I bought a vehicle from Jim Ellis back in October 2013 and felt like I got a great deal and great service. I returned last night expecting the saleman I had an appointment with to help us make a... trade into another vehicle. No such luck...we got to the dealership on time but were handed off to another salemans while our original salesman (who we had appointment with) left to deliver a car. Long story short, we found a vehicle we liked and were passed off again (3rd saleman in one visit) to a salesman introduced as a "certified professional" who had no idea of what we had discussed up to that point who offered us two thirds the actual value of our trade toward the full price of a new vehicle. All the while, a gaggle of salemen sat around the counter in showroom yucking it up and carrying on like a bunch of middle school kids. Seriously? What happened to the dealership I visited less than 8 months ago? It's doubtful Mr Ellis will read this post, so will copy in a letter to the dealership owner. Little to no attn from salespeople, had to ask for there business card, etc etc etc. They acted like they didn't care if they got my business so I went elsewhere.
We purchased a 2011 Santa Fe from Jim Ellis Hyundai and worked with Arcie Ashley. We actually enjoyed doing business with a car dealership! We found the experience to be a refreshing change from automobile purchases we’ve made in the past. The dealership was remarkably well organized, clean and customer-focused. The pricing provided was very competitive and we received no pressure follow-up to my initial inquiry. They successfully located the vehicle we were looking for and had it brought in for us, honored their "drive out" pricing, and made the entire experience hassle-free. We treated with respect. Arcie gave us a tour of their facility and introduced to some of the Service Department staff while we were there. She provided us with an excellent orientation of the features of our Santa Fe and was very thorough and informative. She went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable with the various features of the vehicle before we ever left the parking lot. Throughout the entire process Arcie represented Jim Ellis Hyundai with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. You can rest assured that we will recommend Jim Ellis Hyundai to our friends, family and co-workers when asked about our purchase experience. Arcie stated that her goal was to exceed our expectations. As far as my wife and I are concerned, that goal was met!
Brought my Q7 in for minor body work and routine maintenance. They charged me $132 for an oil change and $75 for two wiper blades....and the blades don't work. They didn't test them after install! Also checked my ac, told me my compressor was failing. As I was only 6,000 miles out of warranty they would split the charge (not my first time using service Dept here); total replacement was $2,600 so my half was $1,300. I immediately called Jim Ellis Marietta and a their quote was $1,570 for the whole job! Didn't get the work done! I then called Ken Kimbro, the customer relations manage to share my concerns. He was unresponsive, unhelpful and told me "they do pretty good there and he was sorry I had a bad experience". Do yourself a favor, save you money and go elsewhere for service.
I received a f/u contact from a Rep at a dealership I contacted prior to our purchase. After I advised that we had already made our purchase, the Rep asked if I could explain why I chose to go with a different dealership. I responded in the following manner. I completed my purchase with "Jim Ellis" for the following reasons: I knew what I wanted (GM Certified Used, around $24k or under, no older than 2009, no more than 40+k miles, Acadia/Outlook/Traverse LT, clean carfax, and I wanted to buy before 4/2/11). This dealership had what I wanted and a little more (Acadia w/ 2nd row bucket and vehicle was 1 owner/non-rental car). I liked my salesman (he was a salesman, but didn't present as a salesman... seemed like a "regular" guy selling cars; he was accomodating and willing to "run anything up the flagpole"). Though my husband and I were already pre-approved for individual loans through each of our credit unions, the timing to get to one by our desired "buy time" was not convenient to our work schedules. Jim Ellis was able to match our credit unions' financing offers, which made things more convenient for us. Note: Just as you guys rec'd my info, I did a lot of checking out various dealerships online before actually going out. I ended up going to 3 dealerships in all and I contacted a/b 4 or 5 via internet processes. I will say that all the "internet f/u people", from every dealership, were great and attentive. Ingrid

Jeremy was amazing. It was low pressure, he answered our questions honestly and directly and kept us informed as we were waiting for our car to be delivered. Jeremy asked questions about how we drove and really sought to understand what were looking for in a car before he start to show a single car. His friendly attitude and professionalism were well appreciated. This is my second car buying experience and this was hands down 100% better than the last experience at the last dealership. Even on "paperwork day" Rob did a great job explaining everything and walking us through the process. He really made the feeling of sliding a check across the table comforting. Between Jeremy and Rob, we really felt like we were in good hands. Rick Fortnam has been the definition of what a customer facing individual should be. He is ALWAYS courteous, he knows me by name when I arrive, my loaner car is always available as promised, my car is clean and ready when promised. He IS customer service. I am in sales, and our manager challenges us to "under promise and over deliver" - and I can't think of a better phrase to describe Rick's service. As a result, he gained my commitment to exclusively use Jim Ellis Audi for my service needs over a year ago - and I have been nowhere else since. Also, I recently traded in my Q5 for an A4 at Jim Ellis - and then returned to trade the A4 in for an A6, also with Jim Ellis. You can thank Rick, Chris L. and Masud for my repeat (and continued) business.
I have been searching for my gecco green new beetle bug for 6 mo. When I saw it come up on Autotrader I immeadiately called my salesperson (Trent), who proceeded to tell me it was not at his dealership. He quickly referred me to Phil, who prepped my car for my arrrival. Phil had the car washed & top down ready for my test drive. We chatted about family ties to Charleston ad 2 hrs later I was leaving with my new beetle. Phil made the transaction seamless from the test drive to keys in hand. He filled up the tank, showed me "all" of my key features and sent me on my way with a BIG smile...
I have to totally agree with with Sally on her last review. I always take my cars to dealership under the misconception that they know your car better and offer a better service but Jim Ellis proved me wrong again, I shouldn't have bought a Buick. I should have gotten another Acura. Ed Voyles alwyas did me right for 6 years. I only took the Buick to Jim Ellis because they are closer to my house. I had a bad experience with my Chevy Van, a few years back and also their Audi Dealership because their "awful" sales staff which prompted me to buy an Acura across the street for $48,000. I guess 3 strikes you are out. Make sure when you purchase any service that they really do the service, especially with oil changes, multi-inspections, tire rotations. No way to check if it really has been done, I just happened to watch the tech from them minute it was pulled in and until it came back out. Just spent $80 on an oil change. Yes, they called to tell me they would do it again to satify me, however once you lost my trust I wouldn't let you touch my car again, no telling if you will do something else to my car, I rather go somewhere else and let people know that they need to be careful
Buying a car at Jim Ellis Hyundai was a great experience. The staff was not only courteous and helpful but made me feel like family. I love my new Santa Fe and I will never buy a car anywhere else!
Your internet staff - Darryl Baxter was great. There was no 'come ons', no attempts to have me call instead of using the internet ( which is why Rick Case did NOT get my business). Mr. Baxter was honest, easy to work with and I believe he really wanted me to be happy with my purchase. AND.....I was very happy I bought my Hyundai from Jim Ellis and through Darryl Baxter. I enjoyed the experience, which isn't something I can say about every car I purschased in my life. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the process was quick and efficient.
