Our experience with Dr Roof 9/2009
Dr Roof replaced our entire asphalt shingle roof, after much hail storm damage, in August 2009. They did a wonderful job. Unlike some contractors we have engaged for other home improvements, the entire Dr. Roof crew was professional, experienced and timely. This included the entire company: estimator, work crew, customer service follow-up, and their communication with our insurance company.

The work crew arrived on time, worked fast, and cleaned up completely as specified in the contract. During the job Dr. Roof discovered our plywood decking was not installed properly by the original home builder. Dr. Roof explained the problem and additional charges, with pictures and samples, and they helped us get the information to our insurance carrier. The additional claim was accepted with out a hitch.

The job foreman contacted us in person or on the ‘phone every step of the way. There was a delay starting (rain) and another delay installing the last few feet of flashing (special order). We felt we were always well informed on work progress. We asked for a small quantity of shingles for future repairs and they delivered one package.

In short, Dr Roof came on time, worked as contracted, and finished by addressing all our concerns and details. We recommend them for any residential roof work. They were competitively priced, installed high quality shingles, and the customer service was excellent.

Great Service!!!
Dr. Roof replaced my roof and did an awesome job. Not only is their office staff courteous and professional, but their on-the-job staff as well. The best thing I liked was that I did not have to deal with ins. co. They took care of all that. Also, alot of my neighbors were also getting their roofs replaced but one thing I noticed in most was that the contractors were not replacing the old wood panels. Dr. Roof placed all my damaged panels and made sure I knew the total count I was having replaced. I loved working with them and have recommended their services to other neighbors.

they made it easy
I found I had a leak coming from the
exhaust fan in guest bathroom. Justin
came out, assessed the problem and showed
me a digital picture. All roofing co. should do this!! Thought he could not come back to fix for 2 weeks but showed up 2 days later due to a cancellation and
was done in an hr. Again, just made it
easy! Thank you.

Professional & Helpful
When our roof started leaking after the heavey rains, I dreaded calling a roofer for fear that they would push hard for us to buy an entire new roof on our extremely tight budget. However, when Justin came to inspect our damage, he was nothing of what I expected. He was easy to talk to and told us first how the damage could be repaired and didn't try to push us at all into buying a new roof. He was extremely professional yet very easy to talk to. He answered all of our questions and put us at ease. He made a bad situation a little more bearable.

Couldn't have gone better!
At the time we had a bit of a wait to get on the schedule, but it was worth the wait. Everyone was professional and courteous and our new roof has been leak free -- some of our neighbors (who didn't use Dr. Roof) cannot say the same! A+++

Excellent!
We had Dr. Roof repair and replace our gutters. We had estimates from two other companies, and Dr. Roof came in much lower than the others - mainly because they were not trying to sell us something we didn't need. They also made some small tweaks to the pitch and location of downspouts, which none of the other companies thought to look at. Matt was a real pro - polite and pleasant to work with, and really knew his stuff. We will definitely call them again for any roofing/gutter needs!

A Clear Case of Negligence!
I hired Dr Roof to create a ridge vent over the bonus room and replace the roof. After several years of correcting problems with Dr Roof's repair division (such as birds nesting, incorrect flashing, unsealed 'crickets', shingles not covering the edges of the roofline so water poured in behind the gutters rotting out the facia), I had to contract for complete roof replacement. During the new installation, it was discovered that Dr Roof had NOT cut out the vent over the bonus room in order for the air to escape. The result was mold and mildew in the room below and throughout the insulation in the rafters. I called David Friedlander to come and inspect it himself, but he showed no remorse or interest in the clear cut case of negligence on the part of one of his crews. I have pictures to prove my claim.

This roof was installed nearly 15 years ago, in 1994 with a 5year warranty, and does not guarantee that animals will be prevented from entering or nesting on or in the roof once it is installed. A roof installation is to keep water out, and animals in the roof are the domain of animal control company. As for the flashing, we reused the existing flashing as per contract, “chimney and siding flashings will be inspected and sealed”, not replaced. The standard of workmanship in the roofing industry in Atlanta in 1994 was to keep the flashing the house was originally built with, and only replace if defective. Per the contract, we did seal the flashings at the time of the roof install. Today we recommend replacing flashings when we install a new roof, no matter what condition existing flashings are in, which enables us to give a 10 year warranty. In 2003 we provided an estimate to replace the gutters, because the gutters needed to be replaced. The repairs to the rotten fascia was at a miter (corner), corresponding to a leak in the miter of the gutter. The cause of the rot was a leak through the miter of the gutter, which put the water on the fascia causing it to rot. We repaired the rotten fascia, but were not contracted to replace the gutters. The bonus room above the garage had vaulted ceilings, and the only place that had an attic was the small triangular space at the top section of the roof, which had a ridge vent and did have a gap for air to escape, as pictures show. The source of the problem was a design flaw creating inadequate ventilation of the entire roof over the bonus room, due to the airflow between the soffits and the ridge being blocked by a vaulted ceiling packed with insulation. Although the gap for the ridge vent could have been made wider, it was wide enough for the small triangular attic, but would have made no difference because the ridge vent, or any other type of ventilation installed, no matter how large, would not have vented this roof because there airflow pathway to the ridge vent, necessary for proper ventilation, was completely blocked. There were no baffles under the roof decking, something we could not have known about at the time of installation. We were not contracted to address baffles, and there was no problem with the decking at that time to indicate a problem. Contrary to the claim of no remorse or interest, David Friedlander went out to the home the same day the homeowner called, to deal with these issues, 9 years out of warranty. A competitor was replacing the roof. David still took the time to respond and research all the customers’ issues. His interest and concern extended to tracing the original salesman and personnel who had been gone from the company for at least 10 years, and brought them by the house to recall the history. Dr. Roof routinely is very attentive of jobs, even when they are long out of warranty. We have researched this case extensively and find no negligence on our part.
