Don't Rely on Articles, See for Yourself
I have learned that most people posting to forums such as this have only negative things to say. I can only speak for myself, and my experience with Goddard Trickum has been very positive. My son has attended both pre-school and pre-K, and his teachers have been wonderful. The administration has met our needs and answered all questions. My spouse and I are involved in the PTO program, and I advise other parents to participate as well. If you don't like the way things are run, then get involved and be a part of the solution.

Not Happy
Upon touring the school I was impressed. I enrolled my daughter and thought I had made the best choice for her. I quickly pick up on some red flags. The constant change of teachers and not being able to see the same face each evening was a concern. I then notice that the curriculum and learning that was promised to me was not being implemented everyday. They also promised me a certified teacher I then learned the teacher teaching my daughter had no more the a High School education. She was very loving and caring to my daughter when she was there but I was promised and paying for something more. We have since move to a very close daycare that offer internet cameras, a wonderful curriculum, and the same teachers. If you are thinking about Goddard visit more then once and question everything.

Safety Disaster!
At first I was attracted by the appearance of the school and decided to make a visit. However, as the staff was giving a tour, I was upset by several facts: (1) Someone probably mobbed the floor and left a splash of water but didn't have any sign of wet floor indicated. (2) The storage closet where cleaning supplies were stored was NOT locked. (3) Teachers were not paying close attention when children were using scissors. (4) 2 sleeping babies were having untucked blankets. Although the staff seemed to be polite and friendly, it's not worth putting my child into the care of such school lacking safety standards. I just checked out from the Bright from the Start website and found that they had a substantiated complaint on 05/12/2008. No way I wound recommend this school to any parent.

Worst in town!
I dislike almost everything about this school from management to staff. They said and told you one thing but acted the other. They didn't admit their mistakes or think of effective measures to correct their existing problems. Even though injuries happened repeatedly, they still disregarded our concerns and pretended they had done what was required until complaints were substantiated by the Bright From the Start, GA Department of Early Care and Learning. Now I feel much better that my child is in another school.

Distrusful!
I could not trust to put my child in this poor daycare center. 4 of 5 cribs were observed to have heavy coverings in them with an infant sleeping in it. Obviously, the staff had little knowledge in this area to know that some items are prohibitive to put into the cribs. In addition, the center had no daily schedule of routines and activities to provide for the toddler age group. It looked like the center was in a mess in meeting the quality and service standards.

Loving and caring daycare
I have two sons who attend the Goddard School. My oldest has been there for almost 5 years. The staff is loving, caring, attentive, and professional. All schools have occasional problems, problem kids, and problem parents. Whether my kids have been the instigators or recipients, Goddard has been quick to address my concerns, fair, impartial, and professional. I can go to work each day...knowing that my children are in a safe, nurturing environment...thanks to the caring teachers at Goddard. Please do not let the rantings of one set of unbalanced and vindictive parents diminish the public view of such a great school. Ask the long-term parents who love the school....we chose this school because we love our kids and so do these teachers!

Very Disappointed2
I am the wife of the reviewer who just posted. I would like to add the following. The problems at this school go beyond failure to deal with violent kids or protect the kids they victimize. Over the past two years there has been incredibly high staff and teacher turnover at the school, to the point where it was difficult to explain to our then three-year-old child why his teachers kept disappearing (4 teachers leaving in the span of a year; 3 school directors in that same time span). Incident reports, which record injuries, were not filled out and given to parents in a timely manner. This violates state licensing rules. In one case, a teacher failing to give us an injury report about our child hitting his teeth the same day put our son's health at immediate risk (according to the dentist). On a less serious note, but still indicative of the owners' attitude toward management.... For the past two years the big kids playground has had as its only basketball hoop one that is too high for any child to reach, and that is not designed for children 3-6. We brought this to the attention of the owners, even showed them where we bought our age-appropriate hoop online (for less than $100!). But nothing was done. It's a minor thing, but it is a little sad to hear your 4-year-old say that they don't want to play basketball because they can't get the ball in the hoop. This is consistent with the owners' apathetic approach to management overall.

New Reviewer - Very Disappointed
Not recommended. When I first read the multiple posts by the reviewer who complained about safety issues, I dismissed them. It is a shame that one reviewer has posted so many negative reviews. It may make prospective parents dismiss every negative review here as part of a smear campaign. This is not the case. There are serious, fundamental problems at this school. The review, below, from the parent that talks about how management failed to deal with a child that was biting other kids reflects an ongoing pattern of poor management, not an isolated incident. The staff is not at all adept at dealing with problem kids, to the detriment of the other kids at the school. The owners seem to be more focused on managing complaints than solving problems. If the parents here who wrote glowing reviews had run into serious problems with the behavior of other children at the school, if they had had to deal with owners' incompetence, apathy, and insincerity, they might have a different view of the school. Our child was at this school for two years. The school's unwillingness to manage or remove a consistently violent child led to our child receiving a serious injury and permanent scar, and to their being hurt and harassed by the same child for three months following that (to date). As a result, we have decided to take our two children out of the school. In the hope that other parents will not have to experience what we did, we have filed a complaint with Bright from the Start. 5/7/08

Most expensive in the area, below par performance
I won't say this school is the worst in the area, as the Kids R Kids are pretty bad, but Goddard is definitely a bag full of problems. I'm not going into the details because I don't want to give away my anonymity, but I do want to offer my advise: for the money, you could darn near start your own school; why would you settle for such low performance? Pros: Place is kept clean, food is of good quality, good range of activities for kids. Cons: Some teachers borderline dysfunctional, instructions (and sometimes basic responsibilities) are not adhered to, teachers (however imcompetent they may be) are not treated fairly Most of the incompetence trickles down from the top. The owner nor administrator really have no management skills whatsoever. Nothing personal, they seem nice enough, but they have failed to realize this business demands certain talents and diligence they simply do not have. It seems as though perhaps they happened into financial good fortune and decided to spend it on a daycare franchise. Not the best combination of events, but a franchise is just that - an opportunity for anyone who can afford it, not necessarilly those that are good at it. Not the worst school and honestly you won't find many schools that will give you the sense of security this one will. It's mainly the price/performance ratio that really blows them to pieces. Sortof like taking a Mercedes emblem and sticking it on the hood of a Hyundia.

Wow - Great Great Place for Kids
We really love Goddard!!! I do not understand how there could be so many negative reviews! This is a great school. Our childred love Goddard. They really like their teacher and the entire staff is very friendly and they take a personal interest in our childrens development. Our daughter is potty trained thanks to Ms Mariah!!! Yeah!!! Our son, who is normally very shy has truly come out of his shell and looks forward to going to shcool every day. I know many of the parents who have children at Goddard and they all have nothing but nice things to say about this place. In fact, several families in our s/d have kids at Goddard.
