So I love Hawaii and I love Hawaiian food but this place falls short in quality. It's certainly cheap and great place to grab a bite. However, if you are seeking authentic Hawaiian lunch plate, keep on searching.

I used to go to the one on Sweetwater all the time, but I've noticed that the food isn't always consistent... maybe depends whose the cook on duty. The Mira Mesa one isn't as good as the National City one. Needs to be more consistent in quality/recipes to compete w/ L&L and get away from mom/pop status.

I love Da Kines. They have excellent Kahula Pig, Lomi Salmon & Lau Lau (but Sunday only)! I wish they had the Lau Lau everyday :) The Saimin is also great!

Da Kines has a few locations scattered around San Diego. I personally dine at the Sweetwater Road location in National City. Being from Hawaii, it was like dining at home.

For the best "Hawaiian Island" style food in San Diego, go here! Try the Kalua Pig, Chicken Katsu, Korean Ribs, and when feeling like you need a man sized meal and crazy... try the "Loco Moco"!

If you have been to Hawaii then chances are you have eaten a Hawaiian Plate Lunch and know how delicious they are. Da Kines brings the hawaiian dish to the shores of San Diego in Pacific Beach and does the island state proud. With your options of Kalua Pig, Katsu Chicken, Spam Masubi, and so many other traditional hawaiian dishes you will find something for everyone to love. This is a must try location!
