shoddy work and awful customer service, 7/30/2012

Do not have them do any work for you. I thought their reputation was good and was willing to pay more for a local company. Horrible experience with deck work do not go here do yourself a favor and... find someone who knows what they are doing. Even the people in store are rude will not wait on you or help you I wish I had never had them do my work

Quality materials, 5/12/2011

This place is known for having quality materials.\r\rI was building a patio roof for my daughter and went there for a few pieces of pressure treated wood for some beams, because they are much better... than the Big Box stores. \r\rWhile I was there I decided to get a price for standard lumber to see the price difference, because theirs was usually better. To my surprise they were cheaper than the Big Box stores. So I bought all the wood from them.\r\rIf you are planning a project be sure to check them before you make your purchase.

Not for Consumers, Really just for Contractors, average consumers are afterthought.

I drove several miles around detours, burning a lot of gasoline, yesterday to get a price on vinyl windows INSTALLED by their company. \r\rI called their company and they told me that yes they do installations. I told them ON THE PHONE that I had already had several companies come out and measure my windows. I wanted to get a quote from Brookside and they assured me on the phone they could get me an price on windows Brookside Lumber would install.\r\rWhen I arrived a bald man asked me who gave me the first quotes. I told him the names of the companies who game me estimates. Then he says I'm sorry Brookside Lumber couldn't give the price on installed windows that I asked for on the phone and drove out there for! Brookside Lumber didn't want to offend their contractor customers.\r\rI was mad as heck with gas prices of $4 a gallon!\r\rNow if they said that on the phone. I would have been OK with it. If one of their guys would have had the integrity to say hey I took the call and I appologize. No, they all had amnesia. Nobody would even admit to taking the call!\r\rThey didn't even offer me a few bucks to pay for my gas for the trip over there, for the mistake THEIR PEOPLE MADE!\r\rFunniest part was one of the contractors they didn't want to offend was quoting me TRACO windows. Brookside's people told me they don't even CARRY TRACO. So their favorite contractor wasn't even going to buy windows from them anyway!\r\rNow if they want to be a wholesale operation, that's their decision. I wouldn't mind that at all. I mind wasting my time and wasting my money.\r\rLowes and Home Depot it is from now on! Actually, Lowes and Home Depot had better prices, they carry name brands and they install windows too!\r\rNow if you're a contractor you should love Brookside Lumber. I wouldn't stop there to buy so much as a screw now. And small local businesses wonder why the big box stores are cleaning their clocks competitively!

Great material and knowledgable people. Prices can be a little high if you don't have an account

Friendly employees willing to help you make your selection of material and give you the advice you need to make the correct selection. Always good quality material. However, if you don't have an account, you pay the cash account pricing which can be much higher than the home centers. It can turn me off to going there unless i need special materials.
