I had a poor experience with the business recently once my AC went out. I was desperate for it to work on an 80 degree inside day. I called 6 places which were booked a week out. I was happy this... place was available. A HVAC guy came out and he thought we should purchase a capacitor for $250. He explains it may be a 300$ to $400 blower motor that we need but he didn't want us to buy it in vain for the capacitor may do the job. We even bought the 14$ a month maintenance plan for 1 year. He left and our AC stopped working 2 hrs later. We immediately called at 7:30 and they said someone would come. At 9:30 another guy comes out and says we need a blower motor which is $442. We refused to pay that and he says he's gonna make a call. He comes back and says he can take the previously spent 250$ from the total and we pay $345. I asked how does that add up?!? He stays until 11:30 pm and still couldn't fix it due to lack of correct parts. We went without for 2 days and Mon the co-owner was who I am able to complain too. He gave me excuses as to why their parts cost more due to the fact they have to pay their workers 25$ an hour and overhead fees. He also says my quote was only off by 100$....I guess that's not a big deal. He didn't compensate anything but 14$ back on my now canceled maintenence plan...VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
I have a 15 year old system that I know is living on borrowed time. The first time, the a/c went out on a Friday night in mid-July, no one else would come out on the weekend, and it was approaching... 100 degrees. This time, I returned home on Sunday evening to a house that was about 48 degrees. I tried myself to reset the furnace but ended up breaking a condenser pipe and making matters worse. I called Peavey who had someone on the way immediately. Brandon got here within about 30 minutes. After negotiating my cluttered garage and attic to get to the unit, he spent several minutes checking things only to discover that the ignition was bad.He gave me a price that was thousands less than I expected when I placed the call, so I told him to go ahead. Within an hour, the heat was back on and the pvc pipe I broke was fixed. Brandon was kind, professional, and just a pleasure to work with. Too often, as a single woman, I'm always afraid that someone will try to take advantage of my lack of mechanical knowledge. I never feel that way with Peavey. I will be recommending them to everyone I know. They will also be the first call early this spring when I finally bite the bullet and have the HVAC system replaced.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
I called these guys over a year ago and although expensive, I liked them. My how things change. Two weeks ago I called them out to check the A/C; the outside fan on the condensor unit was not working. Result? Bad capacitor on motor: charged $195; parts store cost is about $50. Freon servicing: charged $169; average cost is $18/pound;average home A/C unit capacity is 4 pounds; tech told me it wasn't "empty", just needed servicing. Really?
"Bear31088" Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. If the parts listed above were the only components involved in the price then it would not be fair. However, the price of the part is actually just one aspect out of many that comprises the price. Other components include: Over 1/2 of our Technicians are N.A.T.E certified (thousands in cost), we have all in house, background checked and tested co workers, our co workers are guaranteed 40 hours a week w/ full benefits, our average technician makes 25 + an hr, the overhead that is involved to have the quick response time and excellent customer service that we provide (typically 30% of cost), workman's compensation (20% of payroll), general liability insurance, marketing cost, training cost, high gas prices, fleet maintenance & insurance, Carrier Factory Authorized Dealers Training, Mitsubishi Diamond Contractors training, etc. If you take the cost of an average technician alone, by the time we match the taxes on the pay rate then we are paying over $50 dollars an hour just for the technician. Not to mention the company must make a profit in order to stay in business so we can respond same day to fix your air conditioner. Concerning the freon adjustment, we have an up front price to add additional freon. Bear approved the up front cost for freon. The system wasn't out of freon, it needed additional. Like a car that is low on oil, not completely out of oil. We also cleaned his outdoor coil for no charge saving him over $100 (included FREE in our service agreement). Since the review was posted, we refunded him for the Service Agreement he got started on and let him keep the value of the free outdoor coil cleaning. Overall, we feel and continually strive to provide the best value for the dependable expertise, customer service and top quality workmanship we provide. Thank you for your feedback. I did speak with you and your concerns about your experience with our team. We did have extremely fast response time unlike the other companies that you contacted. When Paul arrived at the call, he found a bad capacitor on the blower motor not allowing the motor to operate. The first step in trouble shooting a system requires a capacitor so we can start the system. Kyra (after the motor eventually failed, not initially) complained that we didn't replace the entire motor initially. Replacing a motor without replacing a capacitor first would be like buying a new remote controller without first replacing the bad batteries on a remote not working. When we replace the capacitor we checked the blower and it was operating properly. We did warn that there is now way to tell the life span of the existing blower motor which Kyra approved on our work order. We did discount our service charge and the part by 10% on the initial call. Unfortunately the motor did fail later in the day. We have an overtime service charge that we didn't even apply even though we came out after hours ($89 value). In addition, we offered to apply to cost of the capacitor (which was $186 not $250) to the replacement of the blower motor which Kyra approved. For both the cost of the capacitor and the cost of the motor we provided an up front cost before doing any of the work, both of which Kyra approved. The motor we had was missing a part that our technician didn't realize until the time of replacement. Kyra then canceled the follow up visit to replace the part. We were up front, polite and transparent on all calls. For our new systems installed, we have a 10 year parts and labor warranty. We did not install this system and can not be responsible for failed parts. By us applying to cost of the capacitor to the cost of the new blower motor (we include new capacitors with all blower motors) the customer did not pay any additional cost for the the blower motor repair. On a technical level, the motor was pulling the proper amps but due the capacitor failing, it caused stress on the motor which is why we pre warned the customer that the blower could fail. We are not the type of company that is going to sell a part that isn't needed and hasn't failed. Most of the time parts will continue to run after a failed component is replaced and we save our homeowners a lot of money. We voided off $15 off the service charge, $21 of the capacitor, $89 off the overtime service charge and $186 off the cost to replace the blower motor for a total savings of $311. Not to mention the added value of our response time, customer service, etc. We know that it can be frustrating not having cool air but in this case we do not feel we could have done anything better. Thank you for your time and opportunity to service you.

I called Peavey A/C because our downstairs air conditioning didn't seem to be cooling. They came out to service our unit and determined that we had a leak. They fixed our leak in a timely manner. Their price was fair.
We am sitting in our cool bedroom thanks to the Peavey HVAC team. This is significant considering we use to hate being upstairs during the summer. But thanks to the team at Peavey this is now enjoyable. We found them on Kudzu, and after talking to several other HVAC companies found that the product knowledge, honesty, and service set them apart from the others. Each time we have used them they have been consistent with scheduled time arrival, workers who don't track in dirt and who clean up after themselves. The extent of our work has included a home performance evaluation, insulation, foam, home sealing, A/C service, and more. I love the company's goal of treating every customer as a priority. All this and they are competitively priced. Thanks for everything guys.
I got quotes from several companies before going with Peavey. I decided to use them because they gave me unique solutions I hadn't heard from anybody else. I received a very in-depth assessment of my living space with the initial quote. I was impressed with their knowledge and inclusion of outlying factors that affect my home's environment beyond the compressor and air-handler like airflow and noise. Inevitable problems were handled professionally. They are problem solvers.
I live in Decatur, GA, my heater wasn’t working back in December, 2014, I called Peavey A/C & Heating they come and advise me to change the furnace, I paid $150 for the inspection then $1,750 for changing the furnace, everything seem working well until we turn on the AC on May, 2014, then we noticed a leak under the furnace, I called Peavey A/C & Heating again to check it out, this time he said there is a leak on the system and we are nor responsible check it the leak will cost $375 and adding Freon will cost $284, I requested a second opinion so I hire another AC Certified tech to check it out , he said that the system is fine but the coil wasn’t level when the new furnace was installed, so I paid $425 including adding freon to the system. I spoke with Joe from Peavey A/C & Heating and ask him for a refund, at this time they declined. I will not recommend them may be only to change the filter.
My name is Danny - thank you for your feedback. I empathize with your situation and am sorry you had a difficult second experience with us after being satisfied with our furnace installation. If you kindly recall the time we originally replaced the furnace, David also recommended either 1.) upgrading the extremely old outdoor AC & indoor Coil (which as you know are separate components we didn't install but work as a team with the indoor furnace) due to age, condition, and efficiency or 2.) at a minimum: maintenancing the old AC & Coil. It's the same thought with a car: if you don't replace a 20+ year old car, you have to at least maintenance it every 3-6 months (spark plugs, changing the oil, etc) so it will run when you turn it on. While appreciative of your business on the furnace only, you declined both of these recommendations on the AC & Coil. When the furnace was installed, we strapped and leveled the coil and checked it with a level.
When you called us back out for the "no AC" service call in the spring, our technician found that while the indoor coil was still evenly set on the indoor furnace, the outdoor AC/indoor coil was 4 pounds low on freon so the coil froze up. When the ice on the coil thawed out, it had symptoms of a water leak because the ice thawed out and the water ran down the side of the furnace because the coil sits on top of the furnace. As recommended, if the old AC & Coil was maintenanced at least twice per year, then this could have been prevented. Similar to the first furnace installation, we advised against a temporary fix of putting 4 pounds of freon into such an old, leaky AC & Coil but instead to put that money towards a new AC & Coil or at least do a leak search to find the leak (long term fixes & best solution). You declined all three options from Peavey and, as you mentioned, hired a 3rd party individual to put freon in but still had leaks after his work was completed. We can't in good conscious speak on the work of that individual or pay you $425 for his work considering Peavey didn't do the $425 job, our consistent AC & coil recommendations, and the fact that they had nothing to do with the original furnace installation. I do thank you for the review because it is a good reminder on why we train our team hundreds of hours each year & continue making company improvements to create better experiences for our customers. Do keep in mind that we have won the Super Service award from Angie's List two years in a row, HomeAdvisor's 2014 top honor for quality/service/value, hundreds of mostly 5 star reviews on other forums, and dozens of referrals. We would welcome the opportunity to serve you again with the hope we can bring you back to a similar positive experience with our company. Please feel free to call me directly at 404-732-6169 if that is indeed a possibility for you. Thank you.
The Peavey rep Joe F arrived on time and was very courteous and professional. He wore shoe covers to walk around the house and listened while I explained what was going on. After about 20 min he came back down from the attic and told me why my furnace was not draining. He realized that even though i didnt know to much about my furnace, he knew that I understood technically what was suppose to happen so we went up to the attic and he showed me that the drain pipe was on backwards. Reliable heating and air came out to my house to repipe and this is why it was backwards. After he fixed the issue, he even drained the line and made sure the water was going properly outside. The owner called a week later to follow up. I am happy to say that water no longer stays in my drain pan after using the AC for about 2 weeks.
Have only had my spring/summer service call, but ready for fall/winter call. The first one was great!
Technician ( Joe ) was on time, efficient, and personable. We are quite satisfied and look forward to the year of service.
I recently moved to Atlanta and needed to have some insulation work done in the crawl space. Jason Peavey showed up as scheduled and provided a competitive quote to do the job. I was very impressed with Jason's professionalism and knowledge which put me at ease. The Technician assigned to do the work the following week showed up on time and did a awesome job. A few weeks later I had a emergency A/C issue caused by some contractors doing work on my home. I called Peavey and they had someone out right away to fix the problem. Jason and Joseph Peavey were very nice and sympathetic to the fact that I had just moved in and already having problems. I will defiantly use this company again and have no problem recommending them to friends and neighbors.
Found Peavey A/C online along with many other 4/5 star contractors. Called them to service the two older systems in my townhome. The experience was superb - Joe arrived promptly as promised. Was particularly thorough in checking out and servicing both units - did multiple tests, cleaned and explained his work in a way far beyond anything I'd experienced from previous vendors. He was attentive to details, courteous, pleasant both in his service and explanations about potential options going forward for these older units. Truly pleasurable, educational experience. Thanks Joe! Bob Hayes
Freddie from Peavey came out to my home and provided maintenance and service on my AC unit. He was very professional and thorough and the AC has never run this well! I would highly recommend them.
As a single, professional women, I do a lot of research on any company that I bring into my home to quote a project. I needed an ENTIRE system overhaul. They listened to my goals, evaluated my home extensively, and helped me maximize my budget. They also consulted me on projects I could do to improve home energy efficiency. Peavey is how business should be in that they are honest, reliable, educated on their trade and take pride in what they do. All aspects of my project were nearly flawless and the one small glitch, they resolved to my satisfaction. It's realistic to expect in major home projects that things don't always go perfecty, but you need someone that takes care of YOU and takes proper recourse. I didn't feel like the DOLLAR was their priority, but instead my comfort and satisfaction. I recommend Peavey A/C and Heating wholeheartedly and would absolutely use them again.
We got a living social deal for a yearly service agreement and have been very pleased. We also wound up needing to replace our air conditioning unit and had a great experience with that as well. Great service, great value, great work - people that really care about their customers. I recommend them to everyone!
Thank you for the repeat business. -Jason Peavey
What they said they would do, they did in a timely, professional manner. There were recommendations, but not the pressure to spend more money, Joe, job well done!
Time is one of the most precious things we have so we try our best not to waste yours! Thank you for your business. Jason Peavey
