Man's WORST Friend
My family and I were planning a vacation, we could not bring our two precious dogs, Bean and Toby. While doing errands, I heard a great ad for Man's Best Friend on the radio. Feeling hopeful, my family and I brought our dogs in the next week. However, when we walked into that HELL, we were met with rude looks and TERRIBLE service. My dogs were nervous and jumpy being brought here, so one of the workers thought it would help if she just YANKED THE LEASH OUT OF MY HAND AND PULLED MY DOGS INTO A SEPARATE ROOM. As I was signing the papers at the front desk the lady there gave me dirty looks and acted impatient. That made me so pissed, I took longer just to get under her skin. When I was done, I had to ask for a tour of where my dogs would stay. Unwillingly, they brought me to the JAIL of where my dogs would be kept. I cursed in horror, as I saw the dark, smelly, loud, and tiny room that my dogs would stay in. I couldn't take it anymore, but the workers there already brought my dogs out to bring them into their cell. As any owner would, I reached down to pet them and hug them goodbye, but the oh so PUSHY workers yanked my dogs away and literally shoved them into their cell.
When we came to pick them up, we were shocked at how THIN they were! Each had lost 8 LBS! Right when they got home, water was the fist thing they looked for.
Still traumatized, my dogs are slowly gaining weight and trusting strangers.

IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THEM TO MAN'S WORST FRIEND.

I would like respond. First, I find your review very inconsistent . Concerning our Kennel facility, it 8500 sq.ft. with 30 ft. ceilings, its equipped with air purification systems, full spectrum lighting and commercial dehumidifiers. We have an outstanding rating by the state that regulates kennel facilities. I have an open door policy for touring the facility and the cleanliness is outstanding. I find it difficult to believe that if you cursed in horror at the conditions of a place you where leaving your dogs, why would you leave them. Dogs are weighed at drop off and throughout their stay. Toby weighed in at 36 lbs and went home at 35 lbs. Bean weighed 28 lbs and weighed 28 lbs the day he went home. An 8 lb weight loss did not happen, I have all the information documented. I invite anyone to take tour of our facility to see how misleading your review is. Lori, Store Manager

Miracle Transition for a Chained Dog!
Man's Best Friend and Joel Johnson, his GREAT TRAINER, saved Roscoe from his own fears!Roscoe was rescued from a life on a chain. The chain was embedded in his neck so you know the lack of attention and love this young dog was given. He was distrustful of men and aggressive toward other dogs..a natural response for a chained dog with a male owner who abused him Joel spent extra time winning his trust and then taught him that Roscoe could relax and let his owner make the decisions. He no longer had to be on the alert for danger. MBF socializes dogs thru time at the front desk in the lobby and also having multiple trainers work with the dog. They work miracles on dogs with problems. I highly recommend them. Roscoe has replaced growling with kisses!

Joel +MBF save ANOTHER Rescue dog thru Training
Joel Johnson is the best trainer I have worked with in rescue. He virtually has saved over 20 dogs' lives thru his MBF training techniques and his professional delivery and skills. LUCY is a dalmation mix,brought from the Bahamas, then adopted, then returned due to getting big, acting like a puppy-chewing, and shedding. Joel could not take care of the shedding but he virtually turned this dog into a maximum-adoptable pet. When I ran an ad for her, emphasizing all the training and behavior traits she acquired, thanks only to Joel, I received 42 serious inquiries about LUCY. We actually got LUCY ADOPTED , then a second dog adopted from the ad and a third is pending. THANK YOU AGAIN JOEL, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEAT!!! M.A.

Joel did it again!
Joel trained the fear out of my rescue Rottie mix,Jack. I was having trouble finding him a home because he had dominance issues and was fearful of some dogs and men. Joel was able to create a calm confident dog who now is able to participate in their Saturday AM classes and is doing great!! He recently also found a WONDERFUL home. Joel has helped create these miracles in the past and once again has come to my rescue!! Thank you!!!!

Helped my Akita Find Himself
My trainer Joel has helped my large dog channel his inner Akita. Before protection training he wouldn't exhibt any protection tendencies. He'd let you do whatever. But since he's been trained this is no longer a concern, he will defend his hearth and home.

Thank You MBF - and Greg! by Julie G. at InsiderPages
A poem written by my Dad for me to give to my dogs trainer, Greg. Greg was awesome with my wild Besenji! Thanks to Greg, Jack is a happy dog and we are a much happier family!

Jack is nimble, Jack is quick
Just like a kid's new pogo stick;
Leaping through windows and my screen door,
Scratching the finish on the new wood floor.

I love this dog; why won't he obey?
What do I do? What do I say?
I can't handle Jack all by myself,
I worry so much 'bout his anger and health.

I've searched everywhere for solace and care.
Was there anyone able to be honest and fair?
To teach my dog to follow my lead; to be
A proud member of his honorable breed?

I was about to give up; and what was the sense?
Jack was just bad; his mind seemed so dense.
Then I found Man's Best Friend and a fellow named Greg
Who has knowledge and love (a teacher's best blend).

The perfect solution I have found
To keep my friend Jack from the county pound!

I cried when I saw the amazing results.
My heart beat so fast with a furious pulse.
I had my dog back and was I ever glad
That now I was happy; no longer so sad.

And it was Greg's doing and I owe him so much;
Truly he has the master's touch. So, thank you all
For being Jack's pal from a very pleased Julie;
One happy gal!

The absolute worst experience
All I heard on the radio was how great this place was. Well we took our dog in for boarding and found an extremely depressing site. I asked to take a tour before dropping my dog off and the request was met with rude remarks. They finally let me in to see the boarding area and to be honest some animal control shelters have better conditions. The warehouse setting was dark and cramped with stalls for dogs about the size of a shower. The had about 30 or so dogs in the steel boarding area and the sound off the walls and the concrete floors were deafening. I was reluctant to leave my dog but had to get on the road. I called the next day to check on the dog to make sure she was eating and was placed on hold for about 10 minutes while they checked. The response was she was just fine. I pick her up the following day and she came out in a comatose state. She was not excited or scarred. She was motionless. On the way back home we noticed that she had some sort of serious goup on her face, matted hair (not hers) in her mouth, and her paws had feces on them. We took her home and let her in the door and she went straight for the water. This was not a good sign as my dog will drink a ton of water on a daily basis. She roughly drank a half of gallon of water withing the first hour of being home. After that she slept for the remainder of the day with nothing able to wake her up. She was oblivious to what was going on. We were concerned about her hearing or the chemical they used in the mandatory bath. Finally after about a 20 hour nap and needing to be helped around the house she got her strength back. She is eating normal now and hearing is back. To say the least WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO MANS BEST FRIEND. If you care about your dog and want them to be healthy and happy when you get back think about sending them somewhere else. Like I said animal control shelters have better condition.

These people genuinely love animals!!! by Courtney H. at InsiderPages
I have used them to board my two dogs, and I was completely satisfied! I feel that they have very fair pricing, and the options for the dogs were great. My dogs seemed a little bummed to see me when I picked them up ;-)
