Fun, 3/20/2006

I took a ceramics class with a friend and loved it. It was a fun, relaxing, and creative way to spend time. They offer a great selection of classes that would fit into anyone schedule from retirees... to busy professionals.

Great Art Environment, 3/15/2006

Although our 8-year old enjoyed her watercolor class, and the Spruill Center's studios are inspiring, the instructor was not all that I'd hoped for. The Saturday class was well-attended by other... students and they were all nice, but after every class when I asked what the teacher did, my daughter said "she walked around, looked at our paintings, and said - - oh, that's nice!" So really, there was some initial instruction for the first 2 classes, but then, for the next 6, it seemed like the instructor just walked around the room while the children painted. I'd hoped for more depth and time for discussion of technique, although I can understand that much of painting is just that: painting. On the positive side, we were totally inspired by the various studios in the building, like glass blowing, weaving, and pottery (loved walking by the studios and peeking in on the art being created). I would recommend Spruill classes, but they are a bit expensive.

Spruill has many different types of mediums to choose from. You have glass blowing to stained glass. Pottery wheel to freehand forming. Beginning drawing to advanced. There are many other types of classes. You should easily be able to locate a class that resonates with you.

Classes are wonderful!

I love going to C. Bairds painting classes, even if I can only get to a few. I have taken many different types of classes at Spruill and have never been disappointed. The cooking classes are fun - a little higher priced, but totally worth it.

Great variety of class offerings

I have taken a number of pottery classes and one painting class. I was well-satisfied with all of them. Spruill is a great place to learn a new craft and get away from the stress of the outside world.
