This will be a different kind of review since I haven’t had Daniels Floors come out to work with me yet. But I couldn’t wait to write and tell of my experience so far. I called them today to see... what they thought of the floors we have in our new/old house. I talked with Laura for quite a while trying to decide what would be our best course of action on these old floors that I am trying to save. She was so nice and patient with me and gave me some really good advice on how to get what I’m after without spending a fortune and expending massive unnecessary effort. She even offered to have someone come out to see if they could help in any way. I was really impressed with the whole conversation and their willingness to help me even though they may not be able to make any money from us right now. I definitely consider them our new flooring company and will call them the minute I have something they can do for us. I really appreciate the small businesses with the “we care about our customers first” attitude and want to thank Laura and Daniels Floors for helping us out. I highly recommend you give them a call.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
Anyone unsure of which flooring company to choose for their next project, I have your answer, Daniel’s Floors. It is so rare to request contract work that you find a company you can tell takes pride... in getting the job done correctly and beautifully. Daniel’s Floors exceeded my every expectation by going the extra mile. I had new hardwoods feathered into existing hardwoods and the floors refinished. Laura is extremely personable and knowledgeable. She was able to come out and give me an estimate the same day I called. Thereafter, Daniel mixed the elaborate custom stain samples I had in mind and answered any of my questions. I asked for the shoe molding to be stained to match the floors, cable wiring holes to be repaired, to remove a threshold between doors, and mentioned a flush-mount floor vent though I wasn’t sure if it came in the size I needed. Naturally from other remodeling experiences I asked, “Do you need to write this down or anything?” He said, “No, I will remember” and he did, Daniel remembered every little nuance we spoke about and completed each of the things I requested flawlessly. The entire process took less than a week (and without any dust!). They made me a custom size flush-mount floor vent to fit the space and took tremendous care working around appliances. I am so picky and when I find a company that completes the job without needing a single reminder, tweak, or call-back I want to tell everyone you can rest assured with Daniel’s Floors.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
We had a terrible experience with a company we had used in the past (also on Kudzu with lots of ratings) to replace our carpeted stair treads and wooden balusters to wood treads and iron. I called several companies from stair specialist to carpenters to contractors/builders find someone who actually knew what they were doing to replace our staircase. We had all brand new white oak treads, railings and newels installed as well as iron balusters. Daniels admited they DID NOT do staircase work anymore but they did refer me to an EXCEPTIONAL carpenter Scott Matteson who they gladly gave me contact info for. Daniels Floors did all the refinishing of our new staircase after Scott Matteson was finished. Everything was brand new wood so it only needed a finish sanding/stain poly. They sent Ivan promptly after the staircase was finished by the carpenter Scott. I am not totally happy with the water based poly used though. Laura insisted the water based poly (everwhere else in our home is Oil based) was superior to oil poly and would be dry very fast. The fast drying is true however we are not convinced the water poly is better. In fact, we feel as though though the water based product is thin and will not last. We compared our new staircase with the old railing and the difference is obvious. Oil based poly is far superior feel and texture. All in all they are a good company and offer a decent value despite the limitations in the water based polyurethane they offer.

Thanks for providing your feedback. I did not realize you were disappointed with your polyurethane. It is guaranteed not to wear of, peel or flake off for a period of AT LEAST 5 years under the harshest conditions. If it does not hold up, we will gladly apply another coat at no additional charge. I also thought thicker poly provided better protection until we did a test in our home. Approx.5 yrs. ago, we finished two high traffic areas of our home; one with oil based and one with water based. The oil based has worn down and needs to be recoated. The water based poly still looks great. Water based poly is now used in most commercial applications, including the NBA courts. We refinished the floors in the historic Wimbush House, the mansion on Peachtree St at 14th st, right after Thanksgiving. We sanded, stained and applied 3 coats of water based poly in only two days. The following day, a wedding reception was held. There were no toxic fumes or odors from the polyurethane, like there is with oil based poly. There were holiday parties during the entire month of December, with lots of high heels, tables and chairs moving in and out and food and drinks spilled. In January, they hired us for another project. I inquired about how the floor held up. The manager said the floor looks as good as the day it was finished. There are several other public places that we have used this polyurethane on. The oxygen cross-linking formula is stronger without having a thick finish on the floor. Oil based formulas do not provide UV protection. Your wood will fade and the finish will turn an unsightly orange or yellow over time. Our finish protects the wood from fading and keeps the stain color the same over the years. Additionally, our crew and your family were not exposed to the toxins released from the oil based polyurethane. The water based polyurethane we use costs twice as much as the oil based poly we used to use. However, it performs twice as well. Do the original boxy cell phones perform better than the sleek cell phones we have now? I am glad you are pleased with your stairs. Daniels Floors DOES do staircases. Scott is our stair contractor. (and likewise, we are his flooring contractors when his clients have hardwood flooring jobs) I generally do the estimates for our clients who are having flooring and stairs done, and forward the details and photos to Scott. He is a master carpenter who really takes pride in his work. In your case, after the horrible experience you had, I felt,(correctly) that it would be best if Scott met with you personally to answer all of the questions and assure you that he is more than qualified to build you a handcrafted staircase that is beautiful and structurally sound, and meets building code standards. I wouldn't want anyone to read that we do not do stairs, and hire another company. We want to keep Scott busy!

Thanks for selecting Daniels Floors to install and finish hardwoods in your new home. We regularly work new flooring into existing flooring. We pay attention to the species and the grade of the wood flooring so that it all matches perfectly. You aren't picky at all! You were a pleasure to work with. It is not unreasonable to expect contractors to do what they have been hired to do. We really appreciate the review!
I can not say enough good things about our experience with Daniel's Floors. The communication was fantastic and the work was top notch. Highly recommend!
Thanks for posting a reply. I am glad you had us refinish your floors before moving in to your lovely new home. It was a pleasure working with you.
We just sold our house about 3 months agp, moving into a resale that had very light color/heavily scratched up hardwoods throughout. We had 1 week to find someone to refinish/stain before we had to move in. I found Daniels Floor here on Kudzu with great reviews and called Laura on a Thurs and they were out the following Mon-Thurs on really short notice! Laura was great and Daniel/crew were awesome too. Despite the very short timeframe, they finished everything in 4 days and even came back to touch up some areas. Because we had to move in so quickly, Daniel even said to contact him down the road and he'd apply another topcoat for us :) We would HIGHLY recommend Laura/Daniel to anyone needing great hardwood work done! -Nick
We were glad to help. It is smart to get the floors done before your move in. With proper care, you should be able to go at least 7-10 years without needing a recoat. Thanks again for selecting Daniels Floors. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions on caring for you floor, please give us a call.
I have a problem with a laminate floor that was put down by someone else. It is making a creaking sound. Laura called me back and was very helpful. They sound like they care to take care of the customer. I will use them when needed
Thanks for the review! I am always available for a telephone consultation, and can often provide easy DIY solutions for issues with simple solutions. I also contribute to the National Wood Flooring Association's Hardwood Flooring forum under the name Daniels. We do take care of customers, and many non-customers as well. We love working on hardwood floors and can put you to sleep with all kinds of boring information about wood floors. Please feel free to call and let me know how the solution I recommended worked out for you. Thanks!
My wife and I contacted Daniels Floors about replacing our outdated and ugly stairway. They were very helpful, working with us on options, pricing, and scheduling. Their crew arrived on time, worked steadfastly throughout the project, kept the house clean and neat, and completed the job to the highest quality standards. We are DELIGHTED with the beautiful work they did and the very reasonable price we happily paid. It was a GREAT VALUE overall. We will wholly trust Daniels Floors with our next project! - Tom & Elaine
This client asked for recommendations on spindles for this staircase. The home is a traditional home with natural hardwood floors. I felt the best look would be spindles that had decorative features, without being too ornate. I recommended iron spindles with knuckles. We alternated 1 knuckle and 2 knuckle spindles. The result is definitely an upgrade from the builder grade spindles and carpeted pine treads we replaced. I am glad the client is pleased with the results. An upgrade on a staircase makes a tremendous difference in the entry to a home. Thanks so much for the great review! We are glad you selected Daniels Floors!
This was our second round with Daniels and it was just as good as the first experience. Almost our entire house is now hardwoods and we could not be happier. Quality product and expert installation. Good hardworking people doing good work. Cannot imagine anyone being better than them.

We have developed a lot of long term relationships with our clients over the years. Lots of clients have had multiple projects over the years, or move and hire us for their new homes. We are truly grateful for our clients' loyalty and will continue to do our best to serve all of our clients to the best of our ability! Thanks for the kind words!
We needed a hardwood floor refinished after water damage. They came when they said they would, they did excellent work at a great price. Our floor has never looked this good.

Daniel's Floors refinished 1100 sqft of oak hardwood floor and installed 340 sqft of new floor to match. This was as two separate jobs. The quality of Daniel's work is outstanding. At one point I found him kneeling on the floor very carefully shaving one board to match the adjacent plank with a razor blade in an area that the sander could not reach. He also replaced transition moulding, installed stain matched quarter round, refastened some loose sections, and replaced a few water damaged boards. His attention to detail is fantastic. I am truly mystified at some of these reviews. Laura was very flexible when I had delays due to other contractors. Everyone was courteous and professional during both of our jobs.

Daniel and the guys take pride in their craftsmanship. Even though I have seen hundreds of floors we have done over the years, I am still impressed by the high caliber of work I see each time we finish a project. Thanks again for selecting Daniels Floors! We appreciate the positive feedback.
We were very pleased with the job that Daniel and his crew did. We had a lot of square footage, multiple woods, and water damage but they made it all look brand new. They checked in with us all through the process to ensure we were happy with the result. They were professional in every respect and I am very comfortable recommending them. The price was very reasonable.

First, I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that the negative reviews of Daniels Floors I just skimmed over here are real. Our experience with Daniel and Laura was excellent from the moment she picked up the phone. We were knee deep in a remodeling project and just spent thousands having our floors redone with a subcontractor who had a lousy attitude, no motivation (he actually said "I don't care" when we asked for his opinion on color) and shoddy work. We were just going to feel out the possibility of starting over with a new vendor, and after meeting with Laura we quickly decided it was worth the money to start over and work with them. She was friendly, motivated, interested in our home and lifestyle and floorplan and so on. When the team came to sand and put down samples, they were patient and helpful and couldn't have been nicer about putting down huge color swatches in multiple rooms and offering advice and guidance (and moral support) as we took the plunge into a very dark (Minwax Espresso) color that has absolutely TRANSFORMED our main floor. We are looking forward to working with Laura and Daniel again on our stair/railing/catwalk remodel next year, and our basement reflooring after that. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I'd be more than happy to talk to any homeowner considering working with them (we've already met with a couple of their prospective clients to show off our floors), and to reiterate my assertion of "poppycock" on the weird, negative reviews here.

I recall my initial conversation with this client. The original flooring contractor was rude and not interested in working with this client after the wrong color was applied to the floor. Basically, the original flooring contractor told the client that he was only doing floors until he can get into a better line of work. We consulted with the client and worked with him to get the look he wanted. We absolutely LOVE doing floors and stairs! We go into homes with old, worn hardwoods and make them beautiful. Or, we completely transform the look of a home by replacing carpet or rebuilding the staircase. It is very rewarding to do something that makes people happy. The reaction of our clients when they see the finished project is just like on TV, when homeowners see finished renovations. I am glad they called on us! Thanks for posting the review!
My foundation moves a little. I had a board break loose and they fixed it for free...no questions. Great service!

Thanks for posting! Our clients spend thousands on their floors. Sometimes things happen that are not related to the installation, but still need addressing. If it is a quick fix, we are happy to take care of it for our clients.
We hired Daniels Floors this past November. They are a really nice family owned business. They were one of the few companies that would actually allow us to purchase the floors that we wanted from Costco and then they would install them for us & warranty their installation. The price that they offered us was very competitive. They let us pick out our own underlayment, so that we could get the best that we could afford. They gave us their recommendation and we took it. We were also able to purchase the trim that we liked as well, so everything was very customized to suit our desires. They quickly moved all of the furniture out of the house, put down the floors, & then put all of the furniture back in place, all within one day. The installation team arrived on time and was very polite & professional. After the floors were installed, we had two boards coming up. When I called the company, one of the owners, Laura got back with me right away. As promised, she quickly came out & repaired the minor issues. We are very happy that we hired a company that actually honors its warranty. We would highly recommend Daniels Floors to anyone looking for an honest company that does good work.

I wish we could review clients. This is such a nice young couple! We enjoyed working with them on their flooring project. They have a real eye for design. The flooring they selected is beautiful.
Laura & her team did a great job installing new hardwood and staining to match my existing wood. Highly recommend

I enjoyed this project so much! This old house was soooo dated when our client purchased it. This client pulled out walls, cabinets and appliances and turned a drab, mid century ranch house into a sleek, modern, upscale home with an open floor plan. The living room had hardwoods, but the kitchen did not. We installed wood flooring in the kitchen. We installed flush mount floor registers in the middle of the floor, where the wall was removed. We sanded everything and finished the floor with a natural finish and water based polyurethane. Thanks so much for selecting us for this project and for publishing a great review!
We thought we had a flooring problem, but Daniels Floors put our mind at ease. They came over and quickly identified our floor as not only laminate but also a "floating floor", which explained the problems we thought we were having. Turns out we had nothing to worry about. Will use Daniels floors when we decide to re-do our flooring. Great Company!

This young couple called for an estimate on a flooring repair in their new home. They said their floor was separating in some areas. When I arrived I determined that the floor was actually a laminate, a very nice laminate with individual wide planks. Some of the planks had separated. I showed these guys how to scoot the planks back into place themselves and buy a $3 jar of putty to fill the cracks. Their flooring looks good and should last several years. Thanks for the posting! We will be here whenever you are ready.
