Really Nice Pool
We are very happy with the way our pool turned out and would recommend Hilltop to others.

We were most impressed with all of their sub-contractors. Everyone of them were easy to work with and listened and responded to the "extra's" that we wanted.

I would recommend making yourself available as much as possible during the construction process to insure you get exactly what you want. If you relay that clearly to Hilltop and their subs, you will be satisfied.

Very disappointed
A disappointment from start to finish. Their work crews damaged our underground wiring, ruined my wife's gardens and left trash (food wrappers, empty bottles, etc) all over our backyard. After filling the finished pool there were no fewer than SEVEN leaks in the system which took two weeks and multiple visits for them to fix. My water bill the next month was $650.00. This company has gotten great reviews on this site and that is why we chose them. We would not recommend them after our experience.

This vinyl liner pool was installed by another pool contractor and we were hired to repair and renovate it. The pool had sunk around 12” in one corner and required a great deal of demolition. It also required tremendous flexibility to the scope of work- which is required when working with another contractor’s workmanship. Our initial scope included removing all of the concrete decking around the pool, removing a wood deck, digging out the soil around the pool, resetting and leveling the pool panels, pouring a continuous concrete footer, backfilling and compacting the dirt around the pool, installing support tubes for the rock coping footing, installing rock coping, re-pouring the concrete decking, installing a heater/salt system/ filter/replumbing the filtration system, and finally installing a new custom fit liner. Changes to our scope (as requested by the homeowner) included installing a large poured concrete retaining wall, removing a 2nd wood deck, and adding a 2nd pool skimmer. We discovered other items under the pool that were destroyed by rust or time and needed to be replaced. Change orders were done for those items. We went above and beyond our obligations by replacing his existing skimmer, existing light niche, existing light fixture, all of the plumbing around the pool and we repaired the steel panels that needed attention. In the interest of good customer relations, we repaired them at no charge.

Unfortunately, his wife’s gardens were damaged due to the fact that they bordered the concrete pool deck that was removed. We are sorry that they were damaged, but we did not affect any areas that were not in our work space. The damaged electric lines were buried directly under our demolition areas. Without question, we replaced them at no charge.

It was unacceptable for our crew to leave trash onsite. Our crews are required to leave the yard in better condition than it was when they arrived. Our salesman spoke with the homeowner when the trash was left onsite, apologized, and had a crew member there within a few hours to pick up the debris.

The complaint of having seven leaks at the end of the project is exaggerated. The customer was not in town at this time but our project manager met three times with a family member to find the leaks. A leak was discovered in the existing light conduit, in the existing pool cleaner pump, and in a fitting that was under the ground at the equipment. Our project manager worked diligently to find and fix the leaks without question and at no charge, even though they were once again beyond our contractual agreement. His water bill would have included filling the pool.

All things considered, this was a successful renovation that brought an old, dilapidated pool back to life. The owner told our project manager that the pool looks “gorgeous,” thus we were surprised to receive this review after so much time has passed. We are always sorry when we may not have honored our Mission Statement.

Our back yard Oasis
We were extremely pleased with the whole pool/spa building process, from Matt's initial design to pool school with Shane. The vision and ingenuity of Matt and Mike to make the pool fit on our space was awesome. We really appreciated Shane's work to oversee the project. Anytime we had a concern, Shane was there to make things perfect. And we also appreciated all the communication emails and updates we received from Jessica. Our pool and backyard space turned out better than we imagined. Thank You Hilltop Family. The Schwartz Family, Tucker GA

What a Great Pool
H.T. Pools did everything for us. From working with the County to get approval to building the best pool in town. They always go the extra mile for their customers. BTW:The grading of the pool was perfect. We had no run-off from the floods.

Successful project in Cobb County
I, too, live in Cobb County and had many issues to get over with the county. The county had us shut down for seven weeks – long story, but it was not Hilltop’s fault at all. To the contrary, Hilltop stayed in touch with me the whole time, not leaving me in the dark.

When I first met Hilltop’s people at a recent homeshow, I was left with a great impression and I knew I’d want to contact them later for a quote for a pool. I interviewed three pool contractors from the homeshow and settled on Hilltop because of their long term family history in the business. Even though I’ve had many pools in my past, I’ve never had one built specifically for me. Hilltop was there to assure me every step of the way that everything was going as planned. Because of the size of my project, it took longer than normal but everything ended up EXACTLY as I envisioned it. Even with minor differences on a couple issues, Hilltop made sure that I was satisfied with EVERY concern, WITHOUT QUESTIONING ME or arguing. I would absolutely hire them again.

Dissatisfied customer
We contracted for a new pool in Novemeber 2008, the pool was finished in May 2009. We understand the delay for finishing was rain but we were unhappy with the final finish. At the beginning of the project we told Matt from Hilltop that we wanted the finish of the pool to be Dark Navy or Black. We decided to get a Pebbletec finish and asked for several pool owners with this finish for us to visit. We were given one name and Hilltop was going to let us know when we could visit. This never happened. We decided to go with Black Oxyn in Pebble Sceen and was led to believe from Matt and Pebbletec it would be a Black finish it was not. We withheld our final payment due to this. An acid wash was performed but did not help the color. We decided we could live with the color but were not happy and made the final payment to Hilltop anywya, which we now regret. Our pool was completed in early May and we have not had the final inspection done by Cobb County.

The electrical inspection was done 2 weeks ago and we immediately called Hilltop. We have called Hilltop over the past 2 weeks and the electrical work on our pool has yet to be done. Plus, we still need to have the final inspection done.

I would suggest that if you decide to go with Hilltop you make sure you do not take their word on the final color you will get from Pebbletec or the service they will give you. The only reason we received service after our pool was finished was because we withheld payment.

This absolutely stunning pool was completed in May, 2009, and had a past due progress payment until August 27th, 2009. The customer refused to make the $10,619 past due progress payment because they did not like the pebble interior that they chose and signed for. After accusations from the customer of mixing the wrong color combinations, Pebble Tec representatives from Arizona met with the customer and verified that the mix and the color were exactly what the customer selected and for which they signed.

Weather always has an impact on our completion time, but we also experienced significant delays and indecisiveness when it came to picking flagstone, stacked rock, concrete surface, and pebble color. We also had numerous documented unanswered phone calls, messages and emails which caused delays in scheduling and our subsequent productivity. This owner also had several family health issues which were unfortunate and which we replied to with sympathetic notes and calls.

When there are past due progress payments, we are legally unable to continue with a project. When the customer finally made the past due payment 3 months late, we called for the final electrical inspection. We were sent the inspection results approximately five (5) days before the customer’s negative comments were written. Unfortunately, we were in the middle of a “100 year” flood and could not correct the electrical problems. We stayed in contact (phone calls, messages, and emails) with the customer during the bad weather. The next business day after the rain stopped, our electrician went and corrected the issue. As it turns out, we had one (1) loose ground wire on the pump. There were other reasons for the failed inspection that had nothing to do with our company or the pool. The customer had low voltage lighting that was improperly installed. All inspections are now completed and have passed, and were never in doubt.

We have supporting documentation regarding communication logs, site visits, reports from our electrician, electric inspection reports, Pebble Tec reports from Arizona officials, thank you notes, etc. We are always sorry when we cannot fulfill our Mission Statement, but this complaint is unwarranted, unfounded, not supported by facts, and is an insult to our company and dedicated employees. We have been told by others and agree that this pool is an award winner and not deserving of a negative review.
