Highly recommend
David has done quite a lot of work for me on two different cars, one a Ford and one a Toyota. David is honest, dependable and resonable. I highly recommend David to all my friends and neighbors.

New to Town
It is really hard to find a mechanic you can trust.. I was referred to Nelms by another close by mechanic that was too busy to help me today. Well I am so glad that I went there, the people were super nice, and seemed very honest. If you are new to town and looking for a mechanic.. try this business first. I am glad I did.

3rd mechanic appears to be the charm...
This is my third Kudzu review on auto mechanics. The first mechanic I had to make appointments when it was always convenient for him - not me. The second one had someone to answer the phone, but was discourteous when it came to calling me back upon leaving a message. David is accessible or DOES call back. He's been my mechanic for about a year now. The work is very good and the price seems fair. This one I highly recommend! He is the total package.

great guys
I need to get a tune up on my vehicle and ran into ths shop. The machanics were patient , friendly and quickly serviced my car.

Honest and Correct
I spoke to David over the phone. Explained to him that I was new to the area and asked him about the problem I was having with my 97 Dodge Dakota. It seemed like it was missing. He checked all the codes for me and did an extensive number of test. Found nothing wrong but he did tell me about the intake gaskets. Took my truck back later to have the a/c charged and serpentine belt replaced, and the throttle body cleaning done. All the technicians and himself are very knowledgeable and accurate about their work. I will be taking my truck back to him from now own.

Knowledge and honesty providing top notch service.
I gave David the task of adding some horsepower to an 89' Trans Am which most local shops didn't even want to work on. With my budget and ideas presented, David researched the best combination of upgraded parts for optimal performance. I knew exactly what to expect for the cost and when I got my car back, she was tuned correctly and had noticable horespower gain. Dave is straight forward guy who wont sell you something you don't need however, he doesn't take short-cuts either. In an industry that sometimes preys on the less knowledgeable, Nelms Automotive can be trusted to provide an honest service.

Friendly helpful guide
David used his knowledge of dealers and past Volvo experiences with my vehicles. I had initially asked him to changed oil on my Volvo 240 just to check him out. He was friendly and show me what else was wrong with the vehicle. It had vibration problems and he showed me the wheel bearing and tie rod ends needed replacement. I had wanted to fix it but I sold the car after the gas prices gotten too expensive to keep the car. I also had a new Kia that he was rotating & balancing tires on & was able to point out the rotors was worn (caused vibration when I brake at high speeds that I began to notice) but suggested that they might still be under warranty. He also found slight oil leak at the pan & suggested the dealer service people should be able to remedy it. He suggested that I get it done at the dealer since it should all be under warranty. I took his advice and got it done under the warranty. He saved me money and grief later on down the road. I felt he was honest and helpful. I would recommend him based on my experiences.

bad experience
I took my Mini-Van to get a break job. They seemed knowledgeble about what needed to be done so I trusted their recommendation: Front Brakes, Front Rotors and Left/Right Calipers. It cost me $450. No problem rightWrong! After 6 months and 10K of HWY Driving they start to squeal! Squeal after 6 months? Wait a minuteso I go to Firestone to find out what's wrong. They tell be I need new rotors and new pads. I can see pads, but new rotors? So I call Nelms to explain the problem to them. I was told the following, "I have seen brakes on a cab go in a month!, I don't know if you are a heavy breaker!," What?!? He compared me to a cab! They drive all day everyday! Now I have to spend another $450 to get new rotors and pads! Basically, they got my money and they could care less because the problem occurred outside of their 90 day guarantee! If at all possible, take your auto to a company that has a lifetime guarantee!

Ew.. it was ok
I did not mind their service but it was just average. Nothing special about it. I prefered the other shop that I am using now. Not bad, just not a WOW factor.
