The word biscotti has a double meaning. The word is comprised of "bis" which means more than one, and "cotto" which means cooking in Italian. Biscotti are shaped into logs, baked, cooled, and then sliced in diagonals and rebaked. Hence the word biscotti!
If you are searching for biscotti that are reminiscent of Italy then you must try Yole's biscotti!
Yole's biscotti are derived from an old northern Italian recipe using basic ingredients like butter, eggs, flour, sugar, dried.. fruit, and nuts. No additives or preservatives are ever used. After sampling Yole's biscotti I am sure that you will agree that this is an exceptional Italian cookie!
My great grandmother, Elide Brighenti, moved to the United States in the early 1900's bringing with her some old world recipes. One of her recipes that received many accolades from family and friends was her biscotti. My grandmother, Yole Miceli, carried on her mother?s tradition by baking biscotti during our holidays and special occasions. I recently decided that I wanted everyone to be able to experience this true Italian delight. In January 2008 I launched www.yolesbiscotti.com, in memory of my grandmother, offering the consumer several varieties of her traditional Italian recipe. I hope you enjoy these cookies as much as my family.
