At 39 I found myself pregnant (happily) and Dr. Houston took care of me and my baby girl superbly. 7 years later again I find myself surprisingly pregnant again (happily again.) She took every... precaution, every test. Being 46 and a high risk pregnancy made sure she saw me as often as possible. Referred me to some extra eyes at the Perinatal Specialists across the way also. Delivered a beautiful baby boy. Thank you. The office is busy. Communication sometimes not so great. SHE is the best doctor ever tho. Trust her with my life=my babies.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
I am in medicine and understand that doctors can get behind. When my wife sat over 2 hours in the waiting room and was in tears, she got no apology from Dr. Houston. I called her later in the day to... give her a chance to address the situation. Her response, "It appears you and your wife are not happy about our practice- maybe she should find another practice". Talk about a young, arrogant, self-centered individual without any compassion. That is Dr. Houston. Stay away!VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

I started out with Dr Soufi as she came so highly recommended, and I understand why! She is amazingly smart! But when I was given the rotation to meet the other doctors in the practice I felt it CLICKED with Dr Houston. She delivered my second child withOUT any drugs! not by choice, but because the baby came too quickly! She was amazing and kept me calm! my 3rd child was delivered by Dr Sung because Dr Houston was out on maternity leave! But wonderful experience (with an epidural!) My 4th baby was delivered by Dr Houston again, with no drugs. Dr Houston is THE OB for me! I think she is professional, gives you options, helps you weigh your decisions and LISTENS to what's important to YOU! that's a BIG thing. She doesn't just recommend what she would do herself, but she asks questions and tries to find out what's important to you and back you up 100%! My 4 baby's name is Dr Houston's middle name! coincidence??? I think not! If you or anyone you know needs the best OB care, call Dr Houston.

Unfortunate experience with Dr. Houston who did an on-call check up after my wife's C section delivery. Tried waking my drugged wife by shaking her hard and then tells my wife she can't be in much pain if she was sleeping that hard. What doctor in their right mind SHAKES patients awake and then diagnoses pain on level of shaking to wake them up. These pain medications after all are pain medications one and two make you drowsy. Quite insensitive. Then she walks out maybe two minutes later to talk to the nurse saying she will be back and disappears. No discussion about pain control, steps forward in the healing process or to getting well..nothing. An hour later the nurse tells my wife Dr. Houston has signed for her to be discharged and that Dr. Houston has left. Quite unprofessional. Very disappointing and gets a zero rating.

Dr. Houston was my ob for my first child. Long waits without apology were not uncommon. She is very direct and does not offer much in the way of background information, options for treatment, etc. Was not interested in hearing about my wishes for birth plan,as it seemed contrary to her plan. Nurse difficult to get in touch with & comfortable leaving diagnosis & treatment info on voicemail w/o further discussion. Okay if you don't expect any kind of human connection with your care.

After reading all these great comments, I thought to give a try with Dr. Houston. Unfortunately, her scheduler is too busy to call me back and give me an appointment. At my third call, I got Teri (I think she said it was her name and the scheduler of the doctor) told me she would call me before her lunch but I'm still waiting (6 days). Dr. Houston could be wonderful, but the staff speaks badly about her. I don't think is worth it.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Houston. I had my first child in Los Angeles with a doctor I loved. When we moved to Atlanta I got pregnant with my second child. I was with a different practice group where I was very unhappy (always waited over 2 hours, was scheduled with a nurse practitioner for appointments and met the delivery doctor at the delivery). I got pregnant again and miscarried with sole practitioner who I was never comfortable with. On my last pregnancy, I asked a specialist who his wife used and he told me about Dr. Houston. She was/is a blessing in my life. I had a very difficult pregnancy. She ALWAYS took as much time as needed with me. My waits were not long. She listened and explained everything, every time. She is a mother of 3 kids herself and gets it. There are 3 doctors who rotate, but you meet each of them long before your due date, and they are all great! Also, I believe that they each try to deliver their own patients. Dr. Houston ultimately delivered my daughter and the delivery was great! I can't imagine going to any other doctor.

I switched to Women's Health Associates from another large practice in Atlanta due to poor care. I heard about WHA through a friend, who said it was an awesome OBGYN office. My first OB appointment with Dr. Houston was on 11/9/10, I arrived at the office and was greeted with warm smiles! My appointment was for 10:00, around 10:30 her nurse came out to speak with the three of us waiting on her. She informed us that Dr. Houston was with a patient that was having issues so she was nearly and hour and a half behind, and offered to let us reschedule. I figured since I was already there I would just stick it out. Around 11:15 the nurse came back and got me and did my blood work, introduced herself, went over everything, and was generally awesome she even offered me a snack! Around 11:45 Dr. Houston made her way to see me. Almost two hours after my original appointment time, but she was worth the wait. As a nervous OB patient(2 miscarriages) her kindness and general concern for me was amazing. She apologized for the long wait, and then went about the exam. We talked about my history, questions I had etc. I don't know how to express what an awesome doctor she is. She is warm, caring and truly a rare find these days, she spent about 45 minutes with me, and I left feeling like I had finally found an OB that I feel comfortable handling my pregnancy. I would recommend her to any of my friends or family.

Dr. Houston is extremely knowledgeable and personable. You often have to wait to see her (maybe 30-45 minutes on average). The primary reason (beyond emergency deliveries) is that Dr. Houston always spends as much time with you as you need, more so than any other doctor we have experienced. She pays close attention to your questions and feelings. She is also very friendly, kind, and funny. Dr. Houston has three kids of her own, and combines her training and personal experience to provide excellent medical care. One issue, however, for those undergoing a C-section under Blue Cross/Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance. The practice may use a surgical assistant who is NOT covered by BCBS. So, they bill you separately ($850). You sign a form at some point acknowledging this may happen, but no one actually tells you if/when it happens and what the cost will be.

I feel very comfortable with Dr. Michelle Houston. She is very warm, considerate, direct, and highly knowledgeable about current research. She has a holistic approach. She inquires about every aspect of health, family history, previous issues, and bodily functions. The office ALWAYS runs late and behind schedule. Three of the administrative employees could benefit from training in appropriate social skills as they can be unaccommodating and difficult. Even when I have a scheduled appointment, I usually have to wait 50-75 minutes. I believe that the quality of care and knowledge of Dr. Michelle Houston is worth the wait.

Dr. Houston was recommended highly to me by a colleague of hers outside her practice. She spent an hour on the phone with me before I ever stepped foot in her office. She's practical, straight-forward, and she works with you to reduce and manage risks. She has a passion for bringing life into this world, and she truly cares about her patients. At her practice, you'll see the same doctor throughout your pregnancy to build a relationship - other practices rotate doctors from the beginning. You'll also see the other doctors in the practice so you meet a familiar face at delivery no matter what. She always fits me in when I'm having an issue, and she takes the time to consider your emotions as well as your diagnosis. This is SO RARE today, and I value it highly. Trying to start a family can be an emotional rollercoaster...this group of doctors understands what you're going through. Dr. Soufi did my 1st born's emergency c-section-we were very pleased. I'm told my scar is amazingly small/neat-she also offered to remove a large mole on my abdomen while I was there-a thoughtful extra. Dr. Houston delivered my 2nd, also a wonderful experience. She sat with me when my hormones crashed while I cried & supported me as a friend would. She's currently helping me thru a miscarriage. Her medical & emotional support have been wonderful. If you have to wait to see her, she's likely taking very good care of another patient-when it's your turn, you'll appreciate this!!

Women’s Health Associates is a VERY large practice. Waits were sometimes several hours and then Dr. Houston would only spend a few minutes with you before rushing out. There are three OBs that rotate call, so there is only a 33% that she will deliver your baby unless you schedule a “convenience” induction. She did not like it when I asked questions about my care. It is every woman’s responsibility to educate themselves, ask questions and participate in their own care and she was very dismissive of that (told me to "stop looking up things on the internet"). I ended up with a cesarean birth after she failed to diagnose breech positioning. When I returned for my second pregnancy she had not looked at my chart to review my history at all. The practice does not offer VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), which is not evidence-based as ACOG says that VBAC is a "safe and reasonable option for most women with a prior cesarean". Dr. Houston is nice and friendly, but that is only a small part of what I needed from my OB. I chose to switch to another doctor.

Dr. Houston helped me through a high risk pregnancy. She really kept an eye on me and we had a successful delivery. She is very thorough for routine check ups as well. She is nice and personable. She cares about the patient and the family. I would highly recommend!

I waited three months to get an appointment for which I was asked to provide a credit card in case I was late or didn't show...The office then called me and canceled because the doctor was unavailable - and they couldn't fit me in for another month. When that appointment came they asked me to be early to fill out paperwork - which they also sent to my home and asked that I do it in advance. I showed up 15 minutes early, was made to wait 1 hour - then brought in undressed and waited another 20+ minutes and then the doctor could not see me due to a delivering mother...again they could not reschedule for a month. On visit #3 after waiting 45+ minutes when I had the audacity to complain, the doctor was insulted and refused to do the exam. Grow up. Provide a service. I mean really.

I found Dr. Houston when I was pregnant with my second child. We had changed insurance and the doctor who delivered my 1st was no longer on our plan. I loved my first OB so I hated to change but ended up glad I did as Dr. Houston was even better. I had a difficult pregnancy with my first and she was very thorough and cautious with keeping an eye out for problems. She cared about my emotional needs as much as my medical needs. When I found myself pregnant a 3rd time but ended up miscarrying, she was VERY thoughtful and caring. Should we have another baby I will not hesitate to drive to Atlanta from Kennesaw to see her.
