July 2010, Mr. Matthews arrived promptly for his appt with my 70-year old father who resides in Stone Mountain, GA. Mr. Matthews presented my father with a written estimate of $600 to remove and haul away a small dead tree in the back of his home. Unfortunately, my father experienced some health problems after receiving the estimate and could not have the tree removed immediately. Well, as fate would have it, in October 2011 the tree snapped and the top half came crashing down to the ground, fell forward and rested on my father’s garage causing onlly minor damage. Naturally he called Mr. Matthews. While he was not expecting Mr. Matthews to honor a 90-day old $600 estimate, he was not expecting a $2,500.00 bill either!!!! The Invoice read as follows: $1400 to remove tree off the house (huh?), $500 to haul off debris (what?) and $350 for a 20x30 blue tarp (found on Home Depot website for $64.98..??)….Grand Total: $2,250. OMG! Mr. Matthews seriously! What happened????

I was looking for a tree company to chop down a huge dead tree that was next to a power line at my rental property. One of the companies I contacted via email was Matthews Tree Service. They contacted me right away with a verbal estimate and followed up with a written one. Their estimate was cheaper than 2 other companies. Before I could turn around, the tree was down and cleaned up from my yard. I ended up using them to chop down a smaller tree in the back yard. They cleaned up the debris quickly as well. This company was very professional and efficient and I would use them again.

I contacted Matthews to get some tree work done and decided to use them. I was told 11 business days lead time and would be contacted 1-2 days in advance. Something came up financially and I went to cancel only to find out when I got to work and called they told me they did the job that morning. The never called and did the job in 5 business days with no notice. Not very good at following their schedule or notifying the customer.

I recently used Matthew's for a small job (removal of small tree that was encroaching on neighbours deck). Matthew and Melinda were professional, punctual, courteous and did a very nice job. I would use them again.

We have been customers for almost 20 years and would not consider using another company. Another tree was removed this week and we are completely satisfied with the outcome as well as the cleanup. This is a top quality and very professional tree service. Also highly recommended for cat rescue!
