Garbage
Was sent here for drug overdose and all this place had me doing was wishing I actually died. There is zero personal care aside from a rare few minutes a day with a doctor. Most are immigrants and love to pump everyone full and keep them high. The groups are catered exclusively to drug addicts unless you're on the really crazy side, then it's just seated exercising, music therapy, and maybe two or three others dominated by schizophrenics. The CA's do NOT care about anyone there as they appear to be busy with other happenings around the hospital. This place is ridiculous

Don't consider admitting a family member here!
Our son spent 8 days here after we were told he would be out in 72hrs. We never got to meet or speak to his assigned Doctor. Even after leaving him numerous voice messages to call us to discuss his status. When he was informed of his day to be discharded 4 days after. I received a call from billing at 8PM in the evening to see if I could pay the $1000.00 deductible plus 20% of the remainder of his bill on my credit card. Our son had not even been discharged. Absolutely outrageous and unethical practice in my opinion. Visiting is limited and twice we found him overmedicated during our visits. It was a nightmare for us and for him. This place is like a prison. Keep out! Doctors and their staff are not interested in caring for patients. An investigative report should be conducted here soon. This is not a hospital.

Forget your rights!
Recently had to admit my child to the adolescent unit due to medication issues, which were no fault of his own. Signed him in voluntarily, after not being properly informed of our options, but had to fight to have him discharged. We signed papers stating our rights, including the right to information about our child's care at any time. When we called, we kept being told we'd receive a return phone call to give us information. The first full day (he was admitted late afternoon the day before), the return call took five hours and several phone calls. The second day, we didn't get a return phone call at all. The third day, it was almost 5pm before we finally got a call, again after multiple attempts to contact. The first two days, our child wasn't even sure who the doctor was, and only had a quick visit each day. The third day, I was told that the doctor hadn't seen him yet for the day when I got the call (again, it was almost 5pm), but my son informed me he'd seen the doctor earlier in the day and didn't see him in the evening. The one time that the doctor did call the first day, she couldn't keep the doses of his medication straight during our call, and she wouldn't give me any straight answers. I was worried the whole time my son was in there because I was afraid he might get over-medicated since the doctor couldn't keep facts straight. There were very few friendly employees, mostly the 'social workers' (case managers). Son felt like a prisoner!

Needs Improvements
Positive Feedback: The doctors are great and the social workers are very nice. Some charge nurses and therapy staff are great and positive.

Negative Feedback: As the parent of an adolescent, I did not feel well informed about the procedures and treatment the children receive. Additionally, it seems that there is not a process for providing family inpatient processes. It was difficult to obtain patient information as well as simple standard procedures such as how and when to contact patients. Operators and reception staff can be rude and unhelpful. I felt as though I was being a bother by asking general questions. Some of the general staff that answer phones in the division for adolescence can be rude and unhelpful.

When patients receive extended outpatient services, the procedures are not clearly defined. It is up to the patient and family to know the right questions to ask in order to obtain the information that is required.

RUN AWAY.
My mother was admitted in December 2011. She has Dementia and was only supposed to be in Peachford for about three days. Due to coverage issues, she was there for over a month. Before she was admitted, she walked around her nursing home about 8 hours a day - a constant walker. I saw her on her feet the day she was admitted to Peachford - the day before Christmas - and she has never walked again. While under Peachford's care, she was grossly overmedicated and lay in a geriatric chair 24 hours a day. When she had to visit the ER for a severe bladder infection, we thought it odd that she had 3 diapers on. They. Were. Not. Changing. Her. She sat in her own filth as the nurses simply slapped one pair of diapers over the next. Because they simply drugged her and did not shift or move her, she developed necrotic tissue on her heels from where her feet were constantly resting on the geriatric chair. Her foot tissue died. She has not walked since. If you even remotely care for your loved one - RUN - don't walk, RUN away from this absolutely abhorrent place. This is the worst regret of my life. I will never forgive myself for putting my mother through this torture.

Hoped for Change
I was in Peachford in 1996. It was horrible. Everyone was rude, couldn't get a pillow, it was filthy. Being my first time in rehab didn't know what to expect. Maybe we're supposed to be treated like prisoners. Met so many people who were duped (coerced by asking questions that would keep them there\shown great photos & promo) into coming and couldn't get out. They will try to keep you as long as insurance will pay. I am writing this review now as a friend called me & was thinking of going here; told her no, but decided to look for reviews in case it had changed. It hasn't and having been in other places like Floyd Behavioral Ctr in Rome, GA now know that there are places where you are treated with dignity & respect.
