Exceptional quality at affordable prices! Our owner and founder, Mike Parkman, is a board certified, registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed by the State of Georgia, and a fully code certified International Code Council Residential Combination Inspector (ICC-R5). The owner of the company, Mike Parkman, P.E., performs all inspections.
Don't be misled by others with few or no credentials. There are no licensing requirements or regulatory criteria for becoming a home inspector in.. Georgia. Anyone with a truck and ladder can call themselves an inspector. You want an inspector that knows what he or she is doing and has certifications in all four of the Georgia Residential Building Codes (ICC-R5) to back it up. Ask to see the inspector's ICC-R5 certificate (ours is on our parkmanhi.com company web site under the Credentials tab). Going cheap on the inspection of probably the biggest investment of your life is unwise.
There are some great deals on residential property out there due to the current economic crisis, but buying one after relying on a faulty or incomplete inspection could turn into a disaster.
For the most thorough inspection, Parkman Home Inspections uses the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) Standards of Practice protocol. We will check the: Structure, Exterior, Roof, Plumbing, Electrical, Air Conditioning, Heating, Ventilation, Insulation, Interior, Fireplaces, and Kitchen Appliances. The inspection usually takes between 3 and 5 hours. We will produce a written report of our findings -- typically 30 to 60 pages in length.
Our reports are computer generated (no illegible handwritten reports). They contain 50 to 100 color photographs (not just 2 or 3) showing exactly the problem areas and where they're located. The report is produced and delivered online the same day. A summary of the recommended repair areas is color-coded and grouped into Major, Moderate, and Minor categories for easy reference. All reports are uploaded to our password-protected vault on the Internet for your safekeeping for at least three years. You can view, print, and forward your report 24/7 from any Internet-connected computer.
For our clients' health and protection, Parkman Home Inspections also provides radon gas measurement testing. In fact, portions of metro-Atlanta have been designated by the U.S.-Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as "red zones" for radon. Radon gas is the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. Our radon measurement testing employs the best in true integrating Electret Ion Chambers -- more sensitive and accurate than standard charcoal canisters!
Many callers are now asking about thermal or infrared imaging. Yes, Parkman Home Inspections has it. We use only FLIR-brand cameras -- a world-renowned leader in the manufacture of infrared equipment.
Regarding termites, we recommend you choose a licensed pest control operator for termite inspections. These companies are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture to apply termiticides and can treat the property as needed. An annual termite inspection and warranty bond from a reliable pest control company are important in Georgia.

We highly recommend Mike Parkman if you need a home inspection. We debated whether to do a home inspection on a new construction home and we are glad we did! Mike identified several issues that... need addressed by the builder. Mike is professional and patiently shares his knowledge. We learned so much about our new home from following him around during the inspection. Both Mike and his wife Glenda provide excellent customer service...they return phone calls and emails promptly and are very professional. We would definitely recommend Parkman Inspections and will use Mike for our future home purchases. Jack & KarenVIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
If you want a good honest inspector who knows his stuff, then Parkman is the one for you. Not only was the office staff friendly, the inspector was professional and knowledgable. There were no... surprises (i.e. they followed through on all promised and deliverables). The report was of high quality. I hope not to need another house inspector for a while, but I would definitely use them, again!VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
Thorough inspection from top to bottom, inside and out. Spent close to 6hrs with us. Answered all our questions. Explained things thoroughly from foundation, structure, plumbing, hvac, roofing, electrical, doors, windows, brick stone mortar, garage, driveway. He found an active leak with gauge/device that had been concealed by a newly painted house. Extremely knowledgeable, gave us recommendations for repair & references. Absolutely comprehensive report. Outlined clearly items for immediate repair to minor repairs. Saw things we didn't notice even after we'd seen the house 10times. Price is reasonable for the expertise, thoroughness, and time spent on examining our house. His wife is absolutely wonderful to work with as well. They are a solid team. We've used other inspectors before and they don't come anywhere near the level of detail and professionalism that Mr. Parkman provides. Without a doubt, if we were to buy another home we'd use him again. We're so glad we hired him just so there were no large repair surprises for us after we moved in. We're relieved we found a home inspector we trusted to do an absolutely amazing job.

I actually lucked upon Mike as I recognized his logo on Kudzu from a house I purchased 10 yrs. ago. I remember the report was very thorough. Well, I was right again. He looked at a rental home I was considering purchasing and he was extremely diligent down to even the most minor of details. Very honest as well as the gas wasn't on and he obviously had a fee to come back out but stated the gas company will probably turn on the light at no charge. Which they did. I will only use Mike on every home I purchase as he is worthy of all 5 stars
They were very responsive to providing a timely inspection. they did one for a house under consideration to buy and a pre-sale for my house. Both were very comprehensive and clear. Mike is unobtrusive and accessible.
My initial contact was with Glenda and was very educational. I understood exactly what they would and would not inspect. Mike arrived on time and was very pleasant. I stayed with him for all 4-1/2 hours. He was very thorough, detailed, and explained various deficiencies to me. I will highly recommend Parkman.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-notch home inspection backed by great customer service. Choose Parkman Home Inspections and you eliminate costly disappointments and gain satisfaction in a detailed-job well done. After calling over 15 different home inspectors, I was convinced that I need not look any further after speaking with Parkman Home Inspections. They exceeded all expectations. Furthermore, they provided a surprisingly quick turn around on the inspection report, especially with consideration of the highly detailed nature of the report. Two thumbs up. Thank you so much.
We have had to have two houses inspected recently. For first one used an inspector recommended by my agent. Wasn't really impressed so called Parkman. Best move I ever made. Mike's inspection made the previous one look like exactly what it was...a waste of time and my money. Mike is thorough, honest, and determined to represent you his client to the best of his abilities. In a real estate transaction there aren't too many parties who are only there to protect you, but Mike will be. His work will give you everything you need to be an informed buyer or to negotiate with the seller. Glenda is also wonderful to work with in scheduling and answering questions. One of the best experiences with a business I've had in a long while.
We certainly have after living in our current home for fourteen years. It was inspected by a home inspector our realtor recommended (chalk it up to first time buyer naivete). This has cost us more money than I care to think about. Now, I understand that no one can possibly catch everything. That said, when we went under contract for a new home I was determined to find someone I felt good about. Enter Mike Parkman. Mike was on time, incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He listened to our concerns and then thoroughly inspected our home. On completion, Mike educated us on his biggest concerns and pointed out where they were. Most impressive was the pooling water Mike found with a thermal imaging camera.I know our last inspector would have never caught that. Our inspection was in the morning and we were provided a comprehensive online report ordered from most troublesome problems to the tiniest details that same day. Thanks to Mike, I feel like we were able to ask for our biggest concerns to be repaired and know what we need to plan for in the future. I will absolutely be recommending Mike to anyone I know looking to buy a home.
Mike was professional throughout the inspection process. He walked me through the details of his results and answered all my questions. I'd faithfully have him inspect any property in the future.
Glenda and Mike are a pleasure to deal with. Setting up the appointment was easy and the cost was as good or better as anyone else in town. Mike was very thorough and was willing to answer the questions I had as a first time homeowner. I am glad to have the piece of mind that the inspection gave me prior to the expiration of my 12 month warranty from the builder.
Mike performed a great inspection, pointing out several things that I would never have seen (apparently, some nearby homeowners hadn't heard a couple of things on their inspections.) He's prompt, thorough, and very pleasant to work with. Thank you, Mike!
Mike and Glenda are absolutely wonderful to work with! They're so thorough and give you such customer service. Who knew that getting an inspection could be so informative and actually fun! I would highly recommend them to any of our friends. Hands down.
Mike was professional, patient, gave me an education on my townhouse. I did the entire walk through with him (Closing Inspection) and he checked everything. Glenda, his wife was wonderful. Even though they had a slight family emergency the day I called. She made sure my appointment was set and I knew exactly what to expect.
Mike has the right skill set and training to do an effective home inspection. This is our third home buying experience and he definitely raised the bar on our expectations. Highly recommended!
Mike came out twice due to the builder not completing the home in time for the final inspection. Mike walked me through the whole house, explained to me in detail all of the equipment, and was very thorough. He was extremely nice, and very understanding. He wanted to make sure I got a full home inspection, so he made the second trip to test the things he wasn't able to before. Highly recommended!
