Shortcuts, not fixes, for all your plumbing needs, 5/05/2014

David from A Total responded to an AHS policy work order we requested for a leaking bathtub drain. The issue ended up being a leaking overflow. David ordered the parts, but no one bothered to call me... to schedule another appointment. I had to call A-Total twice to get the appointment scheduled a week later than David had discussed. After a few hours, David supposedly had fixed the problem. We tested the bathtub the next day and found that the drain, when closed, was leaking past the plunger so that water would not stay in the bathtub. We didn't even have this problem prior to A-Total coming to "repair" it. I decided to take the overflow cover off to take a look and adjust the plunger if possible. I found plumbers putty completely clogging the inside of the overflow cover. David had not fixed our leak. In fact, he created a safety issue by completely disabling our overflow for the tub. After $25 worth of parts, I fixed it correctly myself with a new overflow gasket and plunger, which is what I thought David did. This repair was dishonest and unsafe. Thanks A-Total. Update 6/5/14 - These guys still have not shown any concern for this level of service or a customer's complete dissatisfaction with their performance.

Would not honor website coupon..., 12/12/2013

I had this company clear a main drain line, and they said they cleared it all the way to the county side, but was still clogged, and that it was now the counties problem. When it came time to pay... they asked for $250+. Their website said there was a flat fee of $99. When I mentioned this, they said they would not honor it. The tech said they wouldn't honor it b/c that was more for preventative maintenance AND that I had to present the coupon before the service begun...huh? Generally you present a coupon when its time to pay! I told them I wanted them to honor the website and the rep spoke w/ the owner, who brought the price down from $250 to $199. Owner said "wasn't aware the website was still up..." So that's my fault? At least they came down a bit, but still in my opinion this is a dishonest and a misrepresentation. I felt ripped off. (Update: 12/20/2013 County came out and said its on my side. Turns out the line is still very blocked, so I 'm not sure what A-Total really did? - 1 star).

High Quality Professional

Don L is the consummate professional! The quality of Don L's work was excellent and at a reasonable price. I was impressed with Don L's handling the HOA manager and the Water Department personnel. Don L is also a pleasant person which is a nice quality to possess in emergency plumbing situations. Traveler2020

Run

We had ATotal plumbing replace main sewer line four years ago. Now we have to get it replaced again. I know trees grow fast but not this fast. I would definitely go with another plumber

Pleasantly surprised

A-Total Plumbing responded to my request for plumbing repairs under an AHS policy. It was my first time to ever file a claim like this, and I expected that the vendor chosen might be sketchy. However, the business responded promptly, scheduled to my convenience, made a reminder call, and arrived on time. The work took a little longer than I expected, but was completed in the allotted time and was all that I could ask for. The worker was a little messy, staining a nice rug in front of the sink instead of moving it,but cleaned everything else up. I would consider using them again, just get everything out of their way first.

Call A Total for plumbing; insist on Don L

Called A Total because my water heater busted the day before Thanksgiving. Don L came out immediately and inspected everything. We ordered another water heater. Don L was extremely detailed and informative about the former water heater problem, what changes were needed per code, the process of removing the old heater and installing a new one, and how to get the most out of the new water heater. He even warned us about the huge water bill we would receive due to the lost water and advised us to apply for a water credit from our water supplier based on the accident (I would not have thought about that). The work was done professionally and quickly. The price seemed a little higher than average; but not unreasonable for the work and equipment. It also includes $100 costs for a county inspection to verify the work (good assurance).

What a great job!

I've been using A Total through my American Home Shield for many years now, and I can ALWAYS count on them to fix my problem, no matter how complicated. Don L. did a great job locating and repairing a leak in my concrete slab. I was really impressed that he had isolated it to a small corner of my dining room. Today before jack hammering my floor, he used a technique putting oxygen into the pipe to better hear the leak. He called me down stairs to hear the water bubbling under the laminate flooring. I'm so relieved to have my leak reparied and Don was a pleasure to work with!!!

Very Knowledgeable

Don L. came out to help with a total blockage in our kitchen. They were assigned to us through American Home Shield. Came out next day. I feel they were a bit overpriced, but he was rather knowledgeable and had our problem solved VERY quickly. Would definitely use them again. He really knew his stuff!

Fast response for emergency

Had a leak from an unknown spot. I use A Total through my homeowners warranty but I will use them for any service. From the time I called, it was only an hour before they had me scheduled for same day service then called and bumped me up in the line for even faster service. Cory came on time and found the leak in a short time. He had to cut some holes in the wall to find and repair the leak but kept the mess at a minium and cleaned up completely before he left.
