Hip AND Knowledgable
I've been going to Outback for ten years for bike accessories and repair and they've never let me down. From serving a 40-year-old bike to fitting me for a helmet to giving my bike a super tune-up, they have always done a great job. And while the staff can be a little casual, they get their work done when they say they will and know their stuff. I wish car salesmen and mechanics were as awesome as the Outback guys and gals!

They really know bikes
I've had my bike worked on numerous times here -- all the way to complete re-builds. I've always been happy with the way it rides when I get it back.

Hipster Sneers
I am not what you would call adverse to hipsters, but this place was over the top. There are one or two people that were truly friendly and helpful when helping me choose accessories for my bike, but that's it. And I had been dealing with these guys for over a year (until I recently decided to go elsewhere).

I bought a bike for my girlfriend here and in the process of choosing a bike and accessories, they contradicted every single word I said despite the fact that what I was saying was non-technical, highly subjective advice based on years of familiarity with the person for whom I was purchasing the bike.

I have also taken a bike to get a clicking in the bottom bracket resolved. When offering my list of potential causes, they dismissed every one of them out of hand, even though it ended up being the problem that I had originally suggested. They apparently thrive on going out of their way to make sure that they're right and you're wrong.

In short, know-it-alls. It does not feel good giving these guys money.

Bikes ITP and OTP
Rarely do you find a business these days where the owner answers the phone, opens the door, responds to your emails and even rings the cash register. Outback Bikes has brought a taste of Lil 5 Points Outside the Perimeter- all the way to Dacula, GA with the owner, Pete armed with an arsenal of Bianchi and Specialized Bikes in his stable.
My wife and I visited his store a few weekends ago in search of a road bike for her. I was looking for Specialized Dealers in the Gwinnett area and was pleasantly surprised to find that Outback had set up shop not far from my house. I picked them because I was familiar with their lil 5 location.
I was happy with the experience because they provided great service and they are extremely knowledgeable about what they sell. If there wasn't something on the shelf, Pete offered to have it delivered from his other location downtown. He also responded to all of my inquisitive emails.
Based on the entire experience, from my first email to swiping my credit card- I found it easy to trust this Bike Dealer because he offered a great deal, great price, excellent technical information about the bike, it's fit, other products and the bike industry. You can tell he has a passion for bikes and wants to help others find theirs.
If you are shopping for a bike make sure to call or visit either of these locations first before making a purchase.

Their new location:
2463 Hamilton Mill Pkwy. Suite 230
Dacula GA 30019
770-945-BIKE
*We also visited the lil' 5 shop and were helped out by a very knowledgeable staffer named Amber. She was very helpful and knew her bike stuff. She was not pushy and did not make us feel like the dorky suburbanites we are. They also have a ton of bike inventory and accessories to choose from.

Professional Bike Service
I was having problems with my Enduro SL suspension, every bike shop i spoke to seemed to have very little knowledge (or interest) in my problem. I finally took it to Ross at Outback Bikes and he completely rebuilt the front fork and rear shock. He then gave me some basic tips on how to get the most out of the dials and adjustments, Another happy customer! My suspension rocks completely now! it's really made such a huge difference to my ride.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, much bigger stock levels and variety than most places, good chance they'll have exactly what you need, bike prices seem normal to me (i don't know where some of these other comments are coming from), A pretty awesome bike shop all in all.

Fun to check out the other cool shops in the neighborhood too while you're there.

Atlanta Staple
I was searching for a new bike and the staff here was very knowledgeable and helpful. They definitely spent there time with me as I "kicked the tires". I ended up buying elsewhere because I found a closeout model. These guys know what they are doing. Also a great resource for local events and races.

Okay.
Seems nice enough, fair amount of good bikes and equipment. Staff is okay, kinda forgetful, kinda slow, kinda knowledgable, kinda rude!. No BMX equip. Everything is extremely overpriced. If you have the time, drive out to a shop out of atlanta where everything isn't marked up 4-5 times the wholesale price.

I am a huge believer of supporting local businesses so considering I live across the street, I go no where else, until now. I am updating an older Ko more...
