Good but costly
The service is good, but it's pricey - after I dropped my car off, I checked with the dealer for the same service and it was $200 less for the labor. And their markup on parts is high too (I believe they are required to use NAPA parts, which have a markup already built in). I emailed them a few times about that and never got a response. Also, the mechanic lost the little plastic caps that cover the screws at the top of the hood - when I noticed (at home) I called the shop, the guy on the phone asked the mechanic, and he admitted to dropping them somewhere he couldnt get them. Would have expected them to either tell me or replace them (or both) without seeing if it was something I would notice.

Customer here since 1996...
I’ve been bringing my 1994 Ford Ranger to McCullough auto care since I purchased the truck in 1996. At first it was because they were close to the place where I worked.
Now I bring my truck there because I think they are the most honest, and competent place in town.
They always do a good job, it may take a few days but I’d rather have slow and steady than fast and screwed-up.
Thanks.

Do a decent job and won't rip you off
Let's face it people. Getting your auto serviced ALWAYS sucks. You want the mechanic to do the job right and not rip you off. I've been to a few places in ATL and was very unhappy with the service and the price. Went to McCullough bc of Kudzu rating. They diagnosed and propertly explained the problem to me, gave me my options and estimates for repairs, and did the job right. They even gave me a ride to my office. Go ahead and give em a try.

Soley Inconvenienced
I have taken my vehicle to McCullough Auto Care for the past two years for emissions testing. This year when I took my vehicle in for testing, it surprisingly failed emissions. After being given many possible reasons for the failure (none of which made sense), I took my car to my dealer. My dealer determined that absolutely nothing was wrong with my vehicle. I took the car back to McCullough Auto Care for retesting and it passed without a problem. When I requested an explanation for why the car failed the first time using their machine and then "miraculously" passed when I brought it in the very next day for retesting with the same machine, Eric (whom I believe is the manager) said that they didn't get a good connection to my DLC because of the way my manufacturer had placed it in my car. I guess he didn't realize that I had brought my car to them for the last two years. If there was a problem with the way my DLC was placed into my vehicle, it was because they did not put it back properly after the last inspection. When I made him aware of this, his only response was "Oh really? That's weird." To add to the insult, when I let him know how inconvenienced I had been by the whole situation (spending extra time, LOTS of gas, and money) his only response was "Oh, well we don't do these things on purpose." I was completely in awe with his lackadaisical response to my trouble. He did not even bother to apologize, which was most insulting of all. Not recommended.

You can TRUST these guys!
I recommend McCullough to everyone I know. The service department at my dealer "suggested" over $700 of unnecessary work. It's such a relief to find an auto repair shop that does great work, is honest and friendly. I'll never go to the dealership again!

Reliable, Caring Service
Every interaction with McCullough is amazing, from calling them on the phone, dropping my car off to picking it up, they are helpful, polite and considerate. They seem concerned about giving me the best care for my car at the lowest cost. I have a 97 Land Rover and I would never take my car anywhere else.

wouldn't go back on a dare
Took my VW there to get it done short notice.
I have worked the last 4 years as a Porsche/VW service advisor and told them this

$180 sensor didn't fix it.

Next, $345 thermostat done WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION also didn't fix it.

I'm out $525 and no improvement. They then quote $380 for a water pump, I ask if they can give me a break based on the $525 I have wasted so far, no help. I can't drive the car to a dealer at this point so I give in and say to add the $61 timing belt.

In the end, they charge me $15.01 for gas they couldn't have put in (on Empty when I picked it up), they drove it 70 miles, they double-charged me for coolant EVEN AFTER I DISCUSSED WITH THEM THAT I KNOW THAT ISN'T NEEDED AND WAS ASSURED THEY WOULD NOT (thermostat change required coolant, they don't throw it out to do the water pump).

To top the whole thing off, they told me at least two things that are completely false about cars:
1) Running the car without a thermostat will harm your emissions system LOL
2) "Engine Coolant" and "Water Coolant" are two separate things, they HAD to charge twice

They also did not supply me with the old parts they allegedly replaced before they found the "real" issue so I cannot test them.

Based on the bad diagnoses and the ridiculous info described above, in my assessment, at least two of the guys there are either inept or liars.
Either case is good enough reason not to EVER take your VW there. Maybe they know domestics. Who knows?

Great Service
They are always honest, only perform work that actually needs to be done (unlike many other car shops), timely, polite, relatively inexpensive - the ONLY place I take my car.

Expensive and over charge
These guys talk very nicely to you but they charge you big time. Infact they charge more than firestone. They fix one problem and damn it leads to another problem for which you have to spend again. I dont know how the others gave good reviews here. Probably they have lot of money to keep fixing things or they are one of the guys from McCullough. If you dont believe then ask them for the price and then verify it with firestone.
