Very well recommended highly qualified specialist, 10/26/2012

I met Dr. Black in the hospital, mostly in ICU, while I was having a heart bypass. He managed my diabetes and got my A1C down to 6.9, the lowest it has been ever, and is managing both my diabetes... now, and surgery to correct my hyperparathyroidism as well. I've seen him in the office several times now and am very pleased with the attention and thoroughness he provides, and appreciate that he hears what you tell him the first time. His office is very neat, clean, and well appointed His staff courteous and efficient,and even funny, and have been very nice to me. My labs are quickly returned (there is a 3rd floor lab that gets them back the next day). I am seen quickly, if not early,(when I get there early). The doctor is personable and has a great sense of humor. I know from my cardiologist of his superior intellect and also that he has been in some of the best institutions in America. I highly recommend him.

Never use this Doctor, 8/26/2011

They did not refill my life medicine because he wanted another appointment in 3 months. I couldn't make an appointment during the summer (children) so he denied my prescription without letting me... know. My insurance let me know about it. I called to ask and his office did not even bother to call me back. When finally I got in touch with his staff, Ms. "EMILDA" hanged the phone to me. Rude people with no manners interested only in getting your money.

Terrible Response Times!

Dr. Black is great. He takes time with patients, he is one of the few doctors who will care about your HGH value, and he will prescribe Cytomel in addition to Synthroid. That makes him a rarity, and lets his staff take you for granted. After your visit, you should expect to wait 3-4 weeks to get results from blood tests. If you need a prescription refill, their voicemail says you need to allow 72 hours for a response.... Really, in this day and age, with automation available, there is no excuse for these slow wait times. I have seen him 3 times now, and each time, the wait for results is unbearable. I called the nurse because my eyes were bulging and I said I needed my results sooner because I might need to change my prescription. She was rude with me and told me that if there was a problem with my results, they would have contacted me right away. So the results are there, but they are taking their sweet time wading through them??? If there was another option, I'd drop Dr. Black, which would make me sad, because he himself, is really a great man.

Ditto- Great Doc! LOUSY staff

He charming, insightful, but seemingly clueless to all else (the office is circa 1980, cracked/peeled exam tables) etc. But witty, spot on and a big help. Find out who Tony is- then simply work around her. My PC doc is amazing so I expected similar. I had to wait while Tony took a personal call (she was very rude to them as well) but I need a great doc- I will (have to) live with the rest. How can a staffer (Tony) NOT look up info for me online when she was ONLINE playing when I got there? baffling.

Enjoyed all aspects of my appointment

I went to see Dr. Black for the first time today and it was one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had at a DR. office. I read all the reviews and almost didn't see him as a result. I was called in from the waiting room five minutes EARLY!!! and promptly saw Dr. Black. Much to my surprise due to these reviews, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, much better than most Dr. offices. Dr. Black spent time with me in his office, not a patient room, discussing my medical status and what his treatment plan. I highly recommend.

Dr. Black is great

I have never had a problem with the staff or anyone at Dr. Black's office. His nurse is so nice and helpful and she returns my calls the same day I place them. Dr. Black listens to what I have to say and makes sure I understand what is going on. He has helped me to understand my diabetes and how to control it better. I have already lost 30lbs since starting to see him. He started from scratch with my care and formed his own opinions and not that of other doctors that have seen me. The turn around for lab work is a little slow, but he mails you results so you can keep it for your own records.

Same Story as all others - Like Dr but staff :(

I have gone to Dr Black for 8 years. He is a very nice man who always seems interested in me. His staff can be rude but I go in there twice a year expecting nothing and they deliver. So they don't bother me I just try to be nice to them and they are always nice to me. This works for me

Will NEVER go here.

My husband made and CANCELLED his appt with Dr. Black's office and they have been sending NASTY harrassing collections of $250. For a NO SHOW FEE! Dr. Black's BILLING dept is RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. We have NEVER been to the office and WILL NOT attend or RECOMMEND. BEWARE!

Great endocrinologist/unresponsive staff

I went to him for a few years, and liked him. He is thorough, but sometimes I felt as though he was laughing in my face. He did improve his turnaround time for lab results, but his staff never called me back to ask a simple question. I have gone elsewhere.

Good but Didn't Monitor the Simvostatin Medication

Saw him for several years. Amiable fellow, very knowledgable. Staff was curt and impolite but it didn't bother me. What did was the lack of attention to the Vytorin (symvostatin) medication he prescibed for hugh cholestrol. After 6 months my body - muscles, joints, bones - started to deteriorate, and wouldn't heal. Could barely lift a wash cloth or walk to the mail box. Complained for 18 months. Always told it would fix itself. After 3 years just stopped taking the crap. Body healed and back to normal after 3 weeks. So much for conversations with your doctor.

Good Dr, - Horrible Staff

Dr. Black is a good doctor... though a little forgetful at times. The office staff is composed of the rudest, most unprofessional women I have ever had contact with. I know that Dr. Black has heard many complaints about them, so why in the world would he keep them on staff? Sadly, their attitudes will make my next appointment my last at this office.

Too Long for Test Results

I found Dr Black to be caring and spend time with his patients, however it took at least 2 weeks for lab results and was really closer to 1 month. At one point I was having my medication updated every six weeks... taking four weeks to check the lab results was almost defeating the purpose. The other thing I didn't like was the garbled message on the voicemail system with the results. I had to play it back several times and then do a search on the internet to try and fill in the blanks to figure out what he had said. I also agree with the comments on the staff. I spent two hours in the waiting room one day while some lab tests were being done at intervals, during this time I overheard many rude interactions between the staff and patients.

BEST ENDOCHRINOLOGST EVER!!! (worst office staff)

Dr. Black is THE MOST THROUGH Dr. I've EVER SEEN . Each time I go in, he'll do a blood test that's 3-pages long. Dr. Black uncovered 3-other conditions I'm now being treated for. If you want to see a Doctor that will do ALL KINDS of blood test to see what ails you...THIS IS YOUR DOCTOR. Unfortunately the Blood Test results (now take a FULL MONTH to get back--"21 Business Days" to get back. I asked the Phlebotomist about this, she told me that she thinks that's just the time it takes to make the files to Dr Black's Desk (for him to Review)--which I guess makes sense (probably get's them back within a 2-week time frame--and takes him another Business Week to go through "That Pile" of blood tests to review. HOWEVER--the Phlebotomist did tell me that if there was something that needed attention--it would be "flagged" and you'd be notified immediately---so it's not like if you were in need of "Immediate care"---you' d wait.

Worst Office Staff

After 3 visits, I decided I would never go back. The office staff, especially Toni, is the rudest I have ever encountered. I have been in the medical field myself for 25 years and would fire any of my staff that act and treat their patients like Dr. Black's front desk staff does. They are snide, nasty, uncaring, cold, unfriendly, and have the worst customer service skills I have ever seen. Waiting 2-3 weeks for lab work is ridiculous. Labs are back usually within 2-3 days. If it takes Dr. Black that long to review lab results, you could die waiting on the results or have serious medical consequences. Run - don't walk - away from this office.
