I have been going to Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic for the past 4 years. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the doctors and staff there. When I walk in the door I am always greeted by... my name! This is probably the only place, besides my hairdresser that I get treated like I am their longtime friend. The doctors and technicians are amazing! I have seen several of the doctors there and they truly care about me and my dog!! I usually do not take the time to write reviews but with customer service now a days I feel it necessary to reward those that do a fantastic job at it!! If you are looking for a vet this is the place to go!VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
When I turned 16 my parents bought me a golden retriever puppy for my birthday. I took my time looking for a Veterinary clinic who would meet my standards of care for my new pup and I found it at... Pleasant Valley. Even when my dog was diagnosed with cancer years later, the staff was phenomenal and so supportive. To this day I have taken all my pets there and though some of the staff may have changed, the quality of care has not.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
Pleasant Valley Vet Clinic is staffed with caring, competent, thorough people who treat the pets (and their owners) like family. I totally trust their service and wouldn’t even think about taking my dog to any other clinic.

I had to post because the vet hospital I used in NY where I used to live wasn't nearly as thorough. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and needed a vet I can count on, being in a new city. I was very pleased that they have the vets on call here if I need to get on touch with them when they are closed. I was also very satisfied with the entire visit, from the initial phone call to the technicians and the vets. They were so thorough in addressing all of my pets individual needs. They also gave a discount on the exam with more than 1 pet. I would highly recommend Pleasant Valley Vets to anyone! They are the best we've seen in a long time!
I have brought my 3 labs to Pleasant Valley Vets for over 15 years. Dr. J. Carmichael, as well as Dr. Brad and the other doctors have always given my girls exceptional care. The staff is always caring and they go above and beyond. Especially with their emergency on-call service, which no one else I know offers. I would highly recommend Pleasant Valley Vet to anyone.
My 60 lbs dogs went to here several years ago. When I had taken him for his first appointment, my dog was immediately muzzled, "for the protection of the vet", He dog had a growth near his genitals and they quoted me $5000 to have it removed. I switched vets and it only cost me $800. My new vet called PV to get my dogs records and they claimed they didn't have any. Two years later I moved a block away from the vet and I have not heard anything but barking! I understand there is a kennel there, but all they do is CAGE the dogs. These dogs bark all day long. When I approached them about it, I encounter an unprofessional, angry staff member who was yelling in my face. Really?!?!? Their remarks were, "They can't be barking all day we only let them out in the a.m. and p.m. She then gave me the managers number to discuss the situation with her. I called and was threaten to get harassment charges, if I had called her again. I was amused at this point considering her unprofessional staff member gave me the number. Please be aware and double check what really happens when you board your family pet there.
We offer top notch care to our pet parents and pets at Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic and Kennel. If a pet is muzzled, it does not harm the pet and is only used as a last resort to ensure the safety of the owner, staff and the pet, the same as all other vet clinics. Furthermore, we do not practice any specialty surgeries which would ever cost close to $5,000. Also, Pleasant Valley Kennel has been a successful part of our clinic for over 20 years. We offer playtime and weather permitting, they receive supervised outdoor play sessions. The dogs do sometimes bark, as with any kennel! They do not bark all day long, as the play times are scheduled for morning and evening. Dogs may be walked up to 4 times daily, but never continuously bark. We have never received a complaint about barking before. Our staff is caring and courteous, even when confronted by abusive language.
I called on a Saturday to see if I could bring my cat in for a problem but was told that if your not already a Client we can't help you.
We are sorry you had this response. Our current staff is very caring and make an effort to get in any client, whether new or current. Saturdays are short and very booked with only 2 doctors. We do occasionally need to refer pets to an after hours emergency clinic, if we cannot give them the prompt care and attention they deserve. We also do offer our After Hours Assurance emergency on-call service to anyone, client or not, for a small fee. We have found that many calls require direction from the veterinarian, but avoid unnecessary visits to the emergency clinics.
I recently took my small dog into the vet because she was vomiting and very lethargic. Dr. Brad informed us that he would need to keep her over night for review. He also stated that he did not feel blood work was necessary (since he is the trained professional we did not question his decision), however, he did put her on an IV. She received TWO IV treatments (she only weights 11 pounds). He called to let us know that she could be picked up the next day. Upon picking her up, her belly was significantly distended and she was breathing very very heavy. We asked to speak to the doctor and we were told "Dr. Brad said she was fine". Over the next 24 hours my dog's condition worsened dramatically. We took her back to the vet the very next morning, and Dr. Brad completed x-rays on her belly. The X-Rays concluded that her lungs were filling up with fluid (the IV FLUID). He THEN decided to complete blood work. The blood work revealed that she had low protein in her blood and that her body couldn't process fluids. He informed us that we needed to rush her to a vet hospital immediately, and that she might not make it there. If he had completed this blood work two days ago, we wouldn't be in this position!!! We ended up spending thousands of dollars at a vet hospital to save our dog, all because Dr. Brad did not follow protocol. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE.
At PVVC, we understand that pets are part of the family. When an illness or emergency strikes, it is devastating. We treat each pet as our own and each medical condition treated based on the individual case. There are many details, decisions and communications to sometimes multiple family members, which can cause misunderstandings. We regret any perceptions of less than optimal care, as we practice the best possible medicine and have the highest of intentions to do so. When we need to refer a pet to a specialty practice, we absolutely do, as we are not equipped for critical care patients.
Dr. Brad and staff provide a superior level of service. We are able to contact them at any hour with emergencies. Very compassionate, very informed. We wouldn't use anyone else.
