I RECOMMEND SHUMATE! HERE'S WHY:, 11/19/2014

I had the original (well over 20 yrs.old)low quality air conditioning & furnace units for my big two story house. Every summer for the past 5 yrs. the a.c., would conk out, I'd call Shumate and... they'd get it going again. Finally the units gave up the ghost. I got quotes from seven different companies including Shumate. Comparing apples to apples, details to details, Shumate beat them all hands down for high level top-rated units with 14-16 seer, variable speed furnace, electronic programmable thermostats, and ductwork replacement. Shumate had always given me great service, and I was glad they won the job. They showed up promptly, had a supervisor on-site the whole time, installed new Lennox XC14 units for upstairs and downstairs, new furnaces, new ductwork, hauled away my old units and totally cleaned up the area inside and out. I couldn't be happier! The house is always just the perfect temperature, it's virtually silent in its operation,and we have lower utility bills. The best part is Shumate's people. Friendly, courteous and professional. You couldn't ask for better. If you have HVAC issues, let Shumate give you a free quote and expert recommendations. If you do choose Shumate, you'll be very glad you did! I strongly recommend Shumate, and now you know why!

$250 for leak detection, 8/06/2014

$79 for a trip charge is fine. 15 minutes to sniff out a coolant leak at $250 is absurd. Indeed, I requested the leak detection, but was not told up front the cost. Technician did not continue search... after finding leak in furnace, so did not search for leaks in crawl space. Paying essentially $1000/hour to have someone wave a sensor about makes me feel foolish. I have used Shumate a number of times, including whole system replacement. In general, they are reliable and costs are fair and predictable. Not this time.

Shumate responds quickly with GREAT service

I came home to a cold house this week I did not have a clue which HVAC company to call. After a web search I called Shumate and hoped the reviews I read were true. Shumate's response was unbeliveable They were at my home in less than an hour and less than an hour later I had heat. My technician, Jimmy Gercman, was very knowledgeable and professional. I was treated like a long term loyal customer on this first call.I now have a HVAC company Bobbie Daher

Exceptional Service

Moving from Illinois and in need of a good tune up service for my heat pump system I heard the radio ad of Shumate and decided to give them a call. I am extremely glad I did. The tech John was very through in his examination and explanation of the needs of my system. In my experience with other HVAC companies,i can say Shumate Mechanical was exceptional. Shumate came out to replace a blower fan in my Trane furnace located in my attic. Mysteriously the tech told me after replacing the unit that the circuit board was also faulty and needed replacement, another $619. I am always suspicious when these extras pop up, the circuit board was modified/bypassed by the tech. I shopped around and found I paid a very big premium to use them both on the blower fan and the quotation for the circuit board. We didnt know we had a bigger problem until the ceiling in my sons bedroom collapsed as the unit had been leaking water outside he collector pan. now we have the cost of repairing the furnace and the ceiling drywall, Shumate came out, denied any responsibility and basically told us it was our problem. Seriously recommend you don't use them, shop around, you will get better service and pricing and hopefully some integrity.

Less than impressive

Extremely high priced, poor customer relations, tech blames customer service, CS blames tech, tech doesn't work weekends. $800.00 for compressor fan replacement. I'd hire anyone else next time. Stay far away form Shumate. (It's NEVER too hot to wait.)Very arrogant, I thought I was in the presence of gypsy contractors.

I will never call Shumate again

Our AC stopped working and I called Shumate today, technician arrived this P.M. and looked at the HVAC unit upstairs. He said we needed a new fan motor but tried first to convince me to replace this older unit for about $2,500. Said it would be $800 for a new fan motor. Long story short I hired another company to replace it for $250. Schumate is a rip off.

The "Tune-Up" That Wasn't

Had Shumate technician out on 6/21 to "tune-up" my AC. Leaves and says everything is good, no problems. System has worked fine through 95+degree days last week, but stopped working over the weekend (7/25). Called Shumate today to find out why my tune-up had gone bad, and now won't cool below 84-degrees in the house and was told that it is just because it is so hot outside and the system must not be big enough. Never mind that I asked the tech that EXACT question while he was here, and he said that it was plenty big, and never mind that last week when it was MUCH hotter outside than it is today, the system worked fine and cooled the house to the mid-70's. Of course, Shumate would be glad to send another tech out to check out my unit and charge me another $80. No thanks...I'll call someone willing to stand behind their work.

we had to call amex to dispute their charges

the tech came did not inspect inside units, put in 6 pounds of coolant in a 2 pound unit that leaked and not fixed, charged $300.- we complained to Jeff, and put in a dispute to amex, Jeff sent a check to us for re-imbursement in 2 weeks, the unit is still not working, a three week waste of time in 95 degree weather... use anyone else if you can. They should go into landscape, or perhaps dry cleaning.

Waiting for a part

We have been without air for 10 days..the part they need is on back order and i found that out after calling..no one will call me back...very poor service...now what was suppose to be 3 to 5 business days is going to be 10 days...They were not polite on the phone either

Super High Price.....Poor Customer Service!!!

I contacted this company twice by email and left my phone number. They did not call! After 2 days, I CALLED THEM and stated I needed a new water heater, and scheduled an appointment, in spite of having the highest prices of any company I called. I called a couple days later, and guess what?....The person I spoke with said they have no record of my appointment and transferred me to voicemail! SUPER HIGH PRICES AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Of course another company is installing the new water heater.

Very impressed with service with new AC/furnace

I had to recently replace an old AC/furnace. The rep was very thorough in helping me with the right setup for my home. I moved up to a 16 Seer Trane system and so far am thrilled with the results. The rep also recommended some slight modifications to my duct work that has made a huge improvement in my upstairs ventilation. I highly recommend.

Terrible Phone Service

When I called to have them come and look at my heating system which had quit working, the lady who answered the phone was very short and rude. She took my zip code and without saying anything else, placed me on hold. About 10 sec. later a man answered and asked if he could help me. I again explained that my heating system had quit working and I needed to schedule an appointment for them to come and look at it. He took my information and the told me that they do not schedule appointments, that a technician would just show up at my house. When I replied that I have to work and that I needed to schedule an appointment at the end of the day so I would not miss any work, he replied that they do not set appointments, that their technicians have so many appointments that the best that they could do was to call me 30 minutes before the technician comes. When I asked them if they expected me to take a day off from work and sit around the house waiting for them to show up. He replied that I could go to work and they would call me and I could leave work and meet them there. This is a terrible way to run a service business, to expect someone to put their day on hold and wait on them. I called several other companies and they all informed me that they work appointments with their customers so the customers did not have to stop their day. I decided on one of these other companies.

Big $$$ for poor work.

Someone deleted my old review. But the experience with Shumate was bad enough to warrant reposting. I had two new systems installed for megabucks in one day that the installers told me they usually took two days to install. Big mistake. Six visits later they finally got all the problems caused by the installers corrected. Pieces installed wrong, incorrect wiring, duct work not done, noisy lines, etc. One guy came out to install a duct and left sheet rock dust and particles all over my audio/video components. Not recommended is an understatement.

Fast, fair, and great work.

Due to some water damage I had to have all of my hard pipe duct work re-wrapped in my crawlspace. Shumate was the lowest bid and the work quality was great. I was very impressed with the staff (both the sales guy and the foreman that ran the crew). I had no complaints which is rare with sub-contractors. They even added straps to areas they thought needed additional support. Really did a great job.

A very professional company!

I was in market for a new ac/heating system so I got allot of estimates. My salesman Shawn was able to get me a great price as well as beating out his competition at the same time. I am very pleased with this companies work ethic,there pricing, and the time they took to service my older unit. Great work
