Great Service, 9/23/2014

The Pink Plumber arrived as scheduled and did the job well. Cost was higher than I anticipated, but I was probably unrealistic in my expectations.

Hot Water Heater leaking, 9/18/2014

The technician, Steven W, clearly explained the root cause of the water leakage in the garage. He replaced the thermal expansion tank and a couple other necessary parts. Thanks!

Plumbing Emergencies

Don't know how we've been so lucky to have stopped-up sewer drains on weekends for two years in a row! My husband called Aames on a Sunday morning and they said that someone would arrive before 5:00 p.m., which they did. The worker (Anthony) was personable and efficient and had our system back to normal before dinner. Fee seemed reasonable for what had to be done -- and on a weekend.

The Pink Plumber replied on 08-31-2011

Thank you for choosing Aames for your drain cleaning needs please call us if you ever need plumbing, septic, or heating & air. We charge the same rates nights, weekends, and holidays

Do Not Trust Pink Plumber

The Pink Plumber I wish that I had read this review before having The Pink Plumber come out. They advertised a $199 septic tank cleaning special. Before they even had the lid off they were telling me that I need a new septic system for $3,800 - 4,500. I work for a General Contractor & asked the man to explain all of his jargon to my boss (over the phone). My boss said that they were just trying to sell their new systems. So I told Nick Bryant that I don't want or need a new system (it has been working fine, just time to clean it) Then he called me back & said that he needs to jet the field lines for $2,764. I had never heard of jetting field lines, (I used to work for a plumbing co.) so I called our regular plumber, who had also never heard of jetting field lines. He suggested that I call a friend of his in septic work in another city. Those plumbers laughed & said that it was the 1st they had heard of it, that there was no where to jet the field lines to & that they were too small to be jetted & that they had also heard all kinds of complaints about the Pink Plumber. So, after after asking The Pink Plumber to just pump out the tank, my bill ended up being almost $650! They charged me an additional $288 to dig until they could get to the tank, to lift the lid off. I chose the Pink Plumber because I thought that they give to Cancer research, so they must be good guys. I was very mistaken. I agree with a fellow reviewer - Buyer Beware!

The Pink Plumber replied on 09-17-2014

The advertised price stated to the customer is $195, not $199. The customer is informed at the time they make the appointment that the price includes 18" digging, 6" of sludge/solids and 75 ft of vacuum hose. The state of GA and local county health departments recommend that a tank is pumped every 3- 5.years. The reason the price increased in this case from $195 is because the tank was more than 18" in depth and there was 3 feet of additional solids. The technician covered this with the customer prior to doing any work and they approved the charges. Upon discovering the amount of solids in the tank, the technician asked the customer when the last time it was pumped. They replied that they had lived in the house since 1998 and it had not been pumped in at least that long. Once the tank was pumped, the tech was able to evaluate the system. All of our techs go through testing and continuous education required by the state. The technician is required to educate the customer on any deficiencies they may have with their system per code. The technician informed this customer that prior solids had exited the tank into the field lines causing gases generated in the field to ventilate into the rear of the tank which decayed the outlet baffle tee (per code should be replaced) Recommendations to service the field lines were discussed with the customers boss over the phone. The opinions of a friend and/or the plumbers is irrelevant as they were not present and appear not to be too knowledgable in this subject. The fact they are not familiar with jetting and can determine the field lines are too small would suggest this. The Health department oversees construction and installation according to the permit they issue. We would like to say that the cost of our service in this case is cheaper than if the owner serviced the tank as is recommended. Should they choose to wait another 16+ years then they can expect to incur higher costs than someone else who does not neglect their system. Also know that a failed system can be an environmental health violation.

Great Service

The Friday before Labor Day, we discovered that we had a leaking water heater. We contacted The Pink Plumber and Jack Garland came out the same afternoon. He assessed the situation, offered us two solutions, and gave us the quotes for each. Because our water heater was old, we decided to replace the unit. We scheduled the replacement for the Tuesday following Labor Day. Jack arrived promptly and went to work. It was not an easy job - our unit is located in a difficult access area in the attic. He had to go up and down stairs and navigate around two small children in the kitchen who were curious to see what he was doing. He was courteous, professional, quiet, and hardworking. The job was completed well and we are very satisfied with the result. We highly recommend Jack Garland and The Pink Plumber based on our great experience with the company.

Jack Garland and the Pink Plumber.

These folks were fantastic from the time I sent in a note on the net to the phone call I received from the office. Super. Now, the rest of the story. Jack came out and had every answer to my questions before I even ask the them. We had a major leak between the street and home without any clues to where it was located. After several checks and answers he had the solution, plan of attack and price. The estimation of when he could have the crew together was right on and the phone calls from the office advising of his arrival time and the time the job would be finished was way more than I expect. The Crew/Team at this organization is super. A big "Thank YOU ALL". Bud and Vicky Sue.

Answered All of Our Questions

The technician arrived 2 hours after the estimated time, but we did receive a phone call that he was delayed by another job. Once he arrived, Paul was very patient in taking the time to answer all of our questions. After replacing our water heater, he took the time to explain everything about the water heater. He also cleaned the area prior to leaving. Overall, good service by a friendly and helpful technician. We would ask for Paul again to repair any plumbing problems.

Be Warned

I replied to the ad for $159 septic cleaning and if had agreed to all the undisclosed charges in their ad and overwhelming upselling job by the employee, I would have paid $3,737!!! I would appear the employees are likely forced to generate sales for things you do not need. Also, the lack of transparency in their pricing was shocking. There were numerous nickel and dime fees not included in the ad and even things that are advertised as "included" were not. For instance they advertise that up to 18 inches of digging is free. However, it's not free if they do it by hand, only if they use their digging machines. This is the first negative online review of a company I have provided in my life but I believe it is justified so that anyone using the company can beware that they are sending over a salesman that will try to generate ways to charge you more money. P.S.- My $159 septic cleaning still cost me $1,352.

The Pink Plumber replied on 07-10-2014

Our employees are not forced to generate sales for things not needed. We provide a service and advertise for it, sometimes even offering specials. In this case we are running a special to pump a 1000 gallon tank for $159. We can run this special and when a customer calls we can tell the customer what it includes. However we can't see what's really going on until we put eyes on the ground. We can't know the condition of the tank and system and how it has been maintained until then. With this service we pumped out 2 tanks. One was 1000 gallons and one was 1500 gallons. We charged $159 and $259 respectively for this service. According to the customer these tanks had not been pumped in 10 years, and the recommendation is tanks be pumped every 3-5 years. We did have to charge extra for hand digging as 9 times out of 10 using an excavator is possible. Our technicians explained this to the customer before doing the work and they agreed to it (at least at the time). The reason was due to accessibility because of a fence, retaining wall, deck posts, muddy gravel and broken concrete. In fact we had to use a 6 ft wrecker bar to loosen area prior to even being able to shovel. We recommended to replace the filter on the 1000 gallon tank which also was discussed and approved before work was done. In addition we used a camera to check out the line. This was not a charge to customer but allows for our technicians to make thorough recommendations if necessary based on their findings. When a customer calls us for service, we will be as thorough and transparent as possible. The technician is key to providing all relevant information to the customer and providing them with options and recommendations. Were they not thorough and only doing the minimum, and problems persist without the customer at least knowing why, then the complaint would be how could we not see this problem or that problem and why did we not recommend this or that. It is also worth mentioning that to pump out 2 tanks maintained properly would take about an hour, and on this call it took approximately 4.

Great service, Great quality, but expensive

Bryan, the service rep, went above and beyond to get a clogged pipe unclogged. The hand-held snake wasn't enough, so he brought in the monster snake and solved the problem. He also helped with a leaky shower head and I was able to order a replacement part from Kohler under a lifetime warranty. He'll be back to install it when it arrives. $526.25 s far...

Lack of Integrity!

Two experiences: For my home PinkP refused to honor internet pricing: Was told by the dispatcher I could use an online coupon offer of $99 to unblock a drain. When the tech showed up he wanted $150 for the work and called his boss who refused to honor their original offer and the coupon printed online. I spent $8 on drain cleaner and it worked the next day and saved $$$. My wife needed to have a 3 gallon water heater replaced at her office. She received quotes on average of $500 but PinkP wanted $1,800 + $200 because it was located in a small place. Just because they donate to charity doesn't mean they can not honor their printed material or rip off people! I'm sticking with my local plumber instead!
