at Winnwood several years ago when I first moved to Marietta. The people who work there really love seniors. I was constantly encouraged to do my best to make them happy. I was an Activities Director and got to know the residents very well. I would recommend it to anyone!

When Mother moved into Winnwood, we had a "wait and see" attitude. Well, we've SEEN. It is a fabulous place, full of great seniors, fun activities, and kind staff. Anytime Mother needs anything, they are super accommodating. I'm there one to two days a week visiting, and there is always something fun to do. We've been very happy.

This retirement community is family owned and it appears that the family is more concerned with making money than with the safety and health of the residents. One of the sons is very arrogant and acknowledged that they don't like to help the seniors when their health starts to fail because it bothers the more independent seniors. Don't count on this place unless you can guarantee that your loved one won't get dementia or severe health problems down the road. They just want your money for as long as they can take it. If you spend your money here while you're healthy when you develop health problems you'll end up in a Medicaid nursing home because they don't have a system in place to take of you when your health declines. The family apparently just spent a fortune buying more property in Florida so they're trying to make as much money off of their current residents now.

I know Winnwood very well as many of my friends live there. I've been to several of their parties, their big Christmas party, the annual Low Country Boil and the bridge get-togethers. Every staff member there has been wonderful, my friends are very happy and I know that when I retire, Winnwood is where I will go.

Winnwood looks on the outside like a beautiful and caring community, but looks are deceiving. It is obvious once you are a resident that it's only function is to make as much money as possible--which is fine if the services warrant it. The old director, Carol was very caring and kind to all the residents. The new director, Wendy, is very profit motivated and doesn't seem sincere. The monthly cost is very high compared to the services received. We are paying a huge monthly bill and receiving very little, other than an apartment. The nightly meals are mediocre at best. I would not recommend this community. My parents live there and we are searching for a new place.
