Switched Doctors...

I was a patient 6 years, delivering 3 babies. Individually, I loved all the midwives. Scheduling appointments was always a headache, but I hung in there because I liked them. Between pregnancies, I had some abnormal test results, and the doctor had a nurse call me, explain the results, and give me the next course of action over the phone. A few years later, I was scheduled with a different doc for my yearly exam. Again, I had an abormal result. When the nurse called to tell me, she said I would have to come in to the office to get the "next course of action". I asked if she could tell me over the phone to avoid the $40 co-pay (since they had done that before). I was told to reschedule when I was able to pay. This lead me to believe the results were more severe than last time, so I rescheduled a few months later when I was financially able. After worrying for months and then sitting in the waiting room for OVER AN HOUR, the "course of action" she had to discuss with me IN PERSON (and with paying a co-pay, remember) was to "come back in 6 months for a repeat exam". I see no reason why I couldn't have been told this over the phone. I switched doctors and found a much more compassionate doctor who not only sees me in a timely matter but called me herself after my first visit with my test results.
