Refreshing
I have been a client of this clinic on-and-off for the past couple of years. I liked the clinic under Dr. Merck, had a couple of negative experiences under the interim owner, and went back for the first time today under the new owner, Dr. Ray. One of the other reviewers said that the environment is very different than it used to be, and that's true: it's a much more calm environment than it was in it's crazy-busy days. Dr. Ray obviously has a tremendous affinity for cats, and spent a full hour with me and my two kitties. (Those of us who are "kitty people" can tell when others are really "kitty people" too!) He took the time to explain several things in-depth - and we were just there for routine annual visits! It was very refreshing. And I'll be returning soon with another member of my cat family. I just hope that as more former clients return to the practice, it doesn't become as insanely busy as it once was. I also hope that as Dr. Ray expands his staff, he adds others who share his passion for feline medicine.

THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO BRING YOUR CATS!
The Cat Clinic of Roswell has been owned by Dr Michael Ray only since March 2008, so any reviews prior to this do not apply to the current owner. From my initial phone call to my departure later that day, everyone I encountered at CCR was very friendly and kind. The lady at the front desk (who I'd also spoken to on the phone); the tech, Jason, who took us to an exam room and got the initial visit information, weight (built into the table), temperature (ear, not bottom), etc; the lady who let me know when Lucy was done with her labs and ready for checkout; and of course, Dr Ray. Both Jason and Dr Ray were very gentle and kind with Lucy (I didn't see anyone else handling her, but I'm sure they were, too). She didn’t want to be there or to be handled (she is 15 and is now suffering from arthritis – why we were there), but they both spoke to her as soothingly and sweetly as I do. The visit with Dr Ray was not rushed at all. After the exam, he sat down with me and answered all my questions about her behavior – it was a bit like a visit with a friend. You can tell he really loves cats. I will be back again and again with Lucy and my other two cats (they won’t be too happy about that, but that’s no fault of Dr Ray or his staff). : }

used to be a good place
I was a loyale customer with three cats for a long time. When the original owner left there has not been a good transition at all. The new staff is nothing like the people that were there. The set-up and attitutude of the staff is poor compared to the old staff. They used to give discounts if you took in homelss cats, they at least acted like they cared. I have gotten nothing but the run around, several times when asking for prices. One of the staff members left me a message telling me the price then when I called to make the appt. would not honor it. ON TOP OF IT ALL THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME A FEE IN ORDER FOR ME TO GET MY RECORDS TO TAKE MY CAT TO ANOTHER VET! WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBE THE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY GIVE. I WOULD NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE TAKING MY PETS THERE. I AM GOING TO MAKE A COMPLAINT TO THE BBB AND WHATEVER VET. ASSOCIATION I CAN.This really all disturbs me since I am one of those people who really tries to stay loyal and give my business to the community.

We offer a 20% discount to all shelters and rescue groups and commonly work with Good Mews, Furkids and the Cobb and Cherokee Co. Animal Shelters. We will continue to help out these groups with significant discounts and a caring, professional hospital environment. We are always able to quote prices of services and inventory quickly. Discounts have to be approved on a case by case basis. Discounts are rare because our prices are competitive and reflect the cost of doing business. I almost did not respond to this review but felt the need to point out that the only poor customer service was not giving a discount. As far as being like Dr. Merck's clinic, that is not our goal. We are a very high-quality, low-volume hospital that services the clients and cats that we care for extraordinarily well. We have no desire to behave like the old staff. We make plenty of people happy by behaving like ourselves. We also have no desire to practice medicine like the previous regimine. Our hospital has taken on a more progressive direction medically. Our only goal is to practice top quality feline medicine. Additionally, the medical records are solely our property legally speaking. We offer a service of record copies to those clients interested. Most medical offices charge for record copies because the service cost us money to provide. I look forward to this client contacting the better business bureau and any other regulation groups to complain about no discounts. Maybe then, the client will better understand the situation. Cat Clinic of Roswell is Terriffic!
The Cat Clinic of Roswell has NEVER been better. The new doctor, Michael Ray and his staff provide first class, personal attention for both your cat and yourself! My cat recently was diagnosed with an agressive tumor, and we were upset needless to say. The doctor, his tech Jason and all the staff involved were wonderful. Pickles is on the mend for now, and we are all so relieved. Don't believe everything you read on a blog!

DO NOT GO TO CAT CLINIC
I have been going to Cat Clinic for 5+ years and seen it deteriorate first hand, when Dr. Pruett finally left. ALL the techs and vets are new, because none of the old techs liked the new vet/staff (I’ve been told so personally BY the techs themselves.) But this was the final straw: My cat was suddenly ill and I scheduled an appointment with the Cat Clinic immediately. Upon arriving, the technician was rude. When seen by the vet, I was told my cat had an abdominal blockage and he was taken away to be stabilized + have surgery. Later that day, they called to tell me they were mistaken and had no idea what was causing the problem. By 4pm, they still had no diagnosis and suggested I take him to an emergency vet for after hours care. When I picked him up, he was almost unconscious, MUCH worse than when I left him. The emergency vet saw him and told us that all the blood work, measured levels and other info that the Cat Clinic had taken was incorrect and needed to be re-done. The GA Vet specialists quickly were able to diagnose his problem as being a blocked bladder due from a Urinary tract infection and had burst at some point earlier in the day (which happened in the Cat Clinic’s care) Unfortunately by this time, my cat had passed away. Both the Vet specialists and another vet who I consulted with told me that a blocked bladder could have been diagnosed quickly by a competent vet and my cat should have been able to be saved by prompt surgery. ~Lindze Merritt

First of all, I was very sorry to hear about your cat's condition, your experience at the clinic, and particularly the resulting death of your friend. I wanted to express my condolences but also separate this incident from the time that I have owned the clinic. I took over operations in March 2008 and this event did occur before that time. I am very sorry for your loss. As an owner of eight cats I can sincerely say that I do appreciate your loss, because of my love for my cats. I simply wanted to make the time frame of this incident more clear. We try to provide great service to every cat and their person/people. We truely care and do provide top quality feline medicine. If you were to visit our clinic again, I think favorable differences could be appreciated immediately. Michael S. Ray, DVM

New Owner
Don't worry about all of the negative reviews. The Cat Clinic of Roswell has a brand new owner, Dr. Michael Ray. He is a top notch vet and has a really terrific touch with the cats....a true cat lover. Come back and give the new CCR a chance. With Dr. Ray you won't regret it. The bad reviews are history!!

Not what it used to be
A few days ago, we called in to get our cat’s Clindamycin refilled. The receptionist stated that the 75 mg tablets we normally got were out of stock, but they would check to see if they had 25 mg tablets to give to us instead. The next day we came to get our medicine. They had neglected to tell us over the phone that the same dosage of the 25 mg pills would cost roughly THREE TIMES the amount for 75 mg pills (~$90 vs ~$30). Again, we paid it because the cat needed the medicine. After getting home, we realized that they had overcharged us for a higher dosage than we got. My wife called back, and whoever she talked to ARGUED with her. The incorrect data is clearly on the invoice, but the woman just kept repeating that we "got more pills". She was sarcastic and unprofessional. I called back later in the day and finally got through to them that, on top of ripping us off, they had made a mistake on the invoice. And besides that, wasn’t it their fault to begin with for being out of stock? This place used to be so much better, but the old staff is long gone. This is not our first bad experience with the new staff. In general, the cat clinic is very unfriendly, overpriced, and inattentive. A business can't exist on past reputation alone. Time for a new vet.

We have tried to contact this client to discuss this situation and have not been able to reach them directly. As a result, I wanted to reply here. The cost difference between the two prescriptions was actually only $4.65. This client has a credit on their account for that amount. We usually do not mail a check to the client or vendor unless the credit reaches $100 or more. We would be more than happy to make an exception in this case. We want every one to be happy with our service. As far as the rudeness on the phone, I can only sincerely apoligize. I do see rudeness from my staff to the client as absolutely unacceptable. This behavior is not common, as we often receive feedback on how friendly our staff behaves. I only felt the need to comment because of the inaccurate financial information. If the receptionist made an error in charging you out, we can rectify that easily with the receipt. Our computers show a difference of less that $5 and that credit does remain on their account. This incident occurred less than one week after I bought the practice so I also wanted to say that we are generally better with our stock of prescriptions nowadays. Michael S. Ray, DVM

Great Visit
I went to the cat clinic yesterday for the 1st time. My cat had an emergency the night before and I had to get her to a vet quick! I called the cat clinic at 8 in the morning. They didnt have any appts open for the am so they offered to keep her there during the day and make sure that she was okay until she could see a dr. I brought her in at 8:30 and the girls at reception were both really polite. They went out of their way to make sure that they had very detailed information from me on my cats problem. I left feeling very comfortable with my cat staying there. I have never left her anywhere before! I came back to pick her up at 4:30 and meet with Dr Michael Ray who was awesome! He really cared about my cat. We spent 30 minutes talking about my cats problems, giving her the medicine, nutrician, and how to care for her as she gets older. I felt he went so far above & beyond any other vet I had ever visited. I have to take my kitty back in a week for a second checkup and I know she will be in good hands. When I got back to work today everyone wanted to know how my kitty was. I told them all about my visit with the cat clinic and it looks like they will be getting 2 new customers from my work. I logged on to read the reviews after my visit and was suprised to read all the negatives. I felt the need to write a review even though I havent done so before because everyone seems to very wrong about this place! The cost was about average.
