Iron Horse Remodeling

We selected Wes to renovate our small family home because his quote was on the lower end of the three that we received and because he seemed honest. However, we learned quickly that his prices seemed to increase with every little thing we added to the repair/renovation list. He repeatedly promised to have work completed by a certain date, but never delivered each time. We are out of state homeowners, and on one occasion, we flew into GA expecting to see the completed work, but instead were met with an incomplete project. On the same visit, we got into an argument with him because he didn't do a few things that we had paid him to do. He swore that he never agreed to do them until we showed him the signed proposal which included this work. On the day that new carpet was supposed to be installed, his guys were a no-show causing a great deal of inconvenience. When he finally completed the renovations, everything looked relatively good except that he never cleaned up the dirt left everywhere, even though he told us initially that he brings in people to clean up after his work. Recently, I made the mistake of contacting him to provide a quote for a few minor repairs. I had flown in from out of state and was in town for only 4 days. He promised that he would stop by, but he was a no-show and didn’t even bother to return my phone calls- this seems to be a recurring theme, as other reviewers here have experienced the same thing. The best word to describe him is simply "unreliable."

We contracted with Iron Horse to repair our master shower tile floor. This is perhaps the hardest of tile applications as the damaged area was around the drain; thus requiring sloping the floor and curve cutting around the drain. I had attempted to repair it myself with less than stellar results.
After emailing Iron Horse Wes immediately responded and maintained prompt communication from initial estimation through job completion and satisfaction follow-up. The team performed their tasks in a professional manner and the finished product exceeded our expectations. With reasonable costs and quality performance, we recommend Iron Horse and will utilize them in the future.

Wes cam through, listened closely to exactly what we wanted done, gave us some good advice, and provided a fair estimate. They installed custom interior french doors for us, along with replacing some other doors. His workers were highly skilled and very respectful. We couldn't be happier with the results. Iron Horse is great all around. We plan on working with them again in the future.

Wes and his team are top notch! He remodeled our 1960's kitchen/family room/breakfast room and our master bathroom in 2011. He gave a clear bid, which made change orders straightforward. He was always honest and fair about the cost of work and materials. The tile sub mistakenly told me to purchase much more tile than was needed, and Wes did not hesitate to accept responsibility and absorbed the cost. 

I warned Wes in the beginning that I was very type-A. He was always patient with me and left us with a perfect remodel. Bill, Steve and Pedro were great to have on site everyday. I cannot say enough about the quality of their work. They matched our existing hardwood floors and trim work perfectly.

I have recommended them to friends, and will use them for all of my future projects. I never thought that I would have fun went we started this remodel, but I did! You will not find a better contractor!

I had small projects that required roof repair and sheetrock replacement. Wes came out gave me an estimate and commenced the work. In the beginning everything went well; the guys were punctual, efficient, and the quality of the work seemed to be ok. However, the sheetrock guy left town and Wes had no replacement, and my problems began. I was told that the guy had an emergency that required him to leave town.


The roofer repaired the roof from a fallen tree, but he could not repair another leak, and after calls and emails, Wes, eventually. did not follow through on this issue either. He never returned, but sent someone else out to complete the drywall job before the roof was repaired. Consequently, there are water stains on the drywall.


Wes put me on the back burner and said that he would follow-up, but he stopped responding to emails. One day he said he needed some of the payment and I mistakenly paid him, and that was the end of the project for him. My house is unfinished, walls, unpainted, roof still leaking, and baseboards broken. Be careful if you use him and by all means do not pay anything up front.
